We seem to have filled up our last thread so here is a new one.

A wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the ttc journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Goodluck to all ladies we can do it Smile

That looks positive to me @Carley32 👍 Smile x

Kescilly · 28/09/2018 03:56

Exciting @Carley32! Hope you’re getting busy! Wink

Carley32 · 28/09/2018 07:09

😁😁 it was a very exciting 5 bloody months I’ve been waiting to see that 😂 lol.

Hope you are feeling a little better @Pixie

Hope you are all doing ok... any testing coming up? X

BambiOnIce80 · 28/09/2018 07:38

Urghhhhh! Don't know what was wrong with my mumsnet yesterday but it wouldn't let me post 😕 Was desperately trying to say "yes, that is a very BFP OPK @Carley32" but it wouldn't sodding let me! I hope you made the most of it last night?! 😉

Anyway. Very glad to hear the lube is helping get the job done @Beeseeinya 👍

@PixieN, I'd be asking Dr Google about the vitamins and effect on cycle length.

I had my appointment with the lovely GP lady yesterday and she did not disappoint with her loveliness 😊 She remembered me and my back story from having my coil out in March (which was impressive in an overstretched NHS within itself). Told her no TTC joy in 6 months, over 36 years old and a previous diagnosis of unexplained primary infertility from 3.5 years TTC with the ex. Listed off the changes to my cycle, the dry vag and my perimenopause concerns. She's made me an appointment for my CD21 bloods (just progesterone, to see if ovulation took place) and then I've got to make a CD1-5 appointment when next AF shows up (for eostrodiol, testosterone, prolactin, AMH, FSH and thyroid function). In the meantime she's referring DP and I to the assisted conception unit (nearly fell off my chair when she said that 😮) due to my age and previous diagnosis. I said I thought they wouldn't even consider taking us yet because we've only been trying together for 6 months. She said she's basing her referral on my 4 years of accumulative trying. No guarentees that the ACU will see things her way, but it's just comforting to know we'll be in the system... I think a wee gin and grapefruit juice maybe in order to destress tonight! 🍊🍸😪

CNizzle · 28/09/2018 07:47

@bambionice sounds like you GP is on the ball, thats good that shes getting things moving. We got an appointment really quickly from the ACS, but tge first appointment was really just a chat about how we proceed. Once your in the sysyem it seems that the pace slows down a bit.
Good luck with the bloods. X

InDreamland · 28/09/2018 08:24

Sorry ladies. So hard to keep up here.

@Carley32 that definitely looks like a +OPK. Hope you had some fun lastnight.

Got my static smiley on the CB OPK last night so got in some BD. Relieved as had 5 days of flashing smiley and was CD15 yesterday so was worried I wouldn't ov this month. Only cycle 2 post mc so was thinking all that super fertility after mc is rubbish and was just typical of me to be the unlucky one who doesn't ov or get pregnant. So desperate to be pregnant again.

QuantumGirl · 28/09/2018 08:35

@BambiOnIce80 that is fantastic news, your GP lady seems fab it's so reassuring when your doc is on board. After my disappointing GP consultation on Wednesday I booked another one with a GP lady for the 5th as I just want to hear her opinion. I've also been to boots and bought CoQ10 and complex B vitamin. After a 40 minutes round trip I got home and realised I forgot to buy OPK tests 🙈. Stupid brain. It's only CD8 today so I think I got time before i get a positive.

Gaby1982 · 28/09/2018 09:15

Hi ladies, I’m soon to be 36, have been ttc for about 18 months, got BFP a few days before Christmas last year but had a mmc at 7-8 weeks followed by ERPC in early February. We took a few months off and now we have been actively ttc again for 4 cycles. AF is due on Monday and did a quick response pregnancy test this morning with BFN. :( it’s difficult not to feel disappointed and discouraged... oh well, at least it’s Friday!

BambiOnIce80 · 28/09/2018 11:05

Thanks @CNizzle and @QuantumGirl 💖 I don't think we'll get anywhere near any treatment for at least a year (probably nearer to 2) - pretty sure they'll want to repeat the HSG and intrauterine ultrasound first, rather than just accepting my 5 year old results from down south. Time will tell...

@QuantumGirl, I think you've still got plenty of time to grab those OPK's 👍 Do you have amazon prime? Very handy for rapid delivery of OPK's/FRER's/preseed 🚚

Sounds like your cycles back on track @InDreamland 🙂 Keeping my fingers-crossed for you 🤞🏻

Welcome @Gaby1982 💐 I can't imagine how hard an MC must be after 18 months of trying 😔 I wouldn't be too disheartened with your BFN FRER - if AF isn't due until Monday then you'd be in with a chance of getting a false BFN this early. I hope AF stays away for you 🍀

Russkispy · 28/09/2018 11:58

AF just turned up. It's crap but not giving up. Might go for IUI next cycle.

Gaby1982 · 28/09/2018 13:49

Thank you @BambiOnIce80 , but I don't even want to think about the possibility of a BFP... I feel I would be setting myself up for a bigger low when AF shows up! :S This is such a roller-coaster of emotions and as much as DH and I are trying to keep cool, it just gets harder and harder. It is nice to have this space to be able to openly talk about fears, worries, etc. Thanks, ladies! And I'll be crossing my fingers and toes for a BFP for all of us!

Carley32 · 28/09/2018 19:28

@BambiOnIce80 that’s good news about your GP. She sounds lovely. It makes such a difference to talk to someone that doesn’t make you feel silly or a time waster. I struggle to find understanding GP’s these day. Their all so cold and technical.

Yet. I love having a second opinion 😁. And yes made the most of it!! After building up the courage to actually come on to DP (silly I know).

@quantum yea Amazon is fab. I ordered mine about 4pm on a Thursday and they were back by sat.

@InDreamland good luck Hun. 🤞 🤞

@Gaby1982 Hi 👋. Sorry to hear about mc. I can’t imagine how it felt. 😞.
🤞 that you frer was wrong and AF doesn’t show!

@Russkispy stay positive good luck for next cycle maybe make the most of it and have a glass of wine... or 3 😊. And what is IUI if you don’t mind me asking? Not there with every term on this page quite yet 🙈 lol. X

Russkispy · 28/09/2018 20:39

Thanks @Carley32 ! IUI = used to be called artificial insemination. A less invasive procedure than IVF. My DD of 15 months was was conceived with IUI using my DH's sperm. My second IUI in may was used with DH's sperm but resulted in a missed miscarriage.

Carley32 · 28/09/2018 20:59

@Russkispy oh really. That’s interesting. I am learning so many new things. Well I think all avenues are good to know. But stay positive and enjoy a sneaky wine or 2. I’m keeping 🤞 for you xx

Russkispy · 28/09/2018 21:23

Thanks @Carley32 . I don't drink alcohol and quietly sipping my fertility tea as we speak. Smile I'd also go down IVF route if I have to. Whatever it takes!

Kescilly · 28/09/2018 21:59

@Russkispy sorry about AF. It sounds like you have a plan. Will you be having it done at the same place as before?

I’m pleased that they are they are taking you seriously, @BambiOnIce80. That must be a bit of a relief.

Russkispy · 28/09/2018 22:21

@Kescilly , thank you. Yes, the very same clinic with the same doctor. Going there it's like my second home, in the nicest possible way! Will be taking my DD with me as my dad and brother still live there. "Business" combined with pleasure, as it were.

edidxb · 29/09/2018 12:21

Hi all. I have been following this thread for the last month and I have to say that it is the best thread out there for people like us! I have read so many comments and though - that's me.
I never wanted children when I was younger - they used to scare me so much, and I never really had maternal urges. But now all of that has changed!
I am 36 years old and actually currently live in Dubai (hope that's OK) but I am British. I came off the pill in September last year and fell pregnant in January really the first month it was possible to fall pregnant. I wasn't tracking anything either really. I am sure you can see where this is going though........I ended up with a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks and had to have an operation in March. Roll on to almost October and I have not fallen pregnant again.
I am probably on month 4 of actually trying now as we had a little break. I have symptom spotted everything and convinced myself I was pregnant twice (but I wasn't). When you google "spotting at 12dpo" and believe all the stories even though you know it is just AF starting. That was me yesterday.
So AF is now here, I am back to CD1 and thought it was a sign to join the thread that I have been lurking in!
Hello everyone. I am hoping that this will give me the chance to at least type out some of my feelings instead of going mental! Apologies for the essay!

CNizzle · 29/09/2018 16:20

Hi @ededxb welcome!
Sorry about your loss. Im a terrible symptom-spotter & googler too! As dissapointing as AF is, Cd1 is a fresh start (or so i try to convince myself each month).
Im currently 3dpo so need to just chill out for a week or so, and try to take my mind off the symptom-spotting.

InDreamland · 29/09/2018 16:33

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 and @Carley32.

@Russkispy Flowers sorry AF turned up. Fx for next cycle and possibly IUI.

BambiOnIce80 · 29/09/2018 17:34

It is indeed a bit of a relief @Kescilly 👍 I hope you're having a lovely holiday?

Sorry AF has turned up @Russkispy 💐 Sounds like you've got a good plan in place though 🙂

Welcome @edidxb 👋 I'm so sorry for your MC 😔 I agree this thread is a god send for maintaining sanity whilst TTC - don't know what I'd do without you lot! 💖

Kescilly · 29/09/2018 18:05

Thanks Bambi, we are. We leave tomorrow to go back home so it’s been a bit fast. I also feel bad because I’ve had to keep my distance from my brother, sister-in-law, and niece, because they’ve all been sick. My immune system is pretty poor and now I can’t even take my usual meds. They probably think I’m being weirdly standoffish!

BambiOnIce80 · 29/09/2018 19:01

@Kescilly, they'll totally understand in a couple of months when you let the cat out of thd bag 😉

Carley32 · 29/09/2018 19:09

@ededxb Hello 👋. Sorry to hear about the rough time you had 💗. It’s very sad. But always good to talk.
I hope you have some luck this cycle, 🤞🤞 for you.
Dubai sounds interesting, what an amazing place to live xx
