I'm doing it once for myself and some of my TTC buddies, but if you fancy a little of the glasto luck your way... pop your name here!

I know we're all obsessed about babies on here at the moment - but I feel so sorry for her - she's just at the stage where she's settled and married and ready to have kids and he's gone! It's so unfair that women have a biological clock like we do!! He can always change his mind in 10 years time and marry a younger woman have kids!! I know that this is probably the least of her worries at the moment but I really feel for her!

No sex since November is a big sign - but noone would think that their partner of 10 years would leave them like that!

Did he leave purely because he didn't want kids? Other than that were they happy?

BabyBratt · 12/07/2007 14:49

I think there has to be more to it. They could really do with going to see someone.

Her parents have had 4 children and there is only her without some form of mental illness. Having had drunken discussion with her husband I think he is worried about her getting pg and then ending up with a mentally ill child. But there is no medical evidence to support his theory. We as friends don't want to interfere but they really need to talk because all of this can be avoided. Unless this is just an excuse.

He is never home he spends 6 nights a week out playing bowls with his mates. It does not all add up.

I know how much she wants a family, and having been ttc for ages I know how long it can take and that is why I feel so badly for her. It is tough being a woman and having that clock!!

toomuchtimeonline · 12/07/2007 15:22

They could get gene therapy if there was an issue with mental illness!

At 34 she's hardly old- but the time it takes to find and settle down with a new man - poor girl!

We're all struggling to survive the 2ww never mind longer!

I really feel for her!

evergrounded · 12/07/2007 16:05

Babybratt- thanks so much- your comments have really helped. I think I started worrying around cycle 6 too....silly, as they all say that worrying and stressing are the worst thing you can do! It's such a relief that this site exists- so you can actually voice worries that you would never be able to discuss in RL, like you say.
Oh well, I'm back to CD 3, back to the drawing board!

Treenie · 12/07/2007 16:14

BB that's so shit for your mate. Men can be such f**kers can't they! Poor woman.

Toomuch - just seen you asking something about knowing when your af is due on the sitting on hands thread so thought I'd shed some light for you. The bit after ov is your luetal phase (LP) and it is usually around 14 days - from 12 to 16 is fine. Not matter how long the first half of cycle up to ov is, the lp should stay the same roughly. So when did you get the surge on the ov test kits? That usually happens day before ov so count 14 days from then and that should give you a rough answer. Of course you could have short of long lp but since this is your first month off the pill I reckon this is the only way to give yourself a good idea of when to test - or should I say when not to test before!
That's why it's always the 2WW even if you have a 45 day cycle cause the lp is usually two weeks.
Does that help/make sense?
x

toomuchtimeonline · 12/07/2007 17:42

Wow thanks Treenie - Surge was 2nd and 3rd of July - but I thought you ovulated after the surge is it 14 days from the surge or 14 days from ovulation? So that means I can test next Monday or Tuesday then? Wow - though I had to wait until next Saturday!!! Now I'm getting excited!!

Treenie · 12/07/2007 18:24

I think it's 14 days from ov. So go on that basis. But that's still very early so if you can wait a few more days try to. Glad to be of help!
x

BabyBratt · 12/07/2007 18:28

Toomuch I had my surge on the 29th & 30th and my temp went up on the 1st so we are running a similar times, I am due to get AF tomorrow or Sat.

Treenie it has made me think that at least I am in the lucky position of being able to ttc.

Blond · 12/07/2007 18:39

Thats fab news Fi, I remember getting my positive test on my ov sticks, it was so exciting.

Treenie · 12/07/2007 20:10

Good news Fi - let's hope there is more in roughly 2 weeks time! Now get bding immediately!

BB - yes you can and you will!

Blond - welcome! Not sure we are your best bet though cause for the most part we are ttc no 1. You are so welcome to stay here of course but I think you should ask your question on maybe the ttc July thread cause they might be more use.
Good luck though!

Hello to everyone else!

poppy75 · 12/07/2007 22:02

Hello everyone again

I've been lurking but not posting, am following all your progress and am so excited. I am day 16 and this is the first month I've taken my temp. DH works away during week so not so easy to make sure timing is right.

Fi I know what you mean after 11 years on the pill it felt so good to feel my body was back to 'normal' and ovulating

Treenie & Babybratt - Keep us posted girls when you do test positive

I was wondering with taking temps, when I ovulate how long does it take for your temp to go up, mine is still low but had EWCD (think that is the abreviation .

It is so good to have all you guys in the same position, would go mad otherwise

BabyBratt · 12/07/2007 22:21

Hi Poppy

You temp goes up when you ovulate. Your temp should then stay up until the end of your LP phase at which time if it goes down your AF arrives and if it stays up you are pregnant. That is how I know I am coming on because my temp drops and my AF comes a few hours afterwards. Hope that makes sense

You need to make sure your BDing before your temp goes up because once it is up it can be a bit late.

Your temp may only go up 0.2oC after ovulation. I normally pee on a stick (OPK) that shows my serge I normally get that for 2/3 days and then my temp goes up so I know I've ovulated.

fifilou · 13/07/2007 10:36

hi girls!

ive a stroy to tell- slightly mushy, but hey, we like mushy now and then?

Last night Dh and i Bd'd and it was the nicest ever- not rushed-we-must-now-because-we-have-to-bd (sorry if tmi)

Anyway, after, we were cuddled up and looking out of the sky light and saw a shooting star!

Well?

mushy?

good luck?

I wished for all the women in the world who want a baby to be blessed.......do you think it was too much of a wish?

OP posts:
Treenie · 13/07/2007 11:09

Oh Fi you are such an old romantic! Good for you my dear! Let's hoped it worked - the bding and the wishing! x

Poppy - I don't temp so BB is your gal for that. I'm into natural signs. When I ov nipples get very tingly and I get crampy pains and twinges. Had any of them? Anyway, nice to see you back on here and keep us posted - anything you need advice with we will try our best. Not experts but all equally obbsessed so there is fair bit of knowledge kicking about on here!

BB - are you also going round the twist?! CD39 and no sign of af! Few twinges in tummy and boobs and mildly achy back but nothing else.
One thing I have noticed though are the veins - can really see them on my chest, legs and arms. Really hope it's a good sign?!
Want to hang off on testing for as long as poss cause I would rather see AF than a false negative. Only had the spotting yesterday morning so don't think there would be enough of the hormone in my system now anyway.

Sorry for rattling on - can you tell I'm a wee bit worked up?! My mum is staying and she thinks these are all good signs - hope she's right! She's as excited as me!

BB have you tested yet or managed to wait?
What updates from you - any more signs?

Hello to everyone else!
x

toomuchtimeonline · 13/07/2007 11:10

Treenie - thanks for that - I know I am going to be bad and test tomorrow just becuase I have this party thing - but then I think I'm going to leave it until next Saturday because then my AF may arrive before that and save me another BFN!!

I'm feeling quite crampy today so think my AF may be on its way.. it's so hard as I don't know what my body should feel like having been on the pill for so long

Fi - good news on the ovulation!! I was so excited only holiday when I got my surge!! What CD are you? Good luck with the bding! And love your mushy story - it's so sweet!! Just think if you conceive this month you can look back at that lovely evening as the moment of conception! Lovely

BB - got everything crossed for you that your AF doesn't arrive this weekend!

Poppy - [big wave] - glad to see another long term pill user on here to compare notes with! Don't know anything about temping as haven't tried it yet so can't help on that - but thought I'd say hello

Everyone else! Hello [big hugs] how are you all doing?

PM - any news?

toomuchtimeonline · 13/07/2007 11:13

Sorry Treenie - cross posted! Hope your signs are good news! I'm feeling every twinge at the moment! Do you know anything about the hormone levels from implanation i.e. how soon after you're likely to test positive? God this is all so exciting..

As I said I feel a bit crampy today.. is that good or bad? When I was on the pill I had zero symptoms - I flew through the month bled for 1 week and maybe had 1 day where I felt a bit irritable but no body symptoms.. so don't know if this is just my body gearing up for AF..

PinkMartini · 13/07/2007 12:44

Weird, thought I'd posted earlier, wonder what happened?
Anyway, was just saying am CD26 and still no AF but feel certain she'll be here any moment now.
Still wishing and hoping but trying not to if that makes sense as don't want to be disappointed.

BB Sorry to hear about your mate - that's rough.

Fi - I love your story! [romantic emoticon]

Toomuch - just stick to the spritzers tomorrow
and resist the test - BFNs are too depressing, no?

Everyone else - hello, how are you?

Also, can someone please tell ignorant me what the LP phase is?

toomuchtimeonline · 13/07/2007 14:11

Hi PM [big wave] - you're my CD buddy!! I know I should wait but I just know that I won't be able to - so rather than test every day for the next 5 I've given myself one test on Saturday and then I have to wait for my AF - twisted logic I know.. I will try on Saturday to not think about it and not do one.. I promise.. TBH I feel more and more crampy as the day goes on so pretty convinced AF is on its way!

toomuchtimeonline · 13/07/2007 14:13

p.s. I think LP is luteal phase - i.e. the time from ovulation until AF which Treenie kindly informed us all yesterday is usually about 12 - 14 (I think..) days long and does not usually change in length.. i.e. the length of your cycle changes due to the time to ovulation not the LP length

Treenie · 13/07/2007 14:40

Ok I have a question? If you see a faint line about 10 - 15 mins after weeing on the test can that be classed as a positive?!

Bought a pack of Sainsburys tests last week. Did one mega early and it was completely negative - not a single hit of a line in the box - nothing. Chucked it back in the packet for some reason and back in the drawer - I know that sounds minging and I should have put it in the bin but I didn't.
Anyway, did the second test from the packet today and is showed a mega faint but entirely visable blue line. Got the old one out and it still looked blank.
So I'm thinking surely if there was going to be an evaperation line show up on these tests it would have appeared on the week old one ages ago? I.e. the one I did today was a positive just took a while to show up?

Longwinded I know but it needed some explaining! What does anyone think?
Thanks!
x

spugs · 13/07/2007 14:42

oo may well be. When i got a bfp with dd1 i thought it hadnt worked and had chucked it in bag and gone to work. Was at least 30 min later when i looked and bfp as for faint line i got one today after about 2/3 min so now classing myself as pg (even if just for time being )

Treenie · 13/07/2007 14:45

Thanks Spugs and congrats to you my dear!
Going to test again tomrrow but you know what this waiting game is like!
All the best of luch with your pregnancy!
