New Year, new thread! 🍾πŸ₯‚

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping 2019 brings some BFP luck to us all!! πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»

Don't be angry with yourself @VenusStarr ❀️ Sounds like you're doing everything right to put yourself back on track for your 23 BMI. I love meal planning/cooking and my lunches usually involve using leftovers for lunches (Nigella's 'Kitchen' book is quite good for that kind of cooking).

I love that you disapprove of dry January @Pinkywoo! πŸ˜„ I've never tried it before (didn't see the point, in all honesty), but it's my bargaining chip with DP to keep him focused on his diet programme (he respects that I'm giving up something that I love to support him giving up something he loves, if you see what I mean 🍝). Have you set a wedding date after your Christmas engagement or is it on the back burner? πŸ’

I think it's the nature of my working day @ladybranstonpickle! 😬 I have a reasonable commute on the train and a stressful job with pretty regular breaks that enable me to retreat and obsess about TTC instead of work for a few minutes throughout the day! πŸ˜‚ How was your weekend visiting your folks?x

Pinkywoo · 09/01/2019 13:17

Actually @BambiOnIce80 my wedding dress just arrived! I think it will be this summer (depending on possible pregnancy!), and will be just the two of us on the beach of a Scottish island, probably Mull.

79andnotout · 09/01/2019 14:02

@Pinkywoo - that sounds great! If DP and I got married it would be along similar lines. I would find it impossible working out a guest list with my enormous family and friendship circles (I have a habit of staying in touch with everyone, which is nice in general but not good for weddings). OH has bugger all friends or family so it would very much be a one sided affair too.

@VenusStarr don't be too hard on yourself. I am too scared to step on the scales but I can feel my cheeks have increased in size (face not bum, although I'm sure that has too it's just out of sight, out of mind).

Just called the gynaecologist dept at the hospital as I still haven't had my letter for the next appointment, and it's the same answer - I'm on the list for a booking but no idea when I'll get it. I have three months now until I am officially too old to be referred for NHS IVF. I can feel that opportunity slipping through my fingers...

tigsyboo · 09/01/2019 16:06

Have any of you guys experienced an anovulatory cycle after MC??

I’ve been testing since my β€˜period’ (I think it was that) which came 26 days after ERPC and absolutely nothing.... On CD 17 now! Using cbfm in a morning (been β€˜high’ for 11 days) and internet cheapie opk at tea time - completely negative!!

Dr doesn’t seem bothered but I really am (obviously!)

I’ve recently stopped pregnacare as read this can mess up cycles and just taking folic acid... temping is all over the place too (awaiting arrival if fancy temping machine!!)

Anyone had similar?? Xx

BambiOnIce80 · 09/01/2019 16:10

Oooh, that's very exciting @Pinkywoo!! 🀩 I do love a Scottish Island (which is handy, because we live in Scotland 😁) and I would wholeheartedly recommend Colonsay - depending on the level of seclusion you require. Absolutely stunning beaches and coast line with barely any people about to spoil it! We went last year at the end of April and DP got sunburn with the weather being so good β˜€οΈWe stayed at a cottage with a couple who run one of the gin distilleries there (extra added bonus πŸΈπŸ˜‰).

That's crap news @79andnotout 😟 Potentially daft question (I know you're super thorough), but are you sure your local authority stops at 40? When I was TTC down south with the ex 5ish years ago it was certainly the case and it's what I assumed would still be the case this time round... Then I checked the NICE guidelines when we got referred this time round and it'd changed in late 2017 to recommend 1 cycle of IVF if over 40. Checked my local ACU and they've adopted the guidance (thankfully otherwise I'd be out of the running by the time we get there). Whatever is the case, I hope they pull their fingers out and get you in ASAP!!

OP posts:
79andnotout · 09/01/2019 16:20

@BambiOnIce80 - yeah they still treat you if you're over 40 but you have to be referred before you're 39 and 7 months, which is pretty soon! Anyway, I explained this to the receptionist and she said she'd email bookings. Fingers crossed!

BambiOnIce80 · 09/01/2019 17:48

@79andnotout, well that's a relief! πŸ˜ͺ Let's hope that email turns up by the end of week 🀞🏻Still waiting on my letter, but going to give them until the end of the month before I chase them again πŸ‘

Sorry I can't help @tigsyboo πŸ’ If you're getting your high reading then fingers-crossed you'll get your peak really soon πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€

So... did my standard β€˜just had my tea and now time to wee in a pot’ OPK routine ... and there’s definitely a line! Fished the last two days out of the bathroom bin (minging but necessary!) which were both clear negatives and I think there is a progression although not a positive yet.
I’m looking for honesty... If it means nothing please tell me I promise not to sulk lol! πŸ˜‚

Hi @tigsyboo - I don't think ive had one. However I'm in the same situation as you I think, where we are in our first cycle after MC. I tried to do OPK's, but I kept getting some colour on the stick every day which just baffled me. I got a reading which was darker in colour that the rest and near to the test line. As OPK's where making me more confused, i put them to one side. Might try again next month? This cycle, I am relying upon BBT, CM and CP alone to determine O day.

How would you know if you are having a annovulatory cycle? Hope you are doing okay.

Amanda81 · 09/01/2019 19:18

@BambiOnIce80 - so very jealous that you live in Scotland. It's my fave place and our second home.

@tigsyboo -definitely a line! If you tested again in a few hours it could go darker.

PixieN · 09/01/2019 19:19

Welcome to the new ladies and welcome back to @TheNewbieStep and @Wheresthehope

@79andnotout - that’s really annoying. I would push as much as you can and keep contacting them. Can your GP help you chase it too as it’s so time critical? Hopefully they’ll get their arses in gear soon. One of my friends is late 30s and it’s all systems go to get her through IVF before the cut off point which is 39 in our area. That’s reminded me that I need to get on at DH to organise his SA!

I’m trying to lose weight too @VenusStarr - I find it really hard as I love food. The cold weather makes me want to eat more, but i’ve been trying to be good. Leftovers and salads are great - had a feta salad today.

@PinkyWoo your wedding idea sounds perfect. We only had a small number of guests and were married by the sea. It was lovely πŸ’•

Amanda81 · 09/01/2019 19:21

@79andnotout - it's appalling that the waiting list is so long. I hope you get your letter very soon

PixieN · 09/01/2019 19:21

@tigsyboo definitely a line Smile

tigsyboo · 09/01/2019 19:22

@amanda

I had diagnosed MMC on Nov 27th which was 9+5... erpc on 29th.
Bleeding /AF on 24th... flooding bleeding on 25th (merry Christmas to me!)
I literally have zero CM.... none!! Had a day of it like mad 2 days after Op and nothing since...

I do clearblue monitor on the am and internet cheapies on pm... I’m temping but it’s ALL over the place... I’ll post my chart. I’m CD 17 now...

Kescilly · 09/01/2019 19:23

@79andnotout that’s ridiculous that you have to just watch the clock tick away like that. I hope that you get your appointment soon!

@tigsyboo sorry, I was useless with OPKs. Went straight to using the monitor this time around.

Trying to figure out if we can afford to go to Bath for a few days next month, thanks for the suggestions. Anyone have a recommendation on a place to stay? Although we might end up with a staycation to save money.

Twenty week scan tomorrow, nervous now!

tigsyboo · 09/01/2019 19:25

@kescilly.... bath McDonald spa hotel!!! Omg!! We had a mini moon there in April for 2 nights as our honeymoon wasn’t until July
It’s LOVELY!!

Amanda81 · 09/01/2019 19:28

@Kescilly - Amazing milestone to achieve, sending a hand hold 🀞🏻

79andnotout · 09/01/2019 19:30

@Kescilly get those child free breaks in while you still can! I don't know bath well but it seems very beautiful and worth a visit for sure.

@tigsyboo you may have ovulated yesterday. If so your temp will continue to increase over the next day or two.

@Amanda81 - ride like the clappers, as they might say in my homeland.

Yeah bit annoying with the appointment. They've been pretty good so far so I think it's just admin/Christmas faff. I will keep calling if I hear nothing by early next week.

79andnotout · 09/01/2019 19:32

Although @Amanda81 I've just seen you're still getting negative opks so yeah looks like no ovulation yet. Guess it takes a while for cycles to settle.

Amanda81 · 09/01/2019 19:35

@tigsyboo - very similar situation really.
12 week scan diagnose MMC, measured 10+1. ERPC a few days after. Took 5 weeks on the nose for my period to come, but also had ovulation signs (for the first time ever) before period arrived, so I knew it was coming. This first cycle after MMC has been all over the place, temps have been erratic, but there has been a pattern and my CM is reduced from usual. Give it time. I hear that the stress hormone can play with your hormones, so try your best not to agonise too much over it (if you are) it will happen, and looks like it is about to happen with the OPK's. x

tigsyboo · 09/01/2019 20:10

Thanks @amanda
Thanks for sharing it’s reasuring having someone to bounce off!!
Xx

BambiOnIce80 · 09/01/2019 20:21

That looks like a very nearly BFP OPK to me @tigsyboo πŸ‘ If your temp continues going up over the next couple of days, then I reckon there's a chance you're either oving today or tomorrow. Time to get on it for you so that there's plenty of sperm about to meet that egg!

Sending you lots of positive vibes for tomorrow's scan @Kescilly (not that you'll need them πŸ’–).

I am so, so lucky living here @Amanda81 😊 How are you doing today? Is it 10dpo for you?

So. Is anyone else my level of crazy?! πŸ€ͺ I was intrigued/impatient to know if this morning's whopper of a temp (36.74Β°C when my baseline is ~36.04 - 36.10Β°C) was genuine or due to the crap nights sleep, so I did my temp when I got home tonight to see what my 'normal' body temp is. Turns out the answer is 36.34Β°C 🀨 Now very intrigued to see what it does tomorrow morning (today's graph attached) πŸ€”Feeling a bit like AF is creeping towards me, but I'm really looking forward to next month to see if the data replicates itself and my chart looks like this every month... I bloody love science!! πŸŒ‘οΈπŸ€“

@PixieN Its nice to be back but sad at the same time!
@VenusStarr I hear what your saying! I have let myself get overweight and its so depressing esp now I am getting older its harder to lose the weight!
@BambiOnIce80 your chart looks exciting! fingers crossed :) @tigsyboo I had a mmc back in June and it took months for my cycles to regulate. It was terrible

Sorry ive prob jumped in late to the conversation :D

79andnotout · 09/01/2019 22:00

@BambiOnIce80 I'd be testing already, but I'd say your chart looks nice but i wouldn't read too much into the further temp rise yet. I've had what I thought was triphasic patterns and implantation dips so many times and it was just my chart wrecking my head. AF arrived on time as usual...
