Our new year's resolution is to get a BFP!

I fell off the December bus today after a 34 day cycle. AF turned up this afternoon. I will be ovulating on Christmas Day by the looks of things! Hoping this means I can enjoy mulled wine etc this Christmas.

So here we go again.

I've been on both the November and December bus..but my OH happened to be away both weeks in Nov & Dec that I happened to ovulate so I'm still stuck on cycle 1. December AF is just finishing this week and I'm slightly glad I can drink over Xmas and New year.

I still have an unopened bottle of pre-seed lube, which we will be using. OH is off for another 2 weeks so can finally start trying 1st week of Jan.

@bunhead34 I hope you are right about the in-laws I really want them to be involved whenever we do have children. Mine really are very polite, they are incredibly English and reserved which is probably best when it comes to TTC chat which is essentially sex chat! Hopefully you don't feel pressured by their rudeness, it is funny how people are bold enough to ask if you are trying, when you will try etc, I have even had it from colleagues!
I used opks, preseed and DTD everyday of fertile window in the first month, will try every other day/SMEP this month. I think I read though that even with perfect DTDing there is only a 20-25% chance of conception so it really is unlikely first cycle and if somewhat out of our hands.
This month I hope not to symptom spot too much I was even googling my period in case it was some obscure TWW symptom. I am also not testing until my AF is late so after 20th January.
Going to enjoy drinking for Xmas and NY, still have a slight chance of a September baby and more of a buffer to make sure I don't give birth during the summer holidays in the case of premature birth (family history) or FX fraternal boy/girl twins (dream scenario)

@Soexciting I can't get over the fact that it's 20-25% per cycle with perfect sex... I feel like I'm unlikely to ever conceive at that rate because DH goes away frequently! He was away for 2d of my FW this week

Soexciting I’m going to try and avoid symptom spotting this cycle too. I was convinced I was pg this time, with all the typical symptoms and the disappointment was worse as a result

@lavenderbluedilly and @muddypaws12 I really have been surprised at how much TTC has messed with my mind even in one cycle. It is all consuming and lonely and a situation where you own body is your worst enemy. Yesterday I had to stop Christmas shopping because the nausea was so bad, I could smell everything, my boobs were sensitive and constantly erect. Then two hours later I felt my period, I told my DH it's my period, got my towels etc before I went into the bathroom but still I think I held out hope because the sight of that blood hurt so much.
I thought waiting for a BFP would be like it was waiting for DH to propose, frustrating and upsetting because it's something I want but can't control (I am a bad feminist and wouldn't propose to him) but it's ridiculously worse it's like waiting for him to propose if each month he took you ring shopping, flew you to Paris and then told you that he DIDNT want to marry you.
I have nothing but respect for people who have been TTC for months or years it's not just a case of wanting a baby.
Sorry for the outpouring, I don't really talk to people in real life about this stuff 1 month trying and already my head is wrecked

www.avawomen.com/fertility-calculator/ I did this calculator because of my age and medical history I think it was 14%. But any chance is still a chance, it predicted I would conceive within 7 months. But it's all prediction.

Soexciting 19% for me, apparently, within 6 months. I am on cycle 5 so timelines are tight!

Mine is 41% which seems a bit high and 3 months... we'll have to see! There must be so many variables in this!

I got 14% and 7 months, I’m 39 so might be one of the reasons!

Soexciting I know what you mean, I can’t describe how upsetting this is for me too. I thought I’d be celebrating a BFP today and instead have an absolute stinker of a period . I ended up avoiding my in-laws yesterday as SIL has a new baby, I couldn’t cope with seeing DH fawning over her, which is horrible of me I know

Thanks thosethreewords it’s nice to have you all here to open up to. I don’t want DH to know how awful I feel, he’ll tell MIL and all his super-fertile sisters. While they are lovely and would be sympathetic, it would make me feel worse!

TMI alert:
Not sure what's going on with my cycle. I had positive OPKs on Saturday and Sunday and with watery CM. I've gone from watery CM to dry in one day today. Has anyone else experienced this? I know it's still fertile CM but just a bit strange because I know I've had EWCM before.

Got a positive OPK today, do looks like I'm bang on target to ovulate on Christmas Day

DP is exhausted so I'll have to try and catch him tomorrow. Sigh.
