We seem to have filled up our last thread so here is a new one.

A wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the ttc journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Goodluck to all ladies we can do it Smile

I’ve just started taking ubiquinol too (which I think is Coq10 once it’s been absorbed) along with the pregnacare supplements. DH takes the Wellman ones every other day as he’s not convinced they’re as good overall as his regular multivitamins!

Ironically, he’s not a well man today and it’s fw. We managed to dtd twice earlier in the week (before he started feeling rubbish) but will see how he is tomorrow. We’re on a schedule lol Grin Plenty of ewcm (for a change) so hopefully don’t miss ovulation.

@oxted2018 - never heard of anyone sleeping in a tent on the top of their car before. Sounds like an interesting holiday! How amazing would it be as a place to conceive lol.

As a lighthearted aside, inspired by the thought of dtd in a tent on the car roof (and to take our minds off the tedium of ttc) we could share our strangest/weirdest places we’ve ever dtd or would like to? Mine was outside on a trampoline when DH and I first got together 🙈😁 Not told anyone that before! 😂 Not as adventurous these days...!

Carley32 · 12/09/2018 22:56

It does doesn’t it. I’m actually on antibiotics at the moment. Is it ok to ttc while taking them? There are so many do’s and donts I can’t keep up.

Are there any vitinkins that are not recommended? X

Carley32 · 12/09/2018 22:56

*vitimins

Kescilly · 13/09/2018 15:38

I think it’s probably fine to take them, @Carley32. If you’re unsure you could always ring the GP or pharmacist and ask. Make sure you finish the prescription!

@PixieN I’m not adventurous at all but once as teenagers we had nowhere to go except the car. And then the cops showed up. I’m still cringing about it now! Blush

BambiOnIce80 · 13/09/2018 16:39

@PixieN I'm far from adventurous, but when I was a student and my nan was helping me clean out my room at the end of second year she found a used condom under the bed and said "well, at least you're being careful. I wish I'd had more experience than just your grandad"!! 😱🤢😱🤢 I wanted to die!! 😂

Footnote: I'm not a skanky cow, honest! The guy I was seeing must have lobbed it under there rather than take the 3 steps to the bin to dispose of it 😣

Blondcat · 13/09/2018 17:54

My most risky time was at a work friend's wedding outside on the edge of the Orchard just out of sight of the marquee but only about 10 minds later they set off fireworks which lit up the whole area where we were (could have been a little embarrassing)! This was about 15 or more years ago much less adventurous as gotten older...

OP posts:
Oxted2018 · 13/09/2018 19:10

Ooh the wedding is a good one. My most interesting one is on a train. But it wasn't risky like on the 8:42 am into London Victoria or anything! We had a train cabin on a long distance train.

Don't think I've done it anywhere particularly scandalous actually - perhaps I need to remedy this!!

Oxted2018 · 13/09/2018 19:10

Love your footnote there @Bambi!!

CNizzle · 13/09/2018 19:53

Ha ha @Blondcat , me too at a wedding, in a little cave in a secret garden of a stately home!! I knew Scottish men wore kilts for a reason!!!! He he!

CNizzle · 13/09/2018 19:55

@Kescilly ooh cringe!! Blush

CNizzle · 13/09/2018 20:02

On a different note, i got my appointment through for HyCoSa scan. But when i check my calendar its gonna fall after ov at end of october. I need to rebook it, but thatll take it into November. But scared, think its supposed to be sore.

OH just text saying "sounds fun" hmm sarky, two can play that game... Hes still not been for his SA yet, so i replied with "Makes a cupboard w*nk sound appealing anyway."!!

PixieN · 13/09/2018 21:18

Haha - thanks ladies. These have really made me laugh 😂 Yikes @kescilly so embarrassing! Blush

PixieN · 13/09/2018 21:22

@CNizzle a friend had that scan and she said it wasn’t too bad x

BambiOnIce80 · 13/09/2018 22:15

@CNizzle, how do you get on with smear tests?! I had the HCS last time round and it didn't bother me at all. It's just like a 20 minute smear test with the extra added (cool 😎) distraction of being able to watch high contrast dye whooshing into your uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries and seeing it all on the big screen 😄 It's amazing how small it is!! Not like the GCSE text book diagram size 😂 And I'm no doctor, but it was pretty clear everything was where it was supposed to be with mine (someone I know found out she had half of everything on her HCS 😳). The radiographer starts by saying they can't tell you if it's normal or not (your doctor will give you your results, blah, blah, blah), but as soon as I was like "oh, is that my uterus?!" they started going "yes, so that's a good example of a normal uterus... No blockages in your fallopian tubes... Ovaries attached at the end of both..." so keep them talking 😉 I forgot that the ends of our fallopian tubes have a gap at the end, so that was a bit of a weird education watching dye speed through your fallopian tubes and out the end! 😂

CNizzle · 13/09/2018 22:28

@Bambionice80 im totally fine with a smear, so thats reassuring. Thanks.
Actually, I'm a radiographer (different type entirely, so i know nothing about this procedure) so being able to see whats going on does appeal to me! *imaging-geek! Hopefully I'll have a bit of an idea if what im looking at, Although ultrasound is a completely different kettle of fish to my specialty!

BambiOnIce80 · 13/09/2018 22:44

Oooh @CNizzle you're a shoe-in then for an inside chat if your one of their own! 😎 Do remember to take a couple of paracetamol before hand - it didn't bother me at all whilst I was having it done but it did twinge a bit a couple of hours later.

79andnotout · 14/09/2018 02:28

@CNizzle mine was absolutely agony and I've never had problems with smears and have a pretty reasonable pain threshold, but my cervix was blocked and they had to spend an hour poking around in there before they could even do the HSG. I couldn't walk or drive for about an hour afterwards! If I was to do it again I'd get OH to take me. My tubes were not blocked though, so that was good. They were pretty happy to talk me through the results of the HSG (although not the cervix issues, not their department apparently!).

Definitely take painkillers in advance just in case.

QuantumGirl · 14/09/2018 10:13

Hi ladies, what is HCS test for? Is it a check up scan? I'm tempted to go for one privately. Is it worth it?

Oxted2018 · 14/09/2018 12:35

I've not had any scans/tests at all yet so I'm not well up on these at all but interested in the answers.

11dpo today and due AF according to the earliest of my calculations. Just been to the loo and I have got some blood when I wipe and think am about to start full throttle so I'm out for this month.

Blondcat · 14/09/2018 13:02

@oxted2018 that sucks sorry. Looking like the tent on jeep is the place for you...

@pixieN haha good topic, have enjoyed reading all the responses. I have various to choose from Blush including a thermal lake in Hungary (near some German tourists), a cable car taking us to the top of the ski run in France, a well known tourist attraction in Buenos Aires, a rubber ring floating down a river in Colombia...! Ah to be young and wild!

@cnizzle good luck with the procedure, FX it's all positive news.

@oxted, sorry to hear you're out :( best of luck next month.

Am 5+4 today and started spotting pink/brown yesterday and have monster backache so feeling a bit worried. Apparently lots of people get it in first trimester but spotting is definitely darker today. Did another preggo test this morning just to make sure there was progression and instantly got a line which turned darker than the control so I guess that's a good thing. First midwife appt not for an entire 3 weeks...!

BambiOnIce80 · 14/09/2018 13:09

Afternoon all 👋

@79andnotout that sounds like a hell of an experience 😨 Hope everything is OK now?

@QuantumGirl, the HCS/HSG (if they are in fact one and the same?!) was the first proper invasive test I got sent for. It's a type of scan where they pump high contrast dye into your uterus (via your cervix, which is why I found it similar to a smear test) to show up the size and shape of your uterus and fallopian tubes. They can tell if anything is blocked or not formed properly from this.

After I had that one, they then sent me for a intra uterine ultrasound that looked at the endometrial lining and the follicles/ovaries. It's again a bit like a smear test because the ultrasound wandy thing (sorry for crap terminology @CNizzle!) has to go in through your cervix once again.

... Once the investigations get going, you spend a fair bit of time legs akimbo in stirrups 😬

Sorry to hear AF might be on her way @Oxted2018 😔 If she is, I hope she hurries-up and gets on with it and doesn't mess you about.

Kescilly · 14/09/2018 13:46

Sorry to hear that Oxted. How long is your LP? I’m starting to worry that mine is too short since starting TTC.

Is anyone else testing soon? I want to see a positive, even if it’s not mine!

CNizzle · 15/09/2018 10:01

@79andnotout ive read about a few peole having painful hsg tests, ill just take the whole day off work i think. Although i just want it over with. I might see if they have any cancellations fo this cycle.

@Oxted2018 sorry about AF, its really feels like mother nature is giving you an extra kick when you're down when you get af doesn't it.

Finally ive managed to convince OH to go for his SA, all booked up for wednesday. Thank goodness, its been months of me moaning at him. Thing the arrival of the hsg appointment was the push he needed.

79andnotout · 15/09/2018 17:23

@CNizzle yeah good idea to take the day off just in case. I had quite bad cramps after mine.
