Our new year's resolution is to get a BFP!

I fell off the December bus today after a 34 day cycle. AF turned up this afternoon. I will be ovulating on Christmas Day by the looks of things! Hoping this means I can enjoy mulled wine etc this Christmas.

So here we go again.

@PyjamasForever I've just had my mirena out and had a slightly earlier than predicted period so not sure if it was a proper period or not! Did you track ovulation or just go with the flow?

PyjamasForever · 16/12/2018 07:25

@ThoseThreeWords last time we just went with the flow. In fact we weren't expecting to get pregnant anywhere near as quickly so didn't really have time to think about anything. That was before the days of toddler-induced exhaustion and a small person crawling into our bed... so we might need more planning this time!!

HJWT · 16/12/2018 08:11

@PyjamasForever I remember when I had my implant removed the first time, the nurse told me it could take over a year to conceive as it will take at least 6 months for the hormones to leave my body after 5 years with it in.... I was pregnant after my first cycle my DH nearly had a heart attack when I showed him the pregnancy test 😂

AF due 7 Jan, should ovulate just after Christmas. Look forward to getting to know you all, ladies Smile

thosethreewords · 16/12/2018 19:27

Welcome @Fortheloveofscience!
We will be expecting AF/ testing around the same time! I'm testing on 6th x

PaintingOwls · 18/12/2018 10:31

Gosh I've been so ill the last week and a bit. According to FF my fertile window is starting this week with a prediction that I'll ovulate on Christmas Day!

I'm so exhausted from being sick I don't know if I can do it. Would I be insane to TTC when I'm ill? Does it make any difference?

HJWT · 18/12/2018 18:32

@PaintingOwls I don't think so! I know this is grim but when I got pregnant with DD I had an ingrown toe nail and it got infected I was 6 weeks and was hospitalised I even passed out in the ambulance but she was fine xx

PaintingOwls · 18/12/2018 18:35

Bloody hell HJWT Shock

That's kind of reassuring though!

Now to wrap my head around DTD when I feel like I'm knocking on death's door...

HJWT · 18/12/2018 18:40

@PaintingOwls yeah my body does not do well with infections at all my temp just goes through the roof!! Lol DTD is a chore anyway when TTC 😂 good luck x

Username28 · 18/12/2018 20:38

Hi! I'd like to jump on please after a loooooong 55 day cycle!
(Small yay for boozy Christmas!)

Age- 27 (actually thought I was 28 when I made the name haha Grin)
TTC #1
Cycle 2 (ish- don't know if the first one after the pill counts lol)
Cycle day 1

Going to try a more SMEP approach this month, is anyone else? Here's hoping I'm back to 28 days this month otherwise we are going to be exhausted haha!

thosethreewords · 18/12/2018 22:57

@Username28 hi!! I've seen SMEP and like the idea! I thought I wanted to try it but then have been thinking what if I miss "THE day". This is unlikely since I'm using OPK and temping anyway (that's more to learn about my cycle though, than to time BD strictly)
Has anyone else got fertility friend and read the 10 lessons they send via email? It's so interesting 🤓

SadieSue29 · 18/12/2018 23:12

Hi

I'm on cycle 1

Ended my pill early November,
Day 1 of period was 12th December so 35 days after last pill.
Not sure of cycle length as it's the first cycle although as I don't know my length it will be harder to know when I'm ovulating.
31
Second baby for me, first for my partner

Username28 · 18/12/2018 23:24

Yes @thosethreewords I will be using the rest of my clear blue ovulation kit that I got this month, It's a bit easier to read, but blimmin expensive! Might go on to Amazon ones, any anyone would recommend?

@SadieSue29
I'm in a similar boat, I came off the pill in September and had what I though was a normal cycle after but this one has been 55 days lol and got a positive opk on cycle 41! Who knows what's going to happen this cycle, I wish I has known about this, I would of got off the pill sooner! Xx

SadieSue29 · 18/12/2018 23:30

Oh I was really hoping that the 35 day cycle was the start of everything getting back to normal. I was on the implant for 6 years and then switched to the pill earlier this year. Wish I had just used condoms after coming off the implant and given myself a good few months to get back to normal without having to think about conception. My partner works away a lot so our days are massively limited that we can convince on.

I may have to get ovulation sticks but trying to not become obsessive so early on.

thosethreewords · 19/12/2018 13:34

@Username28 I've got one step OPKs (cheap - amazon) and they have been easy to use so far. Initially I was thinking I might invest in the CB ones but I'll stick to these for a while and only change if I really think it would be beneficial.

thosethreewords · 19/12/2018 13:35

@SadieSue29 I didn't want to get too obsessive either with BD timing, but I'm enjoying charting just for knowing what my body is doing. It's really cool to read about the stages and then see them happening!

thosethreewords · 20/12/2018 18:06

CD10 today and negative OPK (predicted O tomorrow on FF) so think FW will be next week now! X

Username28 · 20/12/2018 21:32

I'm at cycle day 3 and it's draaaaaaaaging!! Lol and I thought the 2 week wait was bad lol!

Peaky1 · 20/12/2018 21:54

Hi all! Jumping on this thread if that's okay.

Clue and Flo apps said I would ovulate either yesterday or today. OPKs say no! AF due 3rd or 4th Jan. DTD every other day but getting ruddy impatient to ambush this egg!!

thosethreewords · 20/12/2018 22:46

@Username28 - yep draaaagging so much! Usually I don't like January as much after Xmas and now I'm really impatient!!

@Peaky1 ambushing this egg is going to be my new saying to myself now 😂

ohio91 · 21/12/2018 02:43

Hey! Jumping on the Jan bus!

Age: 27
Baby #1
Cycle 2

So we kind of started trying last month but I'm amazed at how little I actually knew about conceiving! Just assumed you dtd and hoped for the best. Obviously I didn't listen much in biology class and hadn't fully thought about the fact there is only a small window of fertility!! Doh! Almost had myself convinced last month that we might have been successful! Felt awful last week, so nauseous etc but I guess I was genuinely just unwell because AF arrived 2 days ago lol. When I looked back at my AF date we missed ovulation by a few days so our chances were slim. Have worked out expected ovulation date for this month and excited to give it a good go! Should be ovulating around New year's! But we're going to be dtd from our wedding anniversary (28th dec) onwards to try cover all bases! Sounds like I'll be on the TWW with most of the rest of you Jan bus riders!

P.s born and raised in ireland but now living in the USA so the whole "pregnancy" experience might be slightly different in terms of doctor visits etc! Literally clueless at the moment!

Best of luck to everyone, sorry about the essay! Xmas Wink

Joining the Jan bus, hello all.

Just had my copper coil out this morning and 1-2 days until ovulation (at least I think so - first attempt at tracking cycle this month, using clear blue digital). TTC#1. Age 32.

We’ve been planning to try around now for about a year. I’m sure it won’t be as easy as BFP in early January, but it’s so hard not to be hopeful!

JingleAllTheQuack · 21/12/2018 13:07

Hi all - just getting started TTC. We're waiting til after Christmas so I can drink and be merry in the mean time, but my cycle has just started, so hopping on the bus!
