New Year, new thread! 🍾πŸ₯‚

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping 2019 brings some BFP luck to us all!! πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»

@Amanda81 - I doubt that will have much effect. I'm Irish and tend to drink far too much if I do drink (seems to go with the stereotype!)

Under the graph it might say 'chart duo' - that's where I compare to previous charts. I have the paid for version of the app though, not sure if you do too.

Carley321 · 04/01/2019 19:27

Evening all.

@Amanda81 I don’t temp but thinking about starting too after hearing what @BambiOnIce80 had to say 😊. I will also be reading your reply’s.

I am 32 (under 35 obviously but just never felt comfortable on any other forum and now don’t know what I’d do without the support of this one). DP has wanted children for around 2 years but I’ve always been a little cautious but finally decided that children are most definitely what we want and we will never be more ready.
Ttc since May but I’m very irregular after stoppping birth control so just 4 natural Cycles. Had high hopes this month as my last cycle was just 31 days but feeling like my bodies back up to it’s old tricks. 🀞 I am wrong.

PixieN · 04/01/2019 19:35

Hi all, just to sum up:

I’m 36 TTC 1 and have been tracking for 17 months and trying on/off. Been much more focused during the last 6 months and using the cb fertility monitor for the last 2 months. DH is older than me and luckily changed his mind about wanting a baby. We have 2 fur babies who I love to bits. I would have more if DH let me Smile

Amanda81 · 04/01/2019 19:40

@79andnotout thanks and good to know about the drinking impact on temps. I do like a glass on vino! πŸ₯‚I shelled out for the paid version on FF, not much really and felt it was worth it if I wanted a helping hand with finding out when I Ov'd.

Over the festive break I have found that I haven't been sleeping very well, and think this may have disrupted some of the temps.

BambiOnIce80 · 04/01/2019 19:54

... I can testify to the effect of alcohol on BBT 🍾πŸ₯‚πŸ˜¬ Drank probably a whole bottle of wine to myself on an empty stomach at a friend's birthday last Friday and my temp went from 36.10 that morning to 37.10 the morning after the night before πŸ€’ Totally scrambled my chart! I'll be interested to see how next cycle goes with dry January hopefully working in my favour to give some crystal clear data 🀞🏻

... You know what I'm oddly looking forward to with this first round of temping? Seeing my temp go down and stay down when AF is on her way so that I don't unnecessarily get my hopes up or pointlessly do FRER's! I think it's going to help manage my expectations (and kick my inner symptom spotting psycho into touch! πŸ€ͺ🀞🏻).

OP posts:
79andnotout · 04/01/2019 19:57

@BambiOnIce80 my temp only drops the day before AF - unfortunately still plenty of time to do FRERs!

Amanda81 · 04/01/2019 20:01

@BambiOnIce80 I know what you mean about symptom spotting. Before I had the MC I felt nothing, totally oblivious as to what was going on down there. Afterwards, (i think) I feel everything. I absolutely love the chemistry of it all. Abit like you, im a self confessed nerd when it comes to research and stats!

Amanda81 · 04/01/2019 20:03

@BambiOnIce80 @79andnotout ...wanted to say also, pleased to hear that people are still enjoying a glass or two. I decided against dry January, i knew I would fail big-time. However, I have made a conscious effort to drink within the guideline limits.

BambiOnIce80 · 04/01/2019 20:16

Dammit! ! 😩 Thanks for managing my expectations though @79andnotout ❀️

@Amanda81 I love wine and gin (probably a bit too much! 😳), but I've been mostly keeping to

OP posts:
Amanda81 · 04/01/2019 20:22

@BambiOnIce80 - that should be a well deserved treat if you manage to make it through 🀞🏻

Amanda81 · 04/01/2019 20:24

@Carley321 - I was a little hesitant at first with starting BBT as I was slightly concerned with the alarm going off at 7am each day. But I find that the reward is far greater than the early wake up call - finding out so much about what my body is actually doing...and you've gotta love a graph! Grin

79andnotout · 04/01/2019 21:40

Well I made it to the 4th Jan without having a drink Blush

I really am lame.

CNizzle · 05/01/2019 00:16

Hola all, been MIA for a few days, just trying to take a bit of time off t'internet. Had a funeral to go to yesterday, so been trying to lie-low in general. Nice to see lots of new ladies, hiya!
Here's my summary: 38, been with partner 16+ years but only just managing to adult! TTC for 14 cycles (just over 12 months) but off BC for over 2 years. Been referred to ACS, HyCoSy showed possible issues with one tube, although both passed the dye. Awaiting laporoscopy referral. starting to think i may have endometriosis, although i have a definite Dr Google diagnosis(!). Supreme-symptom spotter, BBT taker, HR measurer, OPK obsessive. Love a chart. Currently CD11, FW imminent. 🀣

umpteennamechanges · 05/01/2019 00:18

I'm trying to avoid the OPks and temping for the time being. We TTC for about 5 months a couple of years ago and I found I became quite obsessed!

Hoping to 'just shag' and see what happens for a few months Grin

Lets pretend this will happen but we all know I will be temping and using ovulation kits, symptom spotting and using FRERs from 10dpo after the first cycle

Joboanna · 05/01/2019 00:41

Oh no! Flo tells me I’m ovulating next weekend but I’m away with β€œthe girls”. If I’m away Friday and Saturday, when’s the next best time to try?

35+ TTC#1 Thread 5
CNizzle · 05/01/2019 00:48

@Joboanna right up until you go away!! You're gonna have a fun week!

Pinkywoo · 05/01/2019 08:38

@umpteennamechanges I said exactly the same thing, yet here I am peeing into a little pot every morning!

My summary is - 38, been ttc for two months as had to wait for dermoid cyst surgery on my right ovary (which either shrivelled up and died in a corner or is just too small and damaged to show up on an ultrasound). Now it's a race against time to have babies before the cysts on the left damage the ovary, or I'm forced to have surgery which will also damage it, and DP (who wanted to wait) shit himself when the consultant said "it's now or never"!

Joboanna · 05/01/2019 10:32

@CNizzle if you insist! It’s gonna be a busy week. Grin

79andnotout · 05/01/2019 10:54

I blackmailed DP into the dog, I have him a choice of dog or baby, fully expecting to get both after a couple of years. That backfired on me!

BambiOnIce80 · 05/01/2019 11:01

I nearly caved last night too @79andnotout. Friday night without a G&T felt very bad and wrong πŸ˜” The only thing that stopped me was finding out that DP had caved on veganuary and had steak for lunch, so I'm martyring on to take the moral high ground (yes, I am that kind of bee-atch 😏).

@umpteennamechanges, I also said when starting TTC this time round that I wouldn't go near an OPK and I wouldn't consider IVF... I lasted 2 cycles without the OPK's, I started using fertility lube 2 months after that, I started temping 6 months after that and I know I'm going to start tracking my heart rate next month! πŸ˜‚ Went to the doc after 6 cycles for the ACU referral too to hopefully get a round of IVF! The game plan seems to go straight out the window when TTC πŸ™„ Hopefully you'll get your BFP quickly and won't have to join my level of crazyπŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€πŸ€ͺ!

Totally agree with @CNizzle @Joboanna- you need to get on it this week! πŸ˜„ I'd even try to DTD Friday morning before you go away, if you can.

A funeral? Hope you're alright @CNizzle πŸ’β€οΈ

Feeling somewhat 'big brothered' by my amazon prime account at the moment 😳 It popped up that I might be interested in their flash sale on maca root extract... I've never looked it up on there but I guess because I bought OPK's, fertility lube, IC FRER's, conception support vitamins and a BBT thermometer from them they're now throwing other things I 'might be interested in' my way πŸ™„

... I totally bought the maca root extract pills!! πŸ˜¬πŸ’Š πŸ˜¬πŸ’Š

I'm so glad to have this thread to check in on Smile I have no one to talk to in real life about this (apart from DP but he isn't temping or peeing on sticks so it's different somehow!).

I'm 35, been TTC for 4 cycles, I have a cyst on one ovary and the other is affected by endo although I have not yet had a lap to formally diagnose it. If we don't conceive in the next 2 cycles I think I'll be having that done.

My temps have been different over the Christmas break - I was drinking more in November & first half of December because of work events etc but then took it easy over the actual festive break. At the moment they seem very 'relaxed' in comparison to last 2 cycles!

I use natural cycles app but I am confused by its ovulation marker - it has never placed the marker on the days that I get a positive OPK Confused so I don't know if I believe the date it calculates. I am pretty sure the first three dates it marked as ovulation are wrong because I think I ovulate earlier than most (learnt that after using the CB OPKs).

Anyhow, here's my last three cycles for the data needs to analyse! πŸ€“

Carley321 · 05/01/2019 11:35

I loved the thought of no opk and just doing what you need to when the moment arises but Nop I caved pretty early too lol. I couldn’t and still can’t cope with not knowing what’s going on in there!

@BambiOnIce80 Maca root? What’s it’s benefits? I’m just browsing Amazon for a few ideas myself lol. Starting with CB sticks.

BambiOnIce80 · 05/01/2019 11:55

Your temp chart this month is looking really good to my novice eye @pattyhoo πŸ™‚ I got a BFP OPK on CD15 this cycle, temp dipped on CD17 & leapt up on CD18, so thinks this mean I actually ov'd on CD17 (a good 36 hours after the BFP OPK). The OPK kits do say we usually ov 12-36 hours after the BFP OPK- I was just a bit surprised I look to be on the 36 hour end of the scale πŸ™„ I don't trust where my app says I ovulate as it always just puts it a day after the BFP OPK. I think from the temping it's the day of the dip before the temp rise that we ovulate (am I right seasoned tempers?!).

@Carley321 (back to the new name I see πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰), here's a bit of light reading for you on maca root:

www.healthline.com/nutrition/benefits-of-maca-root

If I remember correctly, I think @PixieN has done some baking with the powder? So, you don't have to take it in pill form if you're a baker πŸ₯§ Both myself and DP are going to be taking it (ordered last night and arrived this morning - I love living near an amazon warehouse! πŸ˜„). DP likes the idea of of taking Peruvian parsnip pills 😏

OP posts:
PixieN · 05/01/2019 12:15

@BambiOnIce @Carly321 I just used some in pancakes and haven’t bothered with it since. I should use it really as i’ve got a whole pack of the powdered stuff just sitting on a shelf in my kitchen (along with a load of other stuff I never use) There was another poster who used it to make fertility cakes. I can’t remember her username, but i’m sure she got a bfp.

Definitely don’t put it in tea - tastes vile πŸ˜–

Carley321 · 05/01/2019 12:26

@BambiOnIce80 Oo living near a warehouse is very handy I bet 😁. Thank you will have a little read.
Tea is vile πŸ˜‚ @PixiN. I’m not much of a baker myself but I am going to try and cook more in the new year beforw DP leaves me through lack of effort and disappearing in the bath every time dinner needs to be put on.

Well I did a cheapy and a CB opk yesterday and both negative, I have done a cheapy OPK just now and had a BFP. Couldn’t do the CB yet as didn’t go the 4 hours without a wee before hand (tmi). My app said OD is tomorrow, so maybe right?
