Hi, i have just got married and we are ttc our first! We started about 2 years ago but then my husband had an accident and we stopped then we were planning a wedding so we only just started again 3 months ago. I am 39 and my OH is 40. I'm a bit worried about my age and what steps I should be taking etc. Any advice or someone to chat to in the same boat would be lovely as I feel really alone on this journey xx

@Whyhaveidonethis - so I assume you are getting referred to someone who can interpret your blood results??

Whyhaveidonethis · 19/09/2019 13:28

@Icouldstillbejoseph he said he was going to send my results to a specialist for advice. I'm still waiting. It's been 3 weeks.

Feel totally fed up about it to be honest. The CPs have really taken a toll on my MH and I'm not sure I can face another one. I'm determined not to test this month until I'm a few days late. I'm on holiday when AF is due so maybe that will help. I don't know though. I'm sure come 10dpo I'll be desperate to know!

wannabemum38 · 22/09/2019 00:10

Hi ladies
Nice to see other women my age TTC I turned 39 on Monday me and and my DP have been TTC since June. I came off the POP and cycles came back by July and now every 28 days and according to OPK I ovulate around CD15 my AF unfortunately turned up today was hopeful this month we had cracked it but sadly not. So onto cycle 3 we go.
I've been taking a folic acid supplement since I started TTC as every little helps

StormBaby · 22/09/2019 01:01

Been trying for three years plus with male infertility issues. I'm 39. He's 33. We both have children with exs. Had a couple of early losses. I'm currently 5 days late but we had very little sex this month, so I refuse to believe we have done it.

Icouldstillbejoseph · 22/09/2019 07:45

@StormBaby you're a stronger woman than me! I'd have to know!! Good luck.

Confused38 · 22/09/2019 18:08

Hi I am 39 and trying to conceive. I had a miscarriage in April of this year and was worried I was leaving it late. I fell straight away. We have only just started trying again this month as it took me a while to feel ready to try again. I do worry about age. Although my midwife had previously said this is the ‘normal age’ now that women are having children. Who knows. Hoping you all get what you want. Will be following this thread.

Maybebaby2 · 22/09/2019 21:19

@Whyhaveidonethis I hope you get some answers for your results soon x

@Janefx40 lovely to hear a positive story thank you x

@StormBaby wow you have some will power I definitely would be poas every day if I was late!

Sorry to hear there has been so many losses, you are all so brave. I did mc a long time ago so I do understand how hard it is. Even after that bfp it's a scary time. With dd I worried pretty much the whole way through. But she's here, 21 months and perfectly healthy so one or more mc does not mean that it won't happen eventually.

AF is due for me tomorrow, my app says Tuesday but I'm convinced it's tomorrow. I am actually looking forward to getting it out the way so we can seriously start to ttc. 1st cycle was definitely a write off!

Whyhaveidonethis · 22/09/2019 22:27

Hi @Maybebaby2 according to OPKs I got my peak yesterday so ovulated today probably. Bbt dropped this morning so seems about right.

We dtd Wednesday, Thursday, Friday twice Saturday and twice today so hopefully we've got it covered as I'm not seeing DP for a week. Determined not to test early this month and we go away on 6th October so hoping to test while away, but I'm a POAS addict so we shall see!!

Maybebaby2 · 22/09/2019 23:03

Wow you have been busy! Grin Got fingers crossed for you for a sticky bean 🤞 Having the holiday to look forward to is a good distraction in the tww. I am terrible for POAS too, it's so hard to resist testing early! Good luck x

Whyhaveidonethis · 22/09/2019 23:46

Hahaha @Maybebaby2 we do seem to have a lot of sex!! 😂😂 He is incredibly sexy though 😉

I Kind of wish the holiday was earlier as its the day after AF is due so know I'm going to focus on that instead of the holiday. After so many CPs I just know I shouldn't test though. Plus I've had a CP every other month and had one last month so feel like I'm not going to get a BFP this month.

StormBaby · 22/09/2019 23:57

I've honestly had my heart broken every month for 38 months now, I'm so over it. I used to test from 9dpo and also do the opks but I just can't get my hopes up any more. I'm done with it to be honest.

Currently 6 days late. We've had sex this evening and that normally starts me off bleeding if I'm due on, yet still nothing. I will do a cheap test in the morning.

Icouldstillbejoseph · 23/09/2019 08:28

@StormBaby it's ok, you can delegate getting your hopes up to me. I'm hopeful on your behalf Smile

Whyhaveidonethis · 23/09/2019 11:42

@StormBaby I'm hopeful for you too. Hugs, fingers crossed this is your month. X

StormBaby · 23/09/2019 12:25

Thanks ladies! Well I peed on a cheapy this morning and nothing to report really. If I squinted in the light I could see a shadow but I've been here a million times before it feels like. 7 days late today. Had a minute, tiny bit of tinged cm on Friday, thought that was it starting, when I got home from work it had stopped, nothing since, so I'm taking that as a good sign.

As an aside, when pregnant with both my boys it took me ages to get a positive test even well after a missed period. Confused

Icouldstillbejoseph · 23/09/2019 16:04

@StormBaby sounds like a great sign :)

My delightful AF has arrived 2 days early. Yay. Sad

Moominmiss · 23/09/2019 16:22

Hi guys, hope I can join....I’m 37 and ttc my fourth.
I have a 9, 7, and 5 year old with my ex husband.
I’ve been with my current partner for 2 years. He is only 29 and has no children of his own.
We decided we’d like one of our own and so I came off the pill at the end of August.
I usually have 29-30 day cycles and ovulated on cd17, I’m now 15 dpo, so 2 days late now, but I’ve had bfn’s so I’m fairly confident it’s my body and cycles adjusting to being off the pill. I just want and to hurry up so we can start trying again.

I do worry about my age, and I also worry that after 3 previous c sections it could be risky have a fourth, but what will be will be!

Good luck to everyone else trying!!!

Smile
Icouldstillbejoseph · 23/09/2019 18:47

@Moominmiss im not the OP but you're certainly welcome, the more the merrier! I feel like 37 seems really young to me now (in terms of conception, not trying to be patronising!)

StormBaby · 23/09/2019 19:37

@icouldstillbejoseph sorry you are out for this month Flowers

Maybebaby2 · 23/09/2019 20:36

@Whyhaveidonethis hahaa well I guess that does help! 😁

@StormBaby fingers crossed this will be your month 🤞

@Icouldstillbejoseph me too'ish' I started spotting today so AF will definitely arrive tomorrow. What are your cycle lengths?

Hi @Moominmiss I was 37 when I started ttc dd, it took 7 cycles after taking coil out. I had a big age gap 16 years between ds and dd so I was worried I'd left it too long but looking back it wasn't as difficult to get that bfp as I'd thought it would be. Hopefully it'll happen quickly for you once your cycles have evened out from the pill x

Icouldstillbejoseph · 23/09/2019 20:55

@Maybebaby2 - when I'm not ttc my cycle is 28 days, set your watch by it. Now, first the first time in my life, my cycles are shortening and this one was 26 days.

I'm trying to convince myself this isn't portending menopause (my mum was perimenopausal at 40).

If one more person tells me "it'll happen if I relax" or similar well-meaning shit I may explode. I have 2 children already and I didn't need to "relax" then Angry

I'm sat here - mooncup in, eating biscuits and googling fertility acupuncture :/

Mood!

Moominmiss · 23/09/2019 20:58

@Icouldstillbejoseph thank you. And don’t worry, I know what you mean, my friends that are turning 35 and moaning about their ages, I’m just like, you’ve no idea, what I’d give to still only be 35 lol.

@Maybebaby2 it’s really reassuring to hear from someone else who left a large age gap and then started ttc again at 37. It’s difficult, I’ll read some stories that will really boost my positivity about ttc in the late 30’s and then I’ll totally ruin it by ready done really depressing stories about all the extra risks and stuff and how much your fertility declines. Ugh!

Really looking forward to this ttc journey with you all! Here’s hoping we all get our bfp’s!!!

Icouldstillbejoseph · 23/09/2019 21:00

@Maybebaby2 sorry this probably isn't your month either Wine

Whyhaveidonethis · 23/09/2019 22:44

So I've been away a lot this week and I forgot my thermometer so I'm guessing according to my CM and OPKs that I ovulated yesterday after a positive OPK and watery (not sure if ew) CM on Saturday. 2ww started. Fingers crossed 🤞. I was thinking of buying some baby aspirin in the hope that helps?

Nicsfh80 · 23/09/2019 23:03

I just had my reflexology tonight, it was really good and after a stressful few days worrying we hadn't dtd enough this time, she told me she thought I hadn't ovulated yet so still had a couple of days. I feel much more relaxed tonight than I have for a while.
Hi to all the new girls on the group, I'm finding it hard to keep up but it's really nice to hear from you.
Stormbaby fingers crossed your faint line turns into a BFP!

sabtom · 24/09/2019 06:56

@Nicsfh80 I have my first reflexology session next week, is it better to have done any time during your cycle or are there certain days it's best to go?
