Hi @Carley321 @Makeafamily19 @thelittlepeanut thank you for the welcome, I am currently on Cycle 10. I havent tried SMEP before so this will be first time.
I must admit we only DTD about 3 times during the fertile window so this is going to be a challenge LOL.

@Makeafamily19 sorry AF got you Sad how many times have you tried SMEP?

HayleyD84 · 17/09/2019 08:38

@omikron I know what you mean about it being hardcore, we only do it a few times in the fertile window as thats all we have the energy for atm so this will be a challenge LOL

omikron · 17/09/2019 08:57

It will be a challenge, I don't want my husband to have to perform when he doesn't want to! And then the disappointment when we plan to DTD and then it doesn't happen for whatever reason! So much pressure

Makeafamily19 · 17/09/2019 09:14

@HayleyD84 last month was the first time with SMEP. Before that we didn't DTD much either as we are always tired. Luckily I ovulate early on CD10/11, we DTD 7 times in total I think. DH is loving it at the moment though and can't wait to go again lol.

SMiles14 · 17/09/2019 09:22

Morning ladies :)
what a difference a bit of sunshine makes! I am feeling positive today, getting back to the gym and healthy eating after my holiday and trying to drink 2 litres of water a day. Need to get my health back up I think, I had shingles last month which knocked me out for 2 weeks and come back from holiday with a cough and a sniffle!
SMEP is hardcore in the fertile week, especially when your Every other days run into your Every days!! that happened to us last month and strictly speaking we should have dtd 4 days in a row but only managed 3, so we missed peak day! I think if you can get EOD in throughout the cycle, even if you dont manage the ED x 3 you still have good chances Smile

omikron · 17/09/2019 09:39

We found ttc easy the first time around! This time has more challenges!

sigmaalphamu · 17/09/2019 09:40

Old advice was always just to DTD EOD anyway wasn't it?

GoodCow · 17/09/2019 10:22

Morning All,

I've been doing some reading on food tips to increase fertility and implantation so thought I'd share. No idea if it will actually do anything but I figure it can't hurt, it's basically just healthy eating!

Pineapple for 5 days after ovulation
Drink more water
Fruit (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries & watermelon seem the most mentioned ones)
Asparagus
Reduce unfermented soy intake (such as tofu)
Bazil nuts (for the men)
Cinnamon
Less complex carbs
Less than 200mg of caffeine a day
Fresh orange juice

Who knows, but after the weekend I will give anything a shot to increase our odds!

SMiles14 · 17/09/2019 10:54

@GoodCow Ah Thank you I was just trying to do some reading myself! I saw someone else say that Oily fish 3 x a week is good too and keep drinking 2litres of water a day.
Are your OHs taking any vits/ doing anything different? I feel like hubby should help in some way and take on some of the vitamins I have to take!!!

GoodCow · 17/09/2019 11:23

I sent my DH an email with the above and said he didn't need to follow it (yet!) but that I would. He is going to cut down on caffeine but he is in better shape than I am anyway, he has much more will power when it comes to dieting and exercise than me!

HayleyD84 · 17/09/2019 12:05

@SMiles14 my husband started taking Wellman Conception, you can buy them anywhere, I started taking Fertility Smart Advanced two months ago, not sure if its made any difference and they are really expensive!.

HayleyD84 · 17/09/2019 12:08

@omikron I'm the same, we tried to DTD last night and my Son woke up in pain (growing pains), we waited until he went to sleep to quickly do it but by then it was nearly midnight and my husband has to be up at 6. We managed too but it was a rush.

This is going to be the biggest challenge as my husband hasn't got a huge sex drive, so by ovulation day I reckon the "fun" would have well and truly gone.
We'll see how we get on though Confused

Skyla01 · 17/09/2019 12:27

Thanks @Carley321 for the positive vibes! Sounds like we are all doing better today at the positive thoughts!

Smep is hard work but I think it's worth it. I'm looking forward to getting positive opk hopefully within a week. I always feel a bit better once I know ovulation is imminent!

SMiles14 · 17/09/2019 15:15

We have just Exchanged contracts on our new house!! Move next Thursday, hurraahh! I was just wondering what I was going to do to keep myself occupied in the next 2 weeks before FW haha! I hope it doesn't affect O at all, although we are mostly packed already and only moving up the road :D

Carley321 · 17/09/2019 18:51

Been there @Makeafamily19 why do our bodies need to be so cruel to us.

Sorry af got you to @thelittlepeanut. New cycle new chance!

@HayleyD84 we were the same. Life is hard and tiring without adding dtd every other night 🙈 lol. DP is kind of loving it at the mo though. He has more energy than I do.
I was looking into fertility smart because of the reviews? They are expensive

@omikron I know what you mean. The pressure can be so hard to overcome... we’ve been there ourselves.

@skyla01 🤞 ov isn’t to far away for you. The waiting game is hard!

Glad we are all feeling positive!
DP just takes Wellman and eats what I eat at the moment lol.

Skyla01 · 17/09/2019 20:35

@SMiles14 that's great news! And definitely a good way to pass the time.

I try not to worry too much about what I get up to in the run up to ovulation. I'm not sure how much it all affects ttc anyway. I was worried that I exercise too much and that might adversely affect ovulation but now I just do what I feel like. Life's too short to worry!

AdalbertWaffling · 17/09/2019 22:25

Hi everyone! This is my 4th cycle, and the first attempting the SMEP. I have a (probably quite strange) question, but my DH is quite frisky (Blush) and we generally end up DTD pretty much every day. Is this counter-intuitive? Should I be putting him off every other day so that we only DTD every other day? Or is more better? Obviously I know when I get a positive OPK then that's fine, but does he need to be "saving" his sperm until then? Can doing it that much decrease sperm amount/quality?

Skyla01 · 18/09/2019 07:50

Hi @AldabertWaffling. Sounds like you'll be doing smep super plus! The general advice is DTD every 2 or 3 days to keep a fresh supply of sperm. If you dtd every day it is harder for the man to replenish supplies so perhaps sperm could be of lower quality. I don't think dtd would really harm your chances that much. But ideally DTD every other day until ovulation and then 3 in a row probably it the best way.

BewilderedBee · 18/09/2019 12:12

Can I join? I'm cycle day 11 today and managed to DTD every other day so far! So giving SMEP a go this month!

HayleyD84 · 18/09/2019 12:57

@SMiles14 congratulations on your house, how exiting!! and a good distraction.

@AdalbertWaffling oh my, every day I would be shattered this is hard enough LOL. Maybe stick to the SMEP this month and then if it doesnt work try every day next month?

@Carley321 that's good at least you don't have to push DTD on your DP, I do sometimes with mine lol.

@BewilderedBee welcome Smile what CD are you on atm? have you been doing OPK's?

I'm on CD10 and started OPK's today. If we manage to keep up with SMEP this will be the most we've DTD in a long time LOL. Grin

Carley321 · 18/09/2019 13:35

it wasn't always like this @HayleyD84 I think ttc has given us a bit of a boost. But now I think he wants a baby more than me so he loves maximising our chances lol.

@AdalbertWaffling I think maybe stick to every other day as it keeps sperm nice and healthy.

BewilderedBee · 18/09/2019 14:53

@HayleyD84 I'm cycle day 11, my OPK was almost positive last night! Although last couple of months I got my positive on CD16! I tend to have long cycles.

thelittlepeanut · 19/09/2019 09:14

@SMiles14 that's exciting, congrats! Will definitely keep you occupied until FW :)

Welcome @BewilderedBee! How long have you been ttc? Fingers crossed for bfp!

Not much to report here, on cd3 so patiently waiting for AF to pack her bags and leave. I'm just at the hospital waiting to have my FSH & LH blood tests. Progesterone tests came back normal, which I guess is a good thing.

What supplements are people taking? I'm about to run out of pregnacare conception so wondering what everyone else is on before I repurchase.

SMiles14 · 19/09/2019 09:32

Hello All, I have been busy packing away, so excited to move now!! 7 sleeps to go and also 7 sleeps til FW :D Works out nicely!
I am taking quite an expensive one called pregna plan I think because I need more iron but I was taking seven seas and got on well with them, the pre conception ones are tiny and in a pack like the pill so its easy to hid if you need to take it around other people too. I am also taking Evening primrose Oil for CM, and shavitari which is similar to agnus cactus and regulates your cycles. Has made mine shorter, they used to be super long.

GoodCow · 19/09/2019 10:22

I'm just on the Boots own vitamins - it's far too close to pay day for the expensive ones!

I didn't know that about evening primrose, I may need to pick some up!
