New Year, new thread! 🍾πŸ₯‚

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping 2019 brings some BFP luck to us all!! πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»

Oh and CB update. That really annoying flashing * smiley is still there πŸ™„.

BambiOnIce80 · 08/02/2019 07:43

I had a crap night's sleep too @Amanda81, but mine was related to DP's snoring! 😏 Sorry to hear your temp has dipped πŸ’ Hoping it's an implantation thing though 🀞🏻Is it awful of me to think that, on the brightside you can at least have a drink on your birthday?!🍾πŸ₯‚πŸ˜¬ I know that's what I'd be doing (I'm a terrible person!).

I woke up shivering as well at about 2am and thought "oh good, my temp is hopefully on its way downπŸ‘‡πŸŒ‘οΈπŸ€žπŸ»"... It's gone up by 0.2Β°C πŸ˜• Same as the last horrid/short cycle 😣 Started the IC OPK's last night (CD7) and it wasn't a BFP, but it had far too much colour to it for my liking for this early in the cycle- in other words, I probably shouldn't be too surprised by today's temp increase rather than drop πŸ˜“ DP clocked something was wrong this morning and I told him what was up, he said "is it FW then? At least I'm not working and we can get down to it!" πŸ˜‚Cheered me up quite a bit, even if there's no bloody chance of an embryo implanting in such a short cycle πŸ˜” AF hasn't even quite left yet FFS! I really hope a 19 day cycle isn't going to be my new normal 😩😒😩😒

Hey guys... have been quiet for a while. Has anyone had a Hycosy done? I'm looking for somewhere to get it done privately in London.
Anyone have any recommendations of gynaes/clinics? Or how I can go about finding one?

I had the blood tests done and were good except for FSH which was quite high. Anyway I am now in the 4th month of trying so not going to give up yet. This chart on fertility friend did cheer me up:
www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/Chart-Gallery-Stats-Months-TTC-versus-Age.html

Pinkywoo · 08/02/2019 08:45

@BambiOnIce80 my DP was also doing his injured walrus impression last night, it took all of my willpower not to whack him with a pillow!
I'm currently on dpo6 and starting to get impatient, one week til test day 🀞

79andnotout · 08/02/2019 10:32

Hi everyone, I've been a bit MIA this cycle too. Work is really busy and I've been in Glasgow this week. I've not been temping or doing OPKs (bit of a Meh! mood and just not been bothered) but decided to do one when I got home last night and it was quite strong. I didn't really feel in the mood by OH found the test on the toilet cistern where I usually leave it and said 'isn't this positive? Shouldn't we DTD?' I was amazed. He's never shown any interest in the tests, sex, or actually making babies before, it's all come from me. Anyway, job done, and I had a proper positive this morning so looks like we got one in this fertile week. He's not here tonight but might do another tomorrow morning for luck.

@terriwrist - what was your FSH? Mine was 12.0. Doctor told me not to worry but I don't quite believe him! Thanks for the chart. That is a sharp jump at 40!

@BambiOnIce80 - maybe you have a lingering viral infection? That can affect temp (and possibly cycles). However, even if you are having another short cycle, on the grand scheme of things that's just two blips on an otherwise perfectly regular cycle, so might just be a combination of stress, illness, time of year, etc. Good to have records of this though.

@Carley32 - maybe your egg is just hanging tight waiting for your partner to return!

@Amanda81 - fingers crossed it's an implantation dip! Your chart looks very nice.

Glad the funeral was okay @CNizzle.

@Pinkywoo - I find the worst days are from about 6DPO onwards. That's when every twinge is overanalysed to the max. I'm working from home today and going to try to monitor what a normal days worth of twinges feels like, so I can cross reference and stop myself being a psycho in a weeks time!

terriwrist · 08/02/2019 10:56

@79andnotout Mine was 16.5! So I've been through all the emotions. Denial, defeat, acceptance, and repeat.
I'm on Cycle #4... maybe some women go on to conceive and never find out even if they do have a high FSH... doctor has ordered me a second FSH to check again. In the meantime I'm planning to privately get done a HyCoSy.

79andnotout · 08/02/2019 11:04

@terriwrist - how old are you? Have you had an AMH test done? Or an antral follicle count? And what day was your FSH test done? It's definitely not something to panic about, FSH is an unreliable test and AFC and AMH are used as a more stable measurement of ovarian reserve these days. For what it's worth my AMH is 10, and was the same last year, which is fine for my age (39), so I'm pretty sure I have eggs left. Also 4 cycles in bugger all on the grand scheme of things so likely worrying about nothing at this stage (easily done though). If you are going private I would get that AMH test done for peace of mind. It's a good indicator of how many eggs you would get if you had to have IVF in the future, so a nice bit of knowledge to have in the bank.

terriwrist · 08/02/2019 11:46

@79andnotout I am 38. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I've just done the test for an AMH and willl find out in a week. Did you do the antral follicle count privately?

79andnotout · 08/02/2019 11:49

@terriwrist - not had an AFC unfortunately. I'm hoping to get one when I get referred to the fertility clinic. I did have an ultrasound and the sonographer said everything looked 'normal' but I didn't have the foresight to ask him about counting my follicles - as it was just to check I didn't have anything growing in there as I as getting mid cycle bleeding. Fingers crossed for a good AMH result!

BambiOnIce80 · 08/02/2019 13:01

I'm beginning to think @Carley32 that all this monitoring and tracking we do for peace of mind when TTC is nearly as stressful as not knowing what's going on! 😣 I hope @79andnotout is right though and your egg is hanging on in there until DP gets home πŸ˜‰

You absolutely deserve a BFP this month after your heroic efforts @Pinkywoo! How are you feeling now? Better, I hope?x

I was wondering if you'd been sent somewhere exotic with work @79andnotout with you being quiet... I was almost right! 😜 Glasgow is lovely of course, just not so exotic (please don't be offended @CNizzle! ❀️). Thanks for the level headed assessment of my (potential) double whammy short cycles 😊 You're right, of course. I don't think a switch flicks from normal and regular to short and regular in one go (at least, I hope it doesn't! 😬). If this cycle turns out to be short too, then I think I'm going to go back and get my prolactin checked again πŸ’‰βš—οΈ It's above the normal range anyway, so I'm wondering if the bereavement has walloped it up even higher and it's finally effecting my cycle? Don't think it should make them short though, but I guess it's worth checking. Next infertility doc appointment isn't until May, so I just need to hold tight, see what my cycles do and ride it out until I can take my new weirdness to her to assess. Going to try and not stress about it in the meantime... who am I kidding?! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

The AFC isn't standard where I am either until you get to actual IVF/IUI scenarios. I'm having an ultrasound in a couple of weeks to cross T's, dot I's and rule out fibroids and the doc said she'd ask the sonographer to have a quick check of my ovaries too because of my previous AFC picking up cysts - it wouldn't be checked at this stage otherwise πŸ˜’

CNizzle · 08/02/2019 13:23

Haha @bambionice80 I'm not actually from Glasgow, although I've lived here half my life, definitely no offence taken!! It's a very unexotic city!
@terriwrist I recently had a HyCoSy. I found it a bit painful, but manageable. According to my consultant, it can increase your bfp chances over the following months (unfortunately not mine though).
@79andnotout hope Glasgow was good to you, and you didn't work too hard. Sounds promising about OH getting a bit involved. 🀞
Even though I've not been tracking bbt or opks, & had a fairly unsuccessful FW, I'm still stupidly fixated on tww. My fitbit has recorded my RHR as higher than ever, don't know if this is significant it's not, or a side effect of not doing any gym classes in a month!

terriwrist · 08/02/2019 14:23

Thanks @CNizzle

79andnotout · 08/02/2019 14:47

@Cnizzle - yeah love Glasgow! Very similar to Manchester, I find. I have a collaboration at Glasgow Uni so I'm up from time to time. I love the architecture of the city. I like Edinburgh too @BambiOnIce80, but they have such different vibes. Don't think OH has been to either. Next time I'm up I might get him to join me for a few days and we do some touristy stuff. I'm a bit concerned his increase is interest in TTC is coming in too late, and he's going to want a child and I'll be too old! Bah, younger men, they do have their drawbacks. Although he doesn't snore, so that's a plus! :)

Fingers crossed the RHR is a good sign, @CNizzle, regardless of sub optimal timing this month.

BambiOnIce80 · 08/02/2019 15:25

@79andnotout, my exact words the first time I went across to Glasgow were "This is the Manchester of Scotland"! 😎 You're absolutely right - totally different vibe to the 'Burgh. I do love Barrowlands - had some awesome nights there 😊

... My DP is younger and snores πŸ˜•

OP posts:
Pinkywoo · 08/02/2019 15:51

I'm feeling much better now thankyou @BambiOnIce80, and I agree, if ever I could deserve a bfp it's this month!

Pinkywoo · 08/02/2019 15:52

And my DP is younger (4years) and snores too!

QuantumGirl · 08/02/2019 18:36

@BambiOnIce80 how come your DP doesn't snore? I thought it was in a man's DNA. I had a treatment when I was a child (my tongue used to push my front teeth forward when my mouth was closed) and as a result I don't snore but my DH makes up for the both of us πŸ™„πŸ˜ .

Nice to see you back @79andnotout and @CNizzle

On the train on my way home. Can't wait to put my PJS on and have a relaxing evening in πŸ₯˜πŸ›‹ πŸ“Ί 🍷 πŸ›Œ

79andnotout · 08/02/2019 18:55

Ah man, I thought snoring happened in the later years! Mine doesn't snored but his breathing is enough to irritate me so I sleep with earplugs anyway. He's really skinny though, a tall rake of a thing, maybe that's why he doesn't.

Glad to hear everything's cleared up @Pinkywoo.

I only know one other relationship where the man is younger. This thread is full of us! Apparently it means your fertile week is a bit longer as sperm from younger men survives longer. Doesn't seem to be counteracting my wizened eggs though!

pattyhoo · 08/02/2019 19:14

I've been locked out of my account for a few days, now I see there has been a data breech too - eek!

Just checking back in. Had another scan to monitor my endo cyst and general endo-related issues and now I am being referred to an endometriosis & conception specialist! Hurrah! Just got to wait for the referral details.

Not been well this week and feeling fed up waiting for AF to arrive so this gives me a bit of hope.

Hope everyone else is doing well x

Carley32 · 08/02/2019 20:20

I hope so @79andnotout it’s really bizarre it’s put me off using these CB, they are to bloody expensive to have a flashing smiley every frigging day of you cycle!

Well I did have ewcm today alongside my BFN IC OPK and my flashing fuffing smiley obviously just thrown in to confuse me even more @BambiOnIce80 all this testing and symptom spotting id definitely no good for my anxiety so prob going against the gods when ttc!

You are having a strange time of it πŸ€”. I’m sure it’s all down to bereavement, January being the worst month ever, and the stress of all that thinking. Like others have said you cycle is usually perfect so I’m sure it’s just a glitch. 🀞 that you’ll be back to normal in no time!

@QuantumGirl I’m with you there just got in my pj’s and about to pour myself a nice glass of 🍷 and spend the night watching reality tv with my fur babies..... Drinking alone on a Friday πŸ€” depressing or heaven I can’t work out which!

Carley32 · 08/02/2019 20:25

@Pinkywoo you most certainly do deserve a BFP I have all fingers and toes crossed for you this month πŸ’.

On the DP front mines 3 years older! And usually doesn’t snore unless he’s secretly smoked..... obviously he’s busted as soon as he sleeps πŸ™„πŸ˜‚.

BambiOnIce80 · 08/02/2019 21:04

Hope you're feeling better soon @pattyhoo πŸ’

I am very much rocking the bath, onesie, sofa, dinner and film routine tonight too @QuantumGirl 😎 I'm only forgoing the wine @Carley32 because we've got a long lunch tomorrow with matching booze, so thought I'd best be good tonight πŸ΅πŸ˜‡ I would most definitely be joining you otherwise! 🍾πŸ₯‚πŸ˜‚

79andnotout · 08/02/2019 21:25

@BambiOnIce80 you live the high life! I need to book me more long lunches with matching booze.

Similar night here. Watching Catastrophe under a blanket with the hound. OH is out at some nerdy gaming party enjoying himself immensely, no doubt.

BambiOnIce80 · 08/02/2019 21:42

Ooooh, I love Catastrophe @79andnotout! Soooooo funny πŸ˜‚ Slightly jaded by the getting knocked-up from a 6 night stand premise, but other than that I love the dry and sarcastic humour πŸ˜„

Happy Friday ladies Smile I came home from work to a letter from the fertility clinic with an appointment for me & DH in a few weeks time so that’s good news!
Just had a takeaway, a couple of glasses of vino and finished watching Season 4 of β€˜Poldark’ - discovered it a month ago and have become a bit obsessive. Aiden Turner 😍
