New Year, new thread! 🍾πŸ₯‚

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping 2019 brings some BFP luck to us all!! πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»

Sounds hopeful @Carley321 πŸ‘ You'd best get on it! πŸ˜‰

@BambiOnIce80 steak is quite a significant fall from grace! I only had one small glass of wine in the end so not too bad. Another shite week at work with one of the managers quitting so felt like I deserved it! I can't wait to sack off this job once the promise of enhanced mat pay is no longer appealing.

@pattyhoo - cycles looking good. The third one looks more stable, for sure.

Hope everything is okay @CNizzle

Amanda81 · 05/01/2019 15:11

@79andnotout well done for making it to the 4th Jan!

Amanda81 · 05/01/2019 15:16

@PixieN - fertility cakes sound amazing! @BambiOnIce80 Maca root sounds interesting! Worth a punt!

Amanda81 · 05/01/2019 15:20

Well it's another increase for me today on the BBT, that makes e DPO6 at 36.56 from 35.4 yesterday. I guess upward progress is good

Pinkywoo · 05/01/2019 17:26

I'm throughly confused as had a positive opk yesterday and today, what does that mean?!

Amanda81 · 05/01/2019 18:42

@Pinkywoo - it could be that you have a long LH surge. I'm still very much a novice but I have heard this from other threads

Pinkywoo · 05/01/2019 18:46

Ok thanks @Amanda81, I've not heard of that, is it good or bad? And when is the best time to dtd?!

Amanda81 · 05/01/2019 20:00

@Pinkywoo I don't think it means either a good or bad thing, every woman is different. I found the below link useful

www.avawomen.com/avaworld/long-lh-surge-last/

Pinkywoo · 05/01/2019 20:33

That's helpful, thanks!

BambiOnIce80 · 05/01/2019 20:33

I've read that some people's LH surges last over 24 hours too @Pinkywoo. I'd take it as a good thing and just DTD as often as you can whilst you've got it πŸ‘

I'm one day behind you @Amanda81 on 5dpo πŸ™‚ My temp is still up too, but I guess it will be until AF arrives πŸ™„ I was doing some reading around 'implantation dips' in temp and it turns out it's another one of those things like implantation bleeding in that it's the minority of women who get it. You can also get what you think is one and not be pregnant because it can just be our oestrogen levels kicking in during the luteal phase at between 6 & 11dpo... at least the temping is still useful to see when ovulation is happening. Glass half full and all that! 🍸

Amanda81 · 05/01/2019 21:21

@BambiOnIce80 - yes. I definitely will be trying very hard not to be getting my hope with any dips in my BBT over the next few days. It will be so hard not to 😬. I will of course keep you updated. We are almost cycle buddies 🀣🀣

@Pinkywoo - I gave up trying to catch my LH surge. Kept peeing on a stick from CD8 and everyday I was getting a lukewarm colour, but not quite matching. I think it can only be a good thing that you have got a few days of strong LH...at least you can catch it, it all helps to define when that golden egg is released 😊

I am oddly getting a bit of cramping tonight...hmmm what could that be, probs just eaten too much πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Amanda81 · 05/01/2019 21:22

@BambiOnIce80 - how long are your cycles?

BambiOnIce80 · 05/01/2019 22:22

@Amanda81 they usually alternate between 28 & 29 days, but I'm guessing there's a chance this cycle will be 30 because I didn't ov until CD17. Basically I'm expecting AF anytime from next Saturday onwards... which is why it'd be nice if my temp could've helped me out and dropped and stayed down on the lead up to AF to help manage my expectations πŸ™„ I hate the crushing disappointment of FRER's and I'd hoped the temping might have helped 🌑️When is AF due for you, cycle buddy?! πŸ˜„

I'm ok @79andnotout thanks. It was a very close pal's mum that passed away just before Christmas, she had a relapse of her cancer and had recently been treated in my work, so I'd seen quite a lot of her. I think I took it very hard with my poor dad reaching end of life too. I felt a bit of a fraud being so upset, when it wasn't my relative, but the tears just kept coming. Im an emotional wreck.
Sounds like your glass of wine was warranted with all that work nonsense!
I've been 100% back on it with slimmng world. Got a wee holiday booked at the end of jan (perfectly timed for AF πŸ™„) and I need a good amount of lbs gone. Then when I'm back i need to work on getting my BMI under 30, sadly it's currently about 33.

Amanda81 · 06/01/2019 08:40

@BambiOnIce80 - my cycle lengths are 28 days usually. However, as this is my first real cycle after MC I was anticipating some shift in this. Who knows! Based on my BBT I ov'd on the 30/12 which puts me at 7dpo today. I also had signs of ovulation on the evening of 29/12 (spotting), which could make me 8dpo. I am going of FF stats at the moment so am going with 7dpo...not sure what else the spotting could be???

Blondcat · 06/01/2019 10:17

Morning ladies I didn't realise I had not had any notifications for a while and didn't get one to say I had been tagged in a post for the new thread! (baby brain in full flow!)

Hope everyone is good. I am 17+2 today looking forward to my holiday this time next week (sneaking in some sun) and good distraction to keep me busy before scan at end of Jan.

Weathergirl1 · 06/01/2019 14:09

@pinkywoo I've been using cheapy OPKs for nearly 3 years (to help Natural Cycles work out my body, rather than to TTC!) And I tend to get two days of strong colours on the sticks. I also noticed that I got stronger colours if I tested later in the day, so around 5-7pm (usually the instructions say early afternoon). Don't know if it's a good or a bad thing as I've not tried to use them in anger yet!

As LH surges in advance of potential ovulation, you might get a surge that doesn't result in the release of an egg, and then your body has another go. One thing I have noticed is that heavy stress has an impact on delaying ovulation - that particular cycle was longer for me because ovulation was later - but it's only happened where the predicted ovulation day was the day or two after the stressful event so whether stress impacts probably depends exactly where in the cycle it happens iyswim. I do find this sort of stuff really interesting - I'm a bit of a geek, I confess!

79andnotout · 06/01/2019 15:10

My opks were strong for several days in a row last year. The attached pic was with four days worth of opks. Comparing with my temps it seems I'd ovulated the day after the first positive and my lh would just stay high for some reason. It's not like that anymore, I get one surge, usually around 8pm, and ovulate the next day, as confirmed by my temp dip and subsequent rise.

I've got a relatively predictable cycle and no physical issues - why aren't I pregnant yet dammit. @BambiOnIce80 I know you're in the same boat - everything looks good on paper but it's just not happening.

Pinkywoo · 06/01/2019 15:34

Thanks @Weathergirl1 and @79andnotout, I need to read up on this I think, and possibly start temping. I'm wary of getting obsessed with it all, but on the other hand we're booked in for fertility tests in May so the information could be handy if I'm not pregnant by then, arghh ttc is very complicated!

BambiOnIce80 · 06/01/2019 15:36

We are indeed @79andnotout β›΅ A really bloody frustrating boat 😏 A boat that will be heading for many pets and a Chilean wine tour if pregnancy doesn't come along in the next 18 months! 🐢🍾πŸ₯‚

@BambiOnIce80 aye aye Cap'n. See you aboard.

@Pinkywoo the more data the better in my opinion. My docs have all been quite happy to listen to my summaries and add that data to their own judgements.

umpteennamechanges · 06/01/2019 16:25

Well my first pack of Pregnacare just turned up...but I've realised I'm away for a week in September with my Mum and Nan (all paid for by my DM)

So I think we can't start TTC for a couple of months though I'm tempted to just crack on once my next AF is out of the way....

What would you guys do?

BambiOnIce80 · 06/01/2019 16:36

When I started out TTC @umpteennamechanges I would predict ahead and not book foreign travel or boozie staycations with my mates, but now it doesn't even cross my mind!πŸ™„

Is the September holiday something that could be moved forward if you did fall pregnant straight away? I bet your mum and nan wouldn't mind because they'd be delighted you were pregnant...

I'm not sure how moving holidays work...I think she bought a package so presumably if I paid an admin fee we could move to another date as long as there was space.
