Ah, I hear you. I am also not hugely happy in my job and feel like I need to stick it out because of maternity. But then it seems silly because who knows when/ if it will ever happen.

I'm lucky in the DH is as keen to have a baby as I am and he is happy to "perform" as often as possible. But it still can be alot of pressure. I am trying to make sure its not all about babymaking

how is the hypnotherapy- tell me more. My GP wanted do do this with me, but I had to cancel as I was ill. Should I make another appointment?

digitalgirl · 12/08/2007 16:58

hiya!

Josey - hope your dh put in a good performance last night!

Mowmi and Lulu, i was going through the same thing last year re: hating my job but thinking i should stick it out because it had such a great maternity package (i'd been there for 6 years). Then i had one of those confidence-boosting life-changing experiences where I realised i could be much happier doing something else. I didn't want to come back after a year off to a job that i would then feel stuck with and employers i would feel indebted towards.

So, I put off making babies till now and I'm so glad i did...even though it means i'll prob have to go back after 6 months, at least it will be to do something i enjoy and really believe in.

You may not be planning to go back to work, in which case - stick it out. But if you do have to go back then make sure it's to a job you can bear. You only have to be working there a few months in order to be eligible. Might mean only waiting 3 months after you start a new job to start ttc again.

Who knows, with the confidence of being a new job - stress may ease and ttc may be really easy!

HTH,
dg x

PS am CD14 and dh has changed his mind about holding out till sep

mowmi · 12/08/2007 20:32

Your absolutely right DG, I will be going back to work so I should really be thinking about making a change now... not sure I have the energy for it at the moment but might do me good to put some in to something else rather than stressing about trying to get pregnant!

The hypnotherapy thing came out of me realising I had to do something about my stress levels... went to see someone on Thursday and really enjoyed it, she also gave me a cd to do at home, it's just so relaxing. I'm back there on Thursday so I'll keep you updated.

DH came home and we had a chat over dinner and I feel calmer and no longer want to kill him.. told him this isn't going to happen if we carry on only having sex on Sunday monday mornings!

Dreading doc results tomorrow (day 3 and 21 and DH) but at least we'll know what we're dealing with.

X

mowmi · 12/08/2007 20:38

Sorry just had to post that quickly coz laptop was about to die!
Lulu, defo recommend if you need to calm down a bit. I'm also going to try accupuncture as soon as I know what bit of the process is letting me down!
Digitalgirl good news on the early start!
Wishing you both lots of luck!

x

digitalgirl · 13/08/2007 10:57

hey mowmi - hope your doc results are ok.

btw accupuncture's really good for relieving a build up of stress hormones, dh did it a few years ago and it worked a treat! one of my bf's also did it to help wit her panic attacks and it really helped. won't stop you getting stressed in the first place though, if you can figure out what the cause is and deal with it, then you'll save yourself having to go back too many times. good luck with it!

lulu1414 · 13/08/2007 11:18

Hmm... definitely need to deal with stress levels, so maybe will call re hypnotheray. I am actually having acupuncture at the moment. Have had 3 sessions and have another today. I can't say it has made a huge difference, but who knows. I think the main thing is just to feel like I am doing something to help things along. And anything that helps with relaxation can't be bad...

tigerschick · 13/08/2007 13:11

Hi ladies

mowmi - what did the results show? Hope there is something that can be done to help.
digitalgirl - glad to hear that you are getting started, the sooner the better hey?!
lulu - hope the accupuncture does the trick. I'm always fascinated by that sort of thing. My neighbour does reflexology but she's a bit close to be talking to about this sort of thing!

I'm on cd5, taken my first 4 Clomid and have a scan next Tuesday to make sure it's working. That means (I think) that I'll be ov-ing sometime around Monday - Wednesday next week ... dh is getting plenty of rest this week

LoveAngel · 13/08/2007 14:24

Hi there, can I join in? I feel a bit lost on other threads. We're ttc no.2. We have a 2 and a half yr old that we conceived after a couple of weeks of trying, so we were very spoilt last time and I'm feeling a bit weary with ttc already this time round, although it has been a comparitvely short time we've been at it, it seems. AF was due 2 days ago, but got a BFN today and I've been feeling pre-menstrual. I just hate thinking about it all the time and being dying to test before AF is even due - its stressful! Good luck to youa ll. Its great to have other people in similar situations to talk to xx

newkid · 13/08/2007 15:13

trying not to obsess but keep getting drawn back in to MN. TTC no2 (dd is 3.3). Took several years to conceive her and similar at the moment. Annoying as i am now four years older (closer to 38 than 37!). on cd 6

penguinmum · 13/08/2007 18:34

Hi, am also fairly new to this ttc thing - dd happened by accident (though I did really want a baby, so wasn't as much of an accident as I told people ), so this is the first time I have actually ttc, am lost! Taken me ages to find out what ewcm was (and now am not really sure I want to know!). Am cd11 of first cycle and am just planning on bding a lot and see what happens - dh is happy with that plan too!

tigerschick · 13/08/2007 18:39

Hello and welcome to new people

Everyone here is very friendly (even if I do say so myself ) and supportive. Feel free to rant, ask questions, whatever. There is always someone along to chat to.

Good luck one and all

libralady · 13/08/2007 19:15

Hi all,
Thought I'd join this thread as I don't think I'll get my BFP this month. Doesn't look like my back surgery back in May has worked - been to Drs today and appears I have another prolapse. Talk about agony. The last thing I want to do is have sex over the next week or so as I am now cd11!
Hi newkid. Looks like you're in a simliar position to myself. I have a DS who's 3.4 after 3 years ttc and I'm 38 in October.

moodymoo · 13/08/2007 20:53

Hiya, think I should move over from August thread as didn't turn out to be my month . September will be my 2nd month of ttc, took 10 months to get pg last time only for it to end sadly so am hoping that this month wont take as long and will have a happy ending .Will be using the assistance of a clearblue monitor this month so hope I will have a better understanding of my fertile days etc rather than relying on bd'ing once a day everyday for the whole blooming month - it's not as easy to do as people think it's going to be!!
(Totally unrelated but why does my dh insist on sitting here doing imitations of corrie characters -he's doing my head in!!!).
Libralady an dtigerschick - nice to see people I 'know' from the other thread, kinda hope not too many of the others make it over in a nice kind of way - if you see what I mean? Hi to everyone else and heres hoping for a month of BFP's all round x

mowmi · 13/08/2007 21:40

hey ladies, hope all is well tonight!
Docs appointment was a bit inconclusive but we've been refered and have an appointment next month.
FSH 3.9
LH 4.1
think these are ok although i think atilla said any variation between these 2 could be a sign of PCOS?
Day 21 reading is all over the place because my cycles fluctuate so much had it CD 36 but AF came 3 days later!
progesterone result was 19 and not post ovulatory level but not going to read anything in to it for for now? (hmm)

Libralady - back sounds painful... hope your back to it soon (blush)

x

mowmi · 13/08/2007 21:41

I clearly haven't got the hang of the icons yet... spot the newie!!

josey · 14/08/2007 18:43

yes thank you digital girl he did rather well teehee!

on CD14 now having craps 2 so going to give it a good go again tonight lol!

Hi to everyone else who has joined in and lots of luck.

Penguinmum, I have 2 kids already and I have never known about the ew wotsit before I have just gone for mid cycle and as you say lots of BD and DH certainly doesnt mind

Oh Libralady sorry about the back pain etc, will you have to have further surgery?

Mowmi, have no idea what your results mean, not very good with these things, just hoping that they are good for you at least you are being reffered to someone which will maybe help.

libralady · 14/08/2007 21:37

Thnaks for your message Josie.
I'm unsure as yet but have managed to get appointment with my consultant at 7.10pm tomorrow night so may have a better idea then. Will keep you posted.
Hope everyone is doing OK.
Take care and babydust to all.
LL xx

digitalgirl · 15/08/2007 10:55

Morning ladies,

Hello especially to the newcomers and also those joining us from the Aug thread.

Libralady - sorry to hear about your back, sounds very painful.
Mowmi - not sure what results mean as I've not been down that road yet. Fill us in when you know.
Josey - Good luck with the BDing!
Modymoo - did it start getting a bit 'functional' bd-ing everyday?

Am on CD17, cycle 1 of ttc no.1, DH has been happy to oblige over the last few days (except last night) and it's been loads of fun . Feels liberating, yet strange, after 12 years of being careful! Also feels a bit like we're on honeymoon again. Suppose we just keep going till AF or BFP. Keep telling myself I won't mind if AF comes as we started a month earlier than planned...

Did anyone hear about the (what I thought was obvious) new research that proves pg mums or bf mums eating junk food all the time have a higher chance of making their kids obese. My wicked step-mother ate nothing but McDonalds when pg with her ds1 , he's now 7yo with major food issues, really bad eczema and won't eat anything except pasta, potatoes and rice.

moodymoo · 15/08/2007 20:28

Hiya digitalgirl. yes it did feel like we were just going through the motions bd'ing every day and to be honest I don't think we would do it again - it put alot of pressure on us both. It also became a bit uncomfortable towards the end iykwim . Am just going to rely on my monitor this month and try to relax a bit more.It will happen when it happens (arrggghhh hate that phrase).
It is good that you are relaxed, it is an exciting time which can get taken over by all the pressure we put on ourselves.
My only advice to you any to anyone else ttc'ing is to make sure you take your folic acid - it is sooo important. I have heard about the junk food story but haven't looked at it properly yet - there is something on the GMTV website I think.
Libralady - how did it go with the back specialist?

walkingwomb · 15/08/2007 22:34

Hello - can I join in?

I am 29 and trying for my first. We got married a few years ago but have been putting it off because I have a job that is very unsuited to motherhood. However, have finally decided to go for it (hurrah!).

This is my third month of TTC but this is the first one were i am hopeful as we never managed it at what I am guessing to be the right time. I am on day 16 and all BD has had to stop because I am working away for the rest of the week. Still quite hopeful.

Haven't really a clue about things except to try to wring DH dry in the middle of the month.

Mowmi- i had problems getting DH to BD the last few months, but then had a bit chat about it and we decided to go for it when he comes home from work and is not too tired yet as he shuts down after 9pm. so this month has been better but a bit of a strain on him. not sure if we can keep this up for long before he goes on strike!

good luck everyone

WW

bramblina · 15/08/2007 23:31

Hello walkingwomb! Love the name!

Ok so thinking I knew everything I needed to know about conception (had plenty time to research it last time!) I now realise I've forgotten what I knew and don't know the rest!
Day 1 is the first day of a period, right? Is the day of ovulation usually the same day as ewcm or couple either side? And conception can occur within 3 days either side of ovulation?

My LMP began Tues 31st, today I had ewcm (though I seem to have it 4 days or so after a period...?) and when I checked today will be day 16 if I'm right with the day 1 rule so I'm assuming I would prob be/ have been ovulating today? So will Friday be too late for bding? Dh not home till then so there's nothing I can do about it anyway but just thought I'd ask! What does CD stand for? Something day I'm guessing.

Libralady how did the appointment go?

libralady · 15/08/2007 23:43

Well went to see the consultant tonight and after much prodding and poking and x-rays (after he'd called the radiologist in from home) he has diagnosed just a mechanical muscle sprain. Luckily the implant doesn't appear to have shifted and he is predicting it is just a muscle spasm that can occur when you are just walking (doesn't always occur when lifting or bending). He has said this can also occur post operative and since it has only been 10 weeks since my surgery it is not unexpected!. Wish he'd warned me of that before. It should clear up within a few weeks but if I am still in pain when he returns from holiday on 6th September I should go back to him immediately. So have now officially given up ttc this month as I don't feel like trying in any case. Plus after having had x-rays, you don't know what damage could be done if I was to conceive this month. Am surprised that the radiologist didn't ask if I was pg before going ahead. Plus, I didn't have to wear one of those aprons. Do you think the lack of this could cause any problems in the future ttc? At least if I am pissed off now I can see light at the end of the tunnel which doesn't result in surgery at this moment in time. Sorry I have gone on a bit.

digitalgirl · 16/08/2007 10:56

Morning all,

Libralady - hope the pain subsides soon. I know it's prob nothing like it, but my DH pulled a back muscle really badly and couldn't move for days...you suddenly realise how fragile we all are.

Walking Womb - we're doubles Also 29, married 3 years ago and ttc my first.

Bramblina - I think conception can only happen up to a day after ovulation. Sperm can last up to 72 hours in the body but the egg only lasts 24 hours before it self destructs. So you can get pg if you have sex from three days before you ovulate and up to 24 hours after - hence the every other day advice.

After my initial rush of excitement from the first few days of bd'ing, I've run out of happy hormones and spent yesterday being rude to people and down in the dumps. Have also started to get the occasional twinge signalling AF is due in a couple of weeks (or did I just ovulate?)...however, have cycles between 28 and 36 days, so not sure when to expect it or when to test.

Must put on happy face and think +ve thoughts.

Right, off to pop a folic acid pill and set up joint account with DH.

penguinmum · 16/08/2007 18:34

Hi everyone. Am now cd14, been bding every other day since Sunday. Had some cramps 2 days ago, which I put down to being ovulation, but today I have some spotting, does anyone have any ideas what that might be?

Libralady - my husband had surgery last year for 2 prolapsed discs. He also had some muscular pain in the post-op period, but is now more or less ok, just can't lift anything heavy. He didn't have the implants though, they just took away his disc fluid. Don't know if that helps you...

josey · 16/08/2007 19:13

you sound very similar to me im having cramps and have been last couple of days on cd16 now though, the spotting could be an implantation bleed? fingers crossd it is

libralady, it sounds hopeful you wont need surgery again which is good news, though the pain isnt, not sure about the x-rays think it is only if you are pg they would affect you. I had one at the dentist not knowing i was pg with dd she is fine though
