New Year, new thread! 🍾πŸ₯‚

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping 2019 brings some BFP luck to us all!! πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»

@umpteennamechanges - I personally would crack on with TTC, but obviously be prepared to make any necessary changes to the holiday if required. Based upon my own experience I started TTC a year ago and decided to try my best to not let it take over every decision I make. This is very hard to do, but would advise to start as you mean to go on. I do hope your first few months of TTC are successful ones 😊

MrsRRC · 06/01/2019 18:47

I agree, crack on with your ttc plans. You don’t know how long it will take and having to drop of of a holiday is a drop in the ocean in comparison. Good luck πŸ€

Kescilly · 06/01/2019 19:37

@umpteennamechanges you might still be able to travel anyway! Unless it’s in a Zika area or you get really sick or something. I got my BFP the morning before we left to go the US and it was fine.

I’m also an advocate of carrying on with your life. I watched too many friends put their lives on hold do something that didn’t happen, or took years to happen. We’ve ended up wasting money on a few things but I don’t regret the choices we’ve made.

Also remember to take your folic acid as soon as you know you are going to TTC! It can take three months to build up in your system.

79andnotout · 06/01/2019 20:22

Another one saying crack on. Better to regret a lost holiday than lost time. If we were in our twenties I'd have a different response, but time is of the essence.

PixieN · 06/01/2019 20:41

Yep - I reckon you should just crack on with it too and see what happens Smile Don’t put your life on hold. Good luck! πŸ’•

Carley321 · 06/01/2019 21:07

Yea I would crack on. I always had an excuse to wait.... Holidays, work, events, alcohol plans. I’m now 9 months into ttc and wishing I’d started a year and 9 months ago. Having said that i have been patiently wIting for my body to regain some normality after birth control.

Sorry about the constant name changes ladies. No idea what the heck is going on. Mumsnet keeps throwing me out.... I don’t think I’m welcome anymore πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

PixieN · 06/01/2019 21:18

I started a new job and thought it would look bad if I fell pregnant straight away so we put ttc off for a while. Somehow it’s 3 years later..... Confused

Kescilly · 06/01/2019 21:22

At the same time, I found it annoying when other people would tell me we needed to crack on with it. It’s not like I was unaware of the statistics involved with increasing age!

I wanted to get to know my husband and see how well we did without children first. I knew that if we had a child and our marriage went south, I’d be stuck in this country forever.

Morning All

I may have said before, but I am currently in the TWW of my first cycle after mc. I am 8dpo (but could be 9dpo). For the last two days (this being the third) I am feeling nauseous upon waking and in the evening, say from 6pm. I am chalking this down to hormones and things still aligning. Anyone else on here, who has had the very unfortunate experience of a mc, had odd feelings during their first cycle?

The nausea feels very much like my morning sickness (which I used to get in the evening), but I didn't get it until I was 7 weeks last time.

Blueberry1 · 07/01/2019 13:07

Hello ladies, hope 2019 will bring happy BFPs!

Quick update from me for those who remember the first three threads. My son was born last May when I was 42 and is now 8 months old and nearly 10 kgs (bloody heavy to carry!). He now eats solids , has 5 teeth, sits up very well and crawls, but so far only backwards and in circles Grin. Despite having older parents (DP is older than me), he's one of the healthiest babies around.

Any other babies born yet from this thread? Sooz?

PixieN · 07/01/2019 16:12

Hi @Blueberry1 Lovely to hear from you & Happy New Year! Glad little Blueberry is doing well. Sounds like he’s getting more mobile - you’ll be chasing around after him I bet Grin I read on another thread that @SoozC had her baby and is doing well πŸ’•@Blondcat is also pregnant - think she was also around when you were? I’m still ttc and no luck yet, but finally got my act together by using opks and getting the cb monitor. Hoping 2019 is a lucky year for me and the other lovely ladies ttc on the thread. Yours is such a lovely success story - gives us all hope x

PixieN · 07/01/2019 16:16

@Amanda81 I haven’t experienced an mc and don’t really know what to make of your symptoms. It sounds like pregnancy symptoms to me. Hopefully someone will be along to advise x

79andnotout · 07/01/2019 16:56

Sorry @Amanda81 - I've not had a miscarriage either so can't help. Hang tight for another couple of days and test? When's AF due?

Great to hear you're all doing well @Blueberry1! How are you finding it all? Have you enough energy? I'm still bimbling along here. Hopefully by the 10th iteration of this thread my status will have changed :)

Amanda81 · 07/01/2019 17:54

@Blueberry1 - I wasn't on the previous threads, but just wanted to say how nice it is to hear your story...pleased to hear you are happy and all is well.

BambiOnIce80 · 07/01/2019 17:55

I'm no use either on that one @Amanda81, sorry πŸ˜” Sounds hopeful though 🀞🏻

7dpo here and the only 'symptom' I can report is absolutely rubbish insomnia! 😩 I slept so badly last night that my whizzy new running watch didn't even class it as sleep! πŸ˜• Despite much optimistic googling though, it doesn't seem to crop up much as a symptom of early pregnancy (a sign of impending AF, but not pregnancy πŸ™„). Boobs aren't tender at all yet either (normally they are by this CD) ... If it wasn't for my temp rise I think I'd be questioning whether my progesterone had kicked in this cycle at all πŸ˜“

Amanda81 · 07/01/2019 17:59

@PixieN @79andnotout - thanks for coming back to me. It's driving me nuts! I don't think I would be that lucky to catch on my first cycle. I work from my home office and today has been an absolute right-off with day-dreaming and wishful thinking 😬😬. I'm due on either Saturday or Sunday...time will tell. At least it will keep me off the wine until the weekend πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Amanda81 · 07/01/2019 18:20

@BambiOnIce80 - are you apprehensive about anything? (Other than the process of ttc?). Apprehension normally gives me a sleepless night.

Blondcat · 07/01/2019 18:27

@amanda81 I had a mc at 6 weeks prior to this pregnancy and my cycles were a bit of for a couple of months after. All sorts of symptoms which could have gone either way. I would stay positive that these are good signs but try not to get your hopes up to much. It took 6 cycles to fall again but I know from the ttc after loss group I was on that some are very lucky and fall again much sooner. Fingers crossed for you.

@blueberry1 lovely to hear from you and good to know you are getting on well. I am 17+3 today feeling a bit more human after the first trimester fug and nausea.

BambiOnIce80 · 07/01/2019 18:29

I'm not WFH and I'm bad enough with the symptom spotting/daydreaming @Amanda81, so I can only imagine how things are at your end! I'm no more stressed out than normal, so really not sure what's going on with this crap sleep quality thing that's going on πŸ˜• I'm soooo knackered that tonight I've surely got to be spark-out unconscious 🀞🏻😴🀞🏻😴

Carley321 · 07/01/2019 18:42

Sorry @Amanda81 I can’t help either. But keeping 🀞 for you.

@Blueberry1 I wasn’t here either but thought I’d say hi πŸ‘‹.

@BambiOnIce80 maybe work anxiety? I certainly get it on a Sunday lol.
Well it’s still early days and I’ll be keeping my 🀞 and toes crossed for you.

I think I’m 2dpo here, had a pos OPK sat and again yesterday (although the lines weren’t as visible as Sat) so I’m assuming OD May have been Sat?

Blueberry1 · 07/01/2019 21:40

Hi @blondcat, glad your pregnancy is progressing well. I felt much better after 1st trimester was over as constant low level nausea went & I was less tired. I wish you the same!

Hi @carley321 & @amanda81 - nice to "meet" you & good luck!

To the symptom spotters; been there done that Wink. I was convinced several times before I fell pregnant that BFP was on the cards as I was bona fide late (3+ days), my boobs hurt more than normal & other stuff & they were all false alarms. Then when I did get pregnant (IVF 1st cycle, 2nd embryo transfer), I was late, but absolutely sure I wasn't pregnant as no particular symptoms. I did a test to put me out of my misery & got a shock when it turned positive before my eyes Shock!!

I didn't have any real pregnancy symptoms until 6-7 weeks when I started to feel nauseous & fatigued.

I was advised by a pharmacist not to test until 14DPO as tests may not be accurate before that as HCG hormone levels may be too low to be detected. That's why even first response type tests say in tiny writing that they're only 99% accurate once AF is due....

Blueberry1 · 07/01/2019 21:44

oh & little blueberry isn't nearly 10kg, but just over 10kgs in a nappy! I weighed him by the very accurate (ahem....) method of getting him to sit on the bathroom scales without resting his feet on the floor Grin.

Kescilly · 07/01/2019 22:12

Hi Blueberry! I also came in after you had your little blueberry, but I do remember you posting. Glad to hear that all is well.

PixieN · 07/01/2019 23:06

@79andnotout you made me laugh with your β€˜10th iteration’ of the thread comment. Think i’ll be joining you! Grin

ZoeRoma · 08/01/2019 07:38

@Blueberry1 I sympathize on the big baby issue because our first is 9 kilos and isn't even 5 months old till the 21st!!! My back is killing. He's right on the top line in the percentile charts.
