Can I just add that I get really pissed fed up with those who spend a week testing when it is far to early. I dont mean those who are due tew and get a inconclusive result but those who just constantly test and tell us about it. Wait till you are due fgs.

well, the nurse asked if i was taking anti-biotics when i get pg (for GBS) they will also run more in depth tests including a lap & dye.

Well that sounds good at least they are taking you seriously, which is something the normal docs dont really do isnt it!

exactly, i told her how frustrated i am with our current consultant (who basically told me to go away, put on weight and we'll start on clomid soon) he's focussing on my infertility, not my inability to carry

He must have missed the 6 MC thing. You dont seem to have a problem with the making bit but the keeping bit. Bloody men they are all crap.

i know. he's also overlooked the glaringly obvious point that the only bean that stuck (apart from ds) was outside the womb. the research I did said that GBS can live in the womb for years, as soon as a bean becomes active (6w mark, ringing any bells?) it gives them a MASSIVE dose of streptococcus.

Can they not give you massive dose of IV antibiotics to clear it before any more beans get infected?

from what i can gather as soon as i find out im pg i have to start on a 2w course of anti-biotics to clear the GBS with regular top ups. thats if i can get them to accept that its a problem (tho it took 2w after ds was born to test the placenta and find it)

I thought that GBS was a very common risk post delivery and that they were supposed to check straight away if you show symptoms?
If you are forceful enough, which I think you probably are by now, then you should show them your research and all your test results. They cant brush you off as a looney female then!

ah, but i had an emergency cs so its not necessary to test for GBS. however i was contracting from 35w and the infection got into my womb that way. its quite rare.

Well I did know you were special but I didnt realise just quite how!

I now have to pretend to do just enough housework to make it look like I have been very busy before I pick up dd2 from nursery!

lissie I have 2 friends who had gbs in their first pg's and in their second pgs they had big warning stickers all over their files.... nuff said

i dont understand why they cant just do tests in pg. its disgraceful!

lissie, do you have a consultant appointment looming?

i have a scan on weds to make sure its all gone having a nightmare getting referral to LWH, even tho my consultant wont consider antibiotics or progesterone. im so angry i could cry!

I did a spot of googling about recurrent miscarriage earlier, and it did seem that the Liverpool Womens Hospital and St Mary's Paddington came up again and again. You may have to bug them and bug them to get a referral though- they seem to hate referring people out of the authority area.

If you have a bit of money it might be worth fast tracking to get a private appointment with the same consultant you want to see on the NHS. You can then ask the qus you have and ask what you have to do to been seen on the NHS. I did this and the consultant was appalled how long the process was taking and said to insist the NHS secretary fit me in asap - which they did. He also told me what treatments I could expect to get on NHS and what was only available privately plus approx costs. I'm a lefty and get annoyed that I'm even suggesting this - but sometimes bureaucracy seems to hold back the care.
