We seem to have filled up our last thread so here is a new one.

A wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the ttc journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Goodluck to all ladies we can do it Smile

@kescilly tbh I don't pay much attention to that normally just interested to see. Use mine mainly for step tracking. Thanks for the heads up.

@melamine not sure I will but time will tell if I can keep my nerve or if I cave and say sod it and go for one. Glad it helped you a bit. Trying the mantra of nothing I do well change the outcome and for now at least I am pregnant try to enjoy it as much as I can. Got booked in with mw for beginning of November and having flu jab on Friday.

Hmm I just went to my gynae appointment and the doctor there said my previous blood tests where the consultant said, everything is fine you're producing an egg every month (in his most patronising manner via letter) was wrong, as I suspected! She said I'm not ovulating and the cut off for nhs ivf is 39and 7 months so I'm having a repeat blood test then being sent for ivf. Always get the blood results, is the moral of that story.

The waiting time is only a couple of months or so around here I think, so I'm on a proper health mission now.

Blondcat · 09/10/2018 17:54

@79andnotout sorry to hear that you have been messed around but sounds like you now have someone who is determined to help you. Good luck x

I'm so so sorry you got an incompetent doc @79andnotout! The same happened to my ex with his SA results - the computer the GP used didn't flag the results as abnormal and they simply didn't look at the reference range when they gave him his results 😕

How are you feeling about what they've told you?

Darkstar4855 · 09/10/2018 18:28

Congratulations @blondcat, having been lurking here with my fingers crossed for you, so pleased it’s a BFP! Really hope all goes well.

Congratulations @melamine too on the scan news.

Good luck with the IVF @79andnotout, hope you finally get the result you deserve too.

I had an early scan at 9 weeks which really helped my anxiety levels after having spotting early on. I didn’t really relax until after my dating scan though!

Carley32 · 09/10/2018 18:39

@79andnotout! Sorry about that absolute dick (mind my french) of a doctor. Hope you are ok. But I guess atleast you have a doctor that is willing to help ASAP
Now. So I guess that is something of a positive. We are all here for a vent and whatever else you may need 💗💐.

Well I’m out this time around 😳. AF showed it’s stupid head this afternoon. I knew my in psyche was telling me not to waste money on a test this morning for a reason! But I’m not going to let it bother me too much. Atleast this cycle (40 days) was a little shorter than the last which was 87! So every cloud I suppose 👍😊.

QuantumGirl · 09/10/2018 18:40

Sorry to hear that @79andnotout. What a bunch of muppets 😠. Does it mean you were not ovulating at all or only a few months? Were you using OPK?

79andnotout · 09/10/2018 18:49

Thanks everyone. Yeah I feel fine. It's good to have a plan! I like action.

Glad all is going well @Darkstar4855!

Oxted2018 · 09/10/2018 20:00

@79andnotout - That is really annoying but at least now things are progressing and you have a plan of action. It's always good to have a plan!

@Carley32 Sorry to hear you're out. I am too - I definitely have AF. So far it is proving to be quite a lot lighter than usual but I can't pretend it is anything else. So alas no tent baby!

Blondcat · 09/10/2018 20:04

@darkstar4855 glad to hear all is going well with you.

@oxted2018 and @carley32 sorry you both got af.

Aw sorry to you too @Oxsted. It’s shit but I’m feeling ok about a fresh start. The waiting really got to me this month. It’s so bloody hard.

Thanks @Blondecat. 1 out of 3 isn’t bad though. Hopefully this good news will continue 😊

Carley32 · 09/10/2018 20:14

*@Blondcat

79andnotout · 09/10/2018 20:16

Sorry to you both @Oxted2018 and @Carley32, although at least that does sound like a positive direction @Carley32.

This is all one long slog, isn't it? I'm just here mentally preparing myself for the year ahead. TTC is certainly chapter building. And as for my friends who's had 5 failed ivfs, I cannot believe how they bounce bag each time. It's amazing. It gives me strength.

PixieN · 09/10/2018 21:37

Good luck with ivf @79andnotout sorry to hear about your crap doctor, but glad things are progressing now. You’re right about it being a long slog though!

Sorry to hear about af @Oxted2018 and @Carley32 and good luck for next time. I’m sure they’ll be another bfp on the thread soon, fingers crossed x

Beeseeinya · 09/10/2018 21:53

Boooo to your AFs girls. Pretty sure mine will be any minute. BAD cramping since this afternoon, and really nasty tummy upset, thank gawd I was working from home. Seems like my insides are preparing me for an epic monster AF from hell. Yay.

CNizzle · 09/10/2018 22:42

Aww @Beeseeinya i feel ya pain. I seem to be having the heaviest, sorest AF in months right now. Floating about in a naproxen/cocoadamol haze!
I was feeling very sorry for myself last night & got a bit emotional, but im a bit better today. Really though i had it this month.

On a better note OH birthday celebrations started. We went out for a lovely six-course taster lunch in a trendy part of glasgow & they gave us free fizz! I've wrapped his prezzies this evening to pack up to go to London tomorrow. Ive also snuck into the case a cake, candles & a birthday banner. Ha ha he'll hate all the fuss!

Also splashed out on a 2nd hand CB fertility monitor of ebay & some sticks. Might as well give sonething else a go. Not sure they'll be any better than the cheapo ones, but made me feel like i was doing something.

Carley32 · 10/10/2018 07:06

It is a long old slog of confusion, moodiness and anxiety lol. I never imagined it would be anything like this. But we can all keep trying.

I’m the same this time around. All I want to do Is cosy up with a hot water bottle (2 AF in 6 months is probably the cause though).

@79 good luck with IVF. 2 friends have been through it. One with beautiful twins and another with a lovely little girl. Lots of luck being sent to your friends to get their chance 💐.

@CNizzle sounds like a great start to the celebrations. Have a brilliant time in London. And let me know how you find the CB monitor!

BambiOnIce80 · 10/10/2018 07:42

Sorry to hear AF has arrived @Oxted2018 and @Carley32💐Hope it's a false alarm and it stays away for you @Beeseeinya 🤞🏻

Sounds like you've had an awesome start to DP's birthday break @CNizzle 😎 I'm very jealous of your 6 course lunch! 😋

I'm with you on the 'good to have a plan' ethos @79andnotout 👍 I'm feeling a lot more chilled now that the NHS machine is kicking in and doing what it does. My DP has his repeat SA tomorrow, I have my CD21 bloods on Friday and I'm going to bet that old faithful AF turns up bang on time and book my CD4 bloods for Monday the 22nd whilst I'm there. Looking forward to either getting some answers about what isn't working or at least finding out what our options are... It's certainly gearing up to be a long slog 😏

PixieN · 10/10/2018 12:24

Well, I finally got around to finding out my blood test results. My progesterone level was 33.9 - apparently that’s good and I am ovulating? Another hormone was mentioned (prolactin?) to do with the production of breast milk which is a little higher than it should be. Just been researching that and now I’m confused as apparently that can affect ovulation and mean a lower progesterone level? I know there’s lots of people with science backgrounds on here - help Confused Not sure what all this means.

I’ve had a positive opk when I’ve tested previously, but stopped using them for various reasons. Started again (just cheapies) this month and not had a hint of a positive yet (app says I should have ovulated two days ago) but maybe it’s been affected because i’ve been ill? Or maybe I can’t trust the app or cheap opks? Or a mixture of all the above 😏

BambiOnIce80 · 10/10/2018 12:40

Sounds like they've thrown a lot of hard to digest information at you @PixieN! First things first - are these results from CD21 or CD0-5? The results mean a world of difference depending on what day they were taken...

BambiOnIce80 · 10/10/2018 13:10

Found this link that may help, but please just be aware that it's an American link (couldn't find a handy British one, unfortunately 🙄) so the units the levels are measured in may very well be different to what a British lab uses:

drmeaghandishman.com/female-fertility-labs-explained/

PixieN · 10/10/2018 13:16

Thanks @BambieOnIce Think it was supposed to be CD21 though I think it was day 26 x

BambiOnIce80 · 10/10/2018 13:56

I think prolactin is supposed to be a CD0-5 test @PixieN, so them saying that it's high at CD26 might be being taken completely out of context (the reference range may be for CD0-5, if you see what I mean?). If it's worrying you, I'd bring it up with them. Are you going to be getting CD0-5 bloods done too?

79andnotout · 10/10/2018 14:53

Hi @PixieN - yeah you can't trust them with days, yesterday at my appointment they said my progesterone was 3 and the follow up was 20, but as far as I was aware I'd only had one progesterone test. Thinking about it afterwards, I think the lab must have done a progesterone test at day 3 with my other bloods too, when they weren't supposed to.

Good news that you are ovulating!
