New Year, new thread! 🍾πŸ₯‚

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping 2019 brings some BFP luck to us all!! πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»

If you're over 36 you'll be able to go through the GP as you've been trying nearly 6 months @pattyhoo. I'm 35 so we had to have been trying for a year before the GP would start any tests. We're at the same GP so we booked back to back appts and just went in together. Dh had his done privately as the NHS wait was 4 months on top of our year trying. We searched who does them locally and the clinic we found gives you the results the same day.

@BambiOnIce80 thank you, pleased he's had it done and not flagged any major issues. We joked that some of his sperm are clearly a bit lazy but there's that many of them it shouldnt matter. If only one could find a way to meet up with my egg! Hope you and dh manage to find some time in your fw 🀞

QuantumGirl · 21/01/2019 08:58

Congratulations @wheresthehope so nice to hear that there is...hope ❀️

79andnotout · 21/01/2019 10:04

Congratulations @wheresthehope! What kind of cramping have you been having?

I've had a stitch like pain similar to ovulation pains for a couple of days, but I'm only 5DPO so too early to mean anything. Also I have started circuit classes again so it's probably just bad technique from abs exercises! Control that symptom spotting psycho, woman.

Amanda81 · 21/01/2019 11:52

Congratulations @wheresthehope - wishing you a healthy sticky bean πŸ€—πŸ€—

ladybranstonpickle · 21/01/2019 14:29

Hi everyone! Loving the BFPs we've been getting. Wishing everyone the same kind of success.

I am just back from a wedding which was wonderful. It was good to be distracted from the TTC stuff and have a glass (or 3!) of fizz. Now though I am being ridiculous and symptom spotting Hmm.

79andnotout I hear you! Friday and Saturday I had terrible pain radiating all down my leg from my hip. Of course Google tells me that ould be implantation/ovulation/anything!

My breasts are also quite tender today and I've had terrible heartburn twice in the past week, which I never ever had before.

I don't even know when to test, given that I only took my Nuavring out on 1 Jan, withdrawal bleed 3-6 Jan, and then nothing. No ewcm, no ovulation pain, just felt completely normal, until this weekend. Any advice everyone?

Weathergirl1 · 21/01/2019 14:33

Congratulations @zoomies1 and @whereisthehope !

I've been trying not to think about it all too much as it's our first month, but I think I do feel a bit different than usual with a bit of tenderness in the boob department and there was a slight temp drop. Not sure how much to read into that though as I looked back at previous cycles and the temp drop has happened before when I definitely wasn't! I can't help think it's my mind messing around with me - and wondering what the heck I've gone and potentially done - argh. Think I'm on 8DPO so I guess I just have to wait and see Confused

ladybranstonpickle · 21/01/2019 14:42

Weather girl we can symptom spot together!

Beeseeinya · 21/01/2019 16:17

Hello ladies! Back after a couple of months off to enjoy Xmas ;)
Had a good opk run this month, seems to all be on schedule after months of randomness! Managed to dtd the day before likely ov.
Currently 7dpo and feeling quite unbothered unlike last time i went a bit psycho with symptom spotting.
I have cramping, but this might be trapped air from an upset stomach.
So nice to see all the bfps since I was away!! Congrats!

BambiOnIce80 · 21/01/2019 17:58

Welcome back @Beeseeinya! πŸ˜€ I was wondering how you were getting on! Glad to hear your cycles have settled down πŸ‘ Sounds like you @79andnotout, @ladybranstonpickle and @Weathergirl1 are cycle buddies this month 😎 You can all unleash your inner symptom spotting psychos together! πŸ€ͺπŸ˜‰

@ladybranstonpickle, if we assume that you might be going back onto the average cycle length (28 days, for arguments sake), then I reckon you should be OK to test on a sensitive HPT (anything from 15IU or better) from about the 30th πŸ€

How're you doing today @QuantumGirl?x

wheresthehope · 21/01/2019 18:21

@79andnotout I wouldn't say it was like normal pms cramps but tender annoying feeling. had headaches on n off since ovulation aswel.
And yesterday arfter noon while I was at work I had brown discharge when I wiped but not a lot... geez I hope its not a bad sign Sad

Kescilly · 21/01/2019 18:42

Congrats @wheresthehope! What fantastic news!

How is everyone’s week starting off?

79andnotout · 21/01/2019 19:21

@wheresthehope hmm I think this is actually me just doing sit ups badly. Doesn't feel menstrual at all. Tits.

PixieN · 21/01/2019 19:41

Congratulations @wheresthehope Smile that’s lovely news to read, especially on a Monday!

I’ve been laughing at all the symptom spotting as I was exactly the same (again) this month. My right eye started randomly twitching (which of course is a sign) so I made the mistake of mentioning this to DH while we were driving, along with all the other symptoms: cramps, bloating, knee pain etc. He remarked, β€˜Look, a squirrel jumping on the lower branch of that tree. It’s a sign!’ πŸ™„πŸ˜

I should keep the symptom spotting to this thread!

79andnotout · 21/01/2019 19:52

@PixieN - lol. I've been getting the same reaction from my (male) colleague. We spent all afternoon debating where exactly the ovaries are too (both scientists but still clueless). It was a slow day in the office!

QuantumGirl · 21/01/2019 21:43

@BambiOnIce80 I'm better now, thank you for asking about me ☺️. I can tell my FW has been and gone for sure. For the first time ever I didn't get ewcm or a positive opk. Last night I was ready to tell ttc to 🀬. This morning decided not to go to the office so worked from home. Firstly I had a little cry by myself (needed to make the most of the time on my own) but as soon as I started the door bell rung and it was the guy from the electricity company asking to read the meter ( perfect timing) by the time he left I no longer fancied a cry. He had ruined my moment πŸ™„I then booked an appointment to see my GP on the 28th and found out via dr Google that antihistamines are bad for ttc and it dries up ewcm. Bingo! I was on antihistamines last month for most of December. I'm still not convinced I have eczema like the doctor said. I think I have sweat rash. Does anyone here have it too? This month I got it again on my lower back, under the bra area and on my inner thigh. I didn't take any medicine or used any steroid cream this time, just a boring odourless moisturiser. Hopefully next cycle will be healthier. I also looked into unOvulatory cycle like you mentioned @BambiOnIce80 but it does not seem to happen in regular cycles. What do you know about it? I'd like to know more πŸ€“

Amanda81 · 21/01/2019 21:50

CD9 here and holy moly...tmi warning...just checking my CM and what can only be described as a blob of gooey discharge came out 😳. Don't think I've had this before! Have I been implanted by aliens πŸ‘½. Any ideas ladies? I checked first thing this morning and it was creamy CM. 🧐

79andnotout · 21/01/2019 22:12

@Amanda81 I had that every now and then when I came off the pill. Never since.

@QuantumGirl - I used to get sweat rash when I lived in France in the hot summers. I used a roll on product called BodyGlide. Worked a treat - I'd cake myself in it before going for a run. All around my bra strap areas and thighs.

So annoying when someone interrupts your scheduled cry time!

BambiOnIce80 · 21/01/2019 22:15

I hope you had a lovely time with your mum visiting @Kescilly?

I absolutely keep my inner symptom spotting psycho to this thread @PixieN πŸ˜„ DP is being very good natured about the thermometer beeping at god awful times in the morning and my announcements that it's FW and we need to get on it (no excuses! πŸ€ͺ), so I spare him the rest πŸ˜‚

That is very inopportune timing by the electricity guy @QuantumGirl! 😣 I totally get what you mean about the perfect time to have a good cry. When things have been epically stressful at work I've held it all in until I'm safely in the bath and then let rip πŸ›€ 😭 I've also done that and then the tears just don't come... Highly anti-climatical! 😏 I've also recently read about the negative effect of anti-histamines on TTC and it may well explain my lack of EWCM. I take them whenever the part-time cat visits... there has been a lot of sneezing this past month 🀧 😼

My cycles are super regular (28-30 days) but pre-coil I'd maybe get one cycle every other year where it'd be 35-37 days. The first time it happened (I totally freaked out, obvs 😬) and the GP said that was likely just to be down to not ovulating as a one-off. Perfectly normal at that frequency, apparently. I've not had one since coming off the coil, so I guess I've got that to look forward to at some point this year πŸ™„

How's @Carley321 doing? Has AF stayed away lovely?x

OP posts:
Amanda81 · 21/01/2019 22:16

@79andnotout perhaps it's my cycle settling after the mc. My temps are more stable this cycle.

QuantumGirl · 21/01/2019 23:03

Thank you @79andnotout I'll give BodyGlude a go. I've always suffered from heat rash in the summer too. Winter is news to me.

@BambiOnIce80 let's stay off antihistamines and see what happens. From what you said I believe I will only know if it was an unnovulatory cycle depending on the day AF shows, right? Funnily enough I'm looking forward to it as I want this cycle gone so I can start the next one on a more positive note.

Good luck with your FW ladies πŸ€

Carley321 · 22/01/2019 06:58

Congratulations @wheresthehope that is lovely news.

Sorry you’ve been feeling so crappy @QuantumGirl. Glad you are feeling a little better. Iv been having a similar few days to be honest.

Hi @BambiOnIce80 thanks for asking.
I have been feeling really down and shitty the last few days... AF did indeed show up (although the amount it shows up in is becoming totally pointless to me) so light yet again. And so I decided to ask Dr Google shy and obviously the answers were all some form infertility or worse so that was shit! I’m also feeling really disappointed and anxious over it all now.
Sorry to moan πŸ™ˆ.
I hope you are doing ok?

Fur baby seems to have made progress. But after looking into it and doing lots of reasearch we think he may have a tumour and his improvement could be normal on meds but for no longer than a few months or even weeks. So also been having a sneaky cry here and there but I am beginning to accept it and just enjoy him for now.

Hope all are ok it’s great to see so many bfp for the new year.

ladybranstonpickle · 22/01/2019 07:06

@BambiOnIce80 I shall step away from the pregnancy tests and restrain myself from googling! At least until the 30th πŸ˜†

79andnotout · 22/01/2019 07:31

@Carley321 - I have light periods (always have done) and got pregnant before so it doesn't necessarily mean bad news. One of the reasons I switched to moon cups was to monitor it. I have about 25ml total over two and a half days which is a fraction of my friends flow, but no health professionals have raised any concerns and my ultrasounds have shown nice healthy lining.

January combined with TTC is just a bit depressing. Roll on spring. It was snowing here this morning when I headed to my exercise class but really crap wet snow that didn't settle.

I'm still symptom spotting and think I have thrush. Is that a sign?! (Clutching at straws).

QuantumGirl · 22/01/2019 08:25

@Carley321 I agree with @79andnotout this time of the year is notoriously depressing and combined with ttc it's no wonder we feel the way we feel. It's great that you are enjoying every moment with your fur baby. Make the most of him as it's the good memories that will stay not the time you spent worrying about it.

Have you looked into natural ways to prolong your period? I think acupuncture might help or raspberry leaf tea. Have you had tests done to rule out anemia?

Pinkywoo · 22/01/2019 08:39

Oh no I didn't know that about antihistamines, I take prescription ones every day! Looks like it'll be an itchy, wheezey ttc time Blush
