Good Evening Ladies

I am not sure how I coped before I started posting on here.

Anyway I decided after the mention of Ikea that I would take a wander around Ikea, they have just opened a new one near me. I wandered around the Children's bedroom bit. I looked at all these pregnant ladies but it suprised me I did not get down. In a weird way it gave me hope. I even decorated the baby room, in my head of course. I know I am sad but whatever gets me through.

The great thing about these threads is there is always someone just to pull you up. I cannot thank you all enough

I found this link on another thread. It is a list of things to do whilst on our two week wait

www.bellybelly.com.au/articles/conception/two-week-wait-activity-list

Im around CD 20 and dying to know one way or the other. I keep promising myself I will not test until I am a day late!!!! should we take bets on whether I make it!!

Morning all
Gilly - congrats on the distinction! (When I was about 10 I got a grade 1 music theory with distiction, except I kept telling everyone it was with extinction as I'd recently learnt about endangered animals and kept getting confused!)
Ready - good to see you back
BB - the jealousy thing is quite irrational, it comes and goes as it likes. I missed my lunch hour at work the other week because a colleague's pg daughter came into have lunch with her and I couldn't bear to be around her (I actually felt really angry and almost violent towards her, which scared me ), but then a week or two later I found I didn't feel like that anymore (which was a relief!)

News from me - got my referral apponitment through - for Monday morning! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Ready · 06/07/2007 19:20

Ladies - Hope everyone is feeling good? Plenty of optimism? I have none, so I am looking to borrow some.

Gilly - Exciting times for you huh, congrats on the distinction. I understand it is tinged with sadness, and I am so sorry for that. Good luck with your new job, and life in the capital - I hope you'll love it! I have been to the GP and had a few tests, all good so far, and I have my referral appointment in a few weeks, so the ball is rolling. Time will tell.

Nomore - You are in my "drafts"

Treenie - I hope that you don't have to wait 11 months, chick! I think maybe things happen in life for a reason, and there is a lot going on in my life at the moment, that wouldn't really be conducive to late pregnancy or early motherhood - so perhaps it was a good thing that I have yet to conceive. If that makes sense? Very sweet of you to say nice things about me

fifilou any news chick??

Everyone else...

kensgirl · 07/07/2007 10:34

Hi ladies

Just popping in to say hello!

Congratulations, Gilly!I know it must be very bittersweet for you, but a masters is an incredible achievement - well done you! heres hoping it is the start if many succsses, with another bfp being a huge part of that.

Hi, Ready. Sorry you are in need of optimism. i'm not sure I can offer you much, but I can offer a hug. It will happen one day, just the ftc is torture I know. at least you have the ball rolling now, and it can only take you a step nearer to holding your own baby, come hell or high water. Thinking of you x

Good luck on Monday, Nomore. I'll be keeping almost everything crossed for you, as Monday wil be cd 7 for me, and time to climb on the rollercoaster of ttc again...

Hello to everyone else

BabyBratt · 07/07/2007 14:59

Nomore, good luck with your appointment I will keep everything crossed.

Ready I know I am only on my 8 cycle but I know how hard it is to keep positive. I too believe everything happens for a reason it keeps me going. Any time you need a bit of optimism you are welcome to share mine.

Hi Treenie hope you are well, have you discovered the Fertility Friend website, it helps you chart everything and works dates out etc. I am little bit of a late developer so I've only just discovered this.

Hi Kensgirl and everyone else.

Anyone got any good news to report? Any more News Fi

PinkMartini · 07/07/2007 15:10

Hi everyone. Posting quickly to say hello - I am back from holiday, where we relaxed, enjoyed the sunshine and had a bit of bding fun. Am on my 2ww now, so we'll see how successful it was! Off to read the thread properly.

BabyBratt · 09/07/2007 09:16

Good luck this morning nomore

mistlethrush · 09/07/2007 09:38

Morning all - after usual weekend away from Mumsnet due to over work at home. Too many concerts, too much rain! Sureal moment was ds on potty at the back of a gazebo with guitarist and violinst playing away in front of us and lots of other people still sitting out on picnic chairs under umbrellas, probably wondering what ds and me up to in the back-ground...

The delights you've got to look forward to!

Ikea - definitely think that the animial one is suitable for those of you that (like me) didn't want to know whether m or f beforehand. Fi needs the hocus pocus one - but I think that only came in larger sizes, so you'll have to wait for that one Fi... The trouble is, some of the others rather depend on whether m or f - whilst you can have a yellow theme for either, pastel blue or pastel pink is a bit of a problem! I think that it is sometimes good to look at that sort of thing and have it as a positive thing - that's what I will get when (rather than if)...

Congratulations Gilly! Hope things go smoothly with move down. You might find the move in jobs is just what you need (it certainly worked for me).

Nomore - hope all goes well, let us know.

PinkMartini · 09/07/2007 11:25

There's been so much to catch up on but it seems like you've all been Hut-worthily depressed while I've been away.
Sorry to hear it's getting to you.

I'm CD 22 today (cycle usually about 26 days, so will have to wait and see..)

gilly you must be in full packing mode for the big move - hope it's all going well. I do love the excitement of moving house and am feeling a bit "stuck in a rut" with our place at the moment - need to decorate or something as I don't think moving is the way forward, sadly.

nomore good luck today, that was quick to get it through on friday and have the appt on monday!

ready how do you do it, keeping this thread going through hell and high water?! I lol'ed at you having an email for Treenie in "drafts" - i do that ALL the time!

Treenie I know what you mean about looking at nursery stuff - I'm somehow on all the mailing lists for Urchin, GLTC, Little White Company etc (must be from buying presents for nieces) and have to stop myself from drifting off into reveries about how to decorate.

Fifi have you booked your smear yet?

everyone else hello and sorry, but I can't keep up with it all.

My question for today. Are you at your ideal weight? If not are you doing something about it?

I ate/drank far too much on hols and am all time highest weight ever .
I was folllowing a great diet at the beginning of the year but it was high protein and worked well to begin with but (sorry TMI warning) the constipation got too much to deal with.

And I also read that you shouldn't TTC while following it.

What I should just do is give up sugar and salty snacks (well all snacks really) and cut down on the booze - we don't really drink at home unless we have people round but we make up for it when we're out.

Advice anyone?

mistlethrush · 09/07/2007 12:04

Hi PinkM - its a bit quiet here today isn't it?

I'm also trying to lose weight - friend and I who both used to go to WeightWatchers and did quite well but don't have time and don't want to spend that much just getting weighed, have decided to club together to do a 'how much have you lost this week' once a week, so that should help.

I find that I just have to do low fat, v little cheese and make sure that I don't have too many carbs. Mind you, I can go quite happily on only 5 pieces of fruit a day (once I get myself into the right frame of mind and don't have too many temptations and need to be busy at work) and feel great on it, so I think that I can really get by on very little, which makes it quite difficult to lose anything on a more 'normal' and long-term regime. Going to give it a good go though.

My most sucessful 2 weeks on WW was when I used most of my 'points' on alchohol and said sod it to most food. Trouble is that that's not v good for TTC either! (Hasten to add, not an alcolholic - just a bad 2 weeks!)

Treenie · 09/07/2007 13:22

Hi ladies
been away for a while as the waiting is driving me up the ruddy wall!
Before we get on to diet can I ask a ttc question please.
If you have crampy pains all day and then get af at 8pm is that CD1 or is the next day CD1? Trying to figure out whether I'm on CD34 or CD35?
Would love it to be CD35 cause that makes af a day late according to previous time I came off the pill. But I have to be realistic.
On Friday, 10 DPO, I got some really sharp pains that lasted only a few mins which I'm hoping very implantation pains. What do you reckon? Did I test yesterday which was neg so not testing again until Wed if AF hasn't shown up by then. Think it may still be too early.
Also had achy boobs so praying this is it!
What do we think ladies? Any advice?

Now weight. I'm 5'8' and 9st 4lbs so I think I'm OK for my height.
Pink Martini what I think you should eat a little of what you like whenever you want it. Don't deprive yourself or you'll end up eating more of it. What I do is eat loads of fruit and veg and brown rice, mulitgrain bread etc - all low GI stuff - do you know what I mean by that? And then have a little bit of what I fancy - chocolate etc.
Have you worked out your BMI? That will give you a better idea of your height/weight ratio. I'm sure it's not nearly as bad as you think it is.
Also are you excercising? I swear by yoga.
And please don't do anything like the atkins when you are ttc cause it's really not good for you - especially now when your body needs to be more balanced than ever.
Oh I really do hope I don't sound to preachy! Just want to help but have a tendency to be bossy!
x

toomuchtimeonline · 09/07/2007 13:44

Hi folks! Back from hols - sorry I stoped posting - my mobile stopped working once the thread got too big - missed you all lots!

Am going to catch up now and post in a bit!

As update - I'm in the 2ww after lots of bding on hols but not sure when AF due as it's my first month off the pill..

toomuchtimeonline · 09/07/2007 13:53

Treenie - How are you doing? Sounds like you're in the hardest part of the 2ww - I think you have to actually bleed for it to be CD1! Fingers crossed you've fallen this month - but if not it's only your first go - we'll go through it all again together next month

PM - how was the hols? Mine was fab - so relaxing to spend 2 weeks with DH without work stresses - hoping that all the relaxed holiday bding has worked for us both

MT - laughing at your potty shenanigans - can't wait for little moments like that! Sounds like you still have an active social life with DS. I've seen a few friends have babies recently and they have almost become different people - no longer doing the things that made them them IYSWIM - like going on holiday to a place they never would have before kids just cos the kids might like it.. very strange..

Ready - sorry to hear you've lost your optimism - have a bit of my sunshine from spain bright feeling - I know it will only last a couple more days so grab it while you can

BB - Hi - how's it going? Hope this will be lucky number 9 month for you!

Nomore - any news yet from your appointment?

Fi - where are you - any news?? Are those boys keeping you too busy..

Gilly - only 3 weeks left in the glorious north! Are you nearly sorted for moving yet? Hope it's lucky number 9 month for you too

Everyone else - I need to read the rest of the thread to catch up properly..

Q - I'm fairly heavy at the moment - a size 14-16 so really want to lose weight but focusing more on being healthy and eating lots of good things like veg and fish.. Although I'm a bit worried that I'm never going to be a size 12 again if I go into having kids as a size 14-16

PinkMartini · 09/07/2007 13:59

Mistlethrush - that sounds about right with WW on the booze front LOL. I did it up to my wedding and it did work but inevitably when I stopped following it all piled on again.

Treenie - you're absolutely in the right frame for 5'8 - I'm, er three stone more than you - so def on the overweight end of the scale - the height is a bit of a curse, as I think I can get away with things more than I actually can which is why the scales are so depressing at the moment.

I do know GI and probably do need to get on board with that really. Have had a salad for lunch (but did have mayo with it - oops)

I should probably cut down on coffee too - not good for TTC I don't think and all my weight is now round my middle which is meant to be stress related - coffee doesn't help
with that.

I read somewhere that women think about their body/weight as often as men think about sex. Sounds about right in my case.

Sorry, I'm bleating.

Right enough bleating about weight, back to TTC stuff

Treenie that all sounds good - fingers crossed. I never know that about when your cycle day is when you come on late in the day (I use Persona so I count from the day on that) My cycle's not super regular though, so it's hard to tell. (i've been trying to monitor but never note whether it's that day or the night before etc so I'm a bit of a mess)

Toomuch - just like me lots of holiday sex and relaxing - I hope it's done the trick!
Reckon I'm due this Friday 13th (which hardly bodes well!!) so here's hoping.

Treenie · 09/07/2007 14:02

Toomuch! Hello my lovely! Glad to have you back. Do not worry about the weight thing at all. Focus on getting preggers and then all the running around after the baby will help you lose it no probs.
Also you can diet at any point in your life but this is not the time to start messing around with weight as it can effect your hormones. Am sure you are gorgeous anyway so don't worry about it. I've seen women drop from size 24 to size 10 cause they put their mind to it - so you'll be able to get to a szie 12 no probs I'm sure.

I did bleed on the first day but not till 8pm so am classing that as CD1 which means this is CD 35 - never remember having a cycle this long before even when I came off the pill so am really hoping! Might do a sneaky wee test tomorrow! Argh the waiting is driving me mad!
x

toomuchtimeonline · 09/07/2007 14:30

Treenie - careful the fairy will come and get you - it's so hard to wait isn't it! I feel completely normal no twinges - no cravings - no funny taste in my mouth - so reckon it hasn't worked this month.. I'm going out with friends on Saturday so really want to know either way before then so that they won't guess if I don't drink - but I'll only be CD 27 then.. about 9-10 dpo - so don't think I'm going to know..

PM - what CD are you on we sound like quite a similar cycle this month..

mistlethrush · 09/07/2007 14:55

Toomuch - I'm sure that I went off red wine by that time, even though no tests would have picked it up. But that's just me, so probably no good to go on - you might not like red wine anyway!

And yes, we do do lots of things with ds. Holidays are different though - we used to do lots of walking and, for obvious reasons now that he's walking himself, this is reduced - but we definitely take him out and want him to go to appropriate concerts or sit in on some rehearsals for concerts so that he gets used to this (part of our life, so hopefully it will become part of his too and the earlier he gets used to it the better (he slept through Belshazzar's Feast at 5wks - choir of 400, large orchestra, 2 brass bands)). Potty training does put a bit of a restriction on activities at the moment as we can only go to places where we are prepared to get the potty out and sit him on it - when he needs it we've not yet got time to find a secluded place!

PinkM - I started diet last week - do you want to join me? I have same problem as you - height and build means that people don't think I'm as heavy as I am. However, do have problem losing - had to go way below recommended points on WW to lose despite doing lots of exercise. Not Fair

Treenie - if only! Despite BF ds, weight didn't just 'drop off' like it should have done -and despite ds (2.3) being quite active (he now walks 2 - 3 miles regularly, with breaks and duck feeding etc) most of this is at too slow a pace (for me) to be proper 'exercise'.

Treenie · 09/07/2007 15:45

OK have totally given up on working for the day because all I can think about is 'is there a bun in this oven?!'

Where are the relaxed women of the world who just fall pregnant and don't really think about it?! I'd like to know their secret!

Mistlethrush having been a preggie before can you tell me anything about surging feelings in boobs?! Shooting pains towards my nipples but not painful if that makes sense?! Also have twinges under my armpit!
Help!

I don't really know what to add about the weight thing without sounding like one of those skinny irratating people - which I'm prob doing right now.
All I can say is that in a place like MN where you can't see people's bods, faces, choice of clothes etc you have to form opinions on the basis of what they say and do. If only RL was the same. And based on that I'd say you all seem pretty gorgeous to me!
That sounds weird but you know what I mean!

Someone talk to me please cause I'm going mad with all this wondering!

x

toomuchtimeonline · 09/07/2007 16:04

Hi Treenie! How many days DPO are you? I think that you probably can't rely on anything you're feeling now as the mind can trick you into lots of things.. it's just a case of waiting for AF or a BFP - which tests have you been using? I've just been online to buy some first response for the weekend.. not sure when I can use them as not sure when AF is due but reckon I'll test on Saturday morning just to see..I'll be DPO 10-11 ish by then.

Treenie · 09/07/2007 16:13

Reckon I am dpo 13 today. Think I want to wait a few more days and if AF doesn't arrive I'll test - don't want to see any BFN unecessarily - one way or the other IYSWIM?

Toomuch if I was you I'd wait till you are dpo 14 cause it avoids dissapointment. I know a lot of people say they get BFP four days before af is due but a lot also don't.
And you don't know where your cycle is either cause you're just off the pill.
The only reason I have a rough idea is because I came off the pill last year last year for two months and the same earlier this year - so I'm hoping it follows the same pattern. Have never reached CD36 yet as far as I can remember.

This month is really a waiting game for us both.
x

mistlethrush · 09/07/2007 16:17

Treenie - afaikr the most memorable symptom was passing glasses of red wine over to dh - which surprised him hugely. I think I also started to feel a bit tired. Don't remember any other tingles etc that early, but that's not to say that other people don't get them. Then, of course, nausea can make an appearance fairly early - it was that continuing that made me worry so much last autumn as despite mc kept on feeling sick - which is why I put the weight back on that I had managed to shift in August...

Tests do seem to be fairly sensitive now - when I tested after mc in autumn (Dr recommended) I was able to report back that if I was wanting to be pregnant, there was not enough blue there to suggest that I was, but if I wanted not to be pregnant (ie if molar pg not coming back which was what I was hoping) there was too much blue. Blood test at hospital confirmed this - HCG levels still too high to be normal, but were less than would be at 14dpo, and cheap supermarket test picked this up.

(I found, during successful pg, that oatcakes were one of the things that stopped me throwing up best. Journeys were the worst as I felt nauseous before I started then got car sick on top - basically had to eat something all the time at an early stage - put 1st on in first 10 weeks! - again, something that I hope won't affect you so much, but something more to look forward to!)

toomuchtimeonline · 09/07/2007 16:29

I know what you mean.. but just want to know now [stamps feet]

BabyBratt · 09/07/2007 16:35

Hello ladies

I am desperately trying not to get my hopes up.

But I am suffering from the following;

  1. funny metal taste in my mouth, making things taste a little strange.
  2. the only time I don't feel sick is when Im eating 3.not sleeping through the night
  3. Really sore bust - (but that is normal in the 2ww)
  4. I've been sick last night but again this can be part of my PMT
  5. Bad back ache

Im only on CD25 so I am convinced this is all in my head but you can't help but hope. I am sure women do not get poorly this early. Also you are supposed to be ill in the morning and I am ill at night. No implantation signs, did have a drop in temperature but I do not trust that. Im going to look very silly when I end up in the TTC August thread

Not done a test yet, Im very proud of myself but the mind is an awful thing it can play terrible tricks.

I should join you in the diet area, although Im hoping my new organic lifestyle will help with that. Treenie you must be very slim.
