We seem to have filled up our last thread so here is a new one.

A wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the ttc journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Goodluck to all ladies we can do it Smile

Hi @sesh32

I'm taking a prenatal vitamin and vitamin b6 because I decided I had a short luteal phase!

Ava is comfy and I think (hope) that when it gets to know your cycle it calculates when you will ovulate. But all I have is several wiggly lines telling me how often I breathe (turns out - not that much!! I'm a slow breather! ) and how hot I am. Also, from the Facebook group, several people seem to experience regular technical issues with theirs.

I'm enjoying the novelty value but the novelty value is thus far not worth the insane price tag. Think I must have been hormonal and pissed off when I ordered it!!

Ooh - fingers crossed @Blondcat xx

Hi all I changed my name from sash32 (I suddenly didn’t want my real name on here incase friends happened to join mumsnet, as most are mums. Silly I know but it’s just nice to talk to people that understand and going through the same.

Sending all of you hugs and hopes to say a positive result soon. Also taking all of the advice on vitimins as I feel I could never possibly get all the nutrients expected down me.

I’ll just fill you in on where I’m at. Well I came off contraception in May and I have only seen 1 natural AF which was just last week. So I am freaking out a little as being irregular seems to make this process even harder. I’m pretty sure I ovulated about 3 weeks ago as the symptoms were just to much to be nothing. I am just so worried I’ll have to wait another 3 months to get another chance. Any past experiences in regards to stopping contraception or irregular periods and advice would be so appreciated xx

Kescilly · 12/09/2018 14:09

Hi Carley! How frustrating. I haven’t been on contraception for a while so can’t remember how long it took for my body to begin regulating again. Might be worth looking for other threads here by posters who have gone through similar?

I’m feeling a bit deflated today. I had my test results and my thyroid levels still aren’t where they should be. I’m not sure there’s a point in TTCing. It might not be even possible for me to get pregnant until that’s under control.

BambiOnIce80 · 12/09/2018 14:31

@Carley32, I'm pretty sure it's normal for your cycle to be out of whack after coming off of the pill. Someone I know came off it in March and she's still not had her first period yet. She went to see her doc and they said it's quite normal for ladies coming off the pill to not have a period for as long as 6 months after coming off. They should get back into a normal rhythm after your first proper period though, so fingers-crossed 🤞

@Kescilly, sorry to hear your thyroid isn't behaving itself 😔 Don't lose heart though. Are you hypo or hyper? Are they tweaking any meds?

Thanks for the ava update @Oxted2018 🙂 I still think I'd love the novelty but just can't justify the price tag!

Any news @Blondcat?

Blondcat · 12/09/2018 14:47

@carley32 I was on bc for a long time and was lucky to get period back quickly but no two months were exactly the same range from 24 - 26 day cycles until bfp then 24-25 after until couple of months ago and then changed to 27 which have been for last couple but who knows if it will change again. Body's are just confusing especially when ttc. Hopefully you are back on track a bit now you have had one.

@kescilly sorry you are having a rough day. I have read a few stories of slightly off thyroid issues and people getting pregnant so you never know.

@bambionice80 had cramps and some brown streaks in cm this morning usually start full flow first thing but felt very much like I was going to start so not tested. Just been and a bit of red blood on liner and when wiping so assume will get full flow shortly.
Oh well at least next fw is when we are on holiday so plenty of opportunity to dtd and be relaxed. (Was slightly concerned if was bfp this time as the six week mark where I had the mc in April would have been while away so at least I can relax and enjoy the holiday).

BambiOnIce80 · 12/09/2018 15:06

Next FW whilst on holiday sounds perfect @Blondcat 🙂 Sun, sea and DTD sounds like a recipe for success 🤞🍀

Oxted2018 · 12/09/2018 15:26

Sorry to hear that @blondcat. But totallly agree with @bambi, next month sounds good!

I'm also away for FW next month but I'm not sure that DTD in a tent pitched on top of a jeep is going to end well.....I'm horribly clumsy at the best of times.

BambiOnIce80 · 12/09/2018 15:44

@Oxted2018 - Tent? Jeep?! Remind me where you're holidaying! 😂 Please tell me there is at least an air mattress involved?!

Oxted2018 · 12/09/2018 16:56

Ha @Bambi! We are going to Namibia on a self-drive trip. We have a tent that apparently gets assembled on top of the car. I have heard no mention of an air mattress and I am now slightly regretting leaving DH to book this!!

@Blondcat - your trip is sounding far more relaxing! And conducive to making little blond cats! :-) Where are you off to?

Carley32 · 12/09/2018 17:00

@Blondcat thank you for the info. It really is a weight off just talking and hearing other stories. Sorry that Af seems to be making it’s appearance but lots of luck coming your way for next month.

@kescilly I’m sorry to hear your having a rough time. But even the smallest chance is still a chance. So don’t give up, you never know.

@BambiOnIce80 that’s made me feel a little relieved so thank you Bambi. It’s refreshing to hear it quite common becaus i haven’t found anyone else so far. I hope you get some luck too.

Just to let you all know I haven’t read through all the threads as there are so many. So Not caught up on where everyone’s at quite yet. But send lots of luck to you all.

Would I be right in saying that if my period was just over a week ago I would normally be due to ovulate sometime soon? As my periods aren’t regular I am struggling with all the guessing and stressing xx

Blondcat · 12/09/2018 17:02

@oxted2018 Namibia sounds great but not sure about the tent in the roof business Shock. We are off to Spain all inclusive (so just need to take the paid for food and alcohol easy... Yeah right!)

OP posts:
Blondcat · 12/09/2018 17:06

@carley32 you count cd1as first day of af full bleeding so if at a guess you had a 28 day cycle then fw would fall from approx cd9/10 with ov day approx cd 14 but keep a look out for ewcm as these are usually most fertile days.

QuantumGirl · 12/09/2018 17:31

@Oxted2018 What an amazing story to tell your little one how she/he was conceived 🤞😊

Carley32 · 12/09/2018 17:33

Thank you. So tomorrow will be cd14 and I have no symptoms at all. So I think I could be in for another wait until the next af. It’s all so much more confusing than I’d ever thought. I seem to keep wishing I’d stopped sooner.

Spain that’s fab. Defo a place to destress and get busy. Good luck xx

QuantumGirl · 12/09/2018 18:45

It also took me ages to get back to a normal period when I went off the pill and wasted lots of pregnancy tests with BFN. However it was a different story when I went off the mini pill as my periods went back to normal almost straight away. The bright side of it is that you are at a younger age, when I came off the normal pill I was already 35.

Carley32 · 12/09/2018 18:59

@QuantumGirl really? oh that is a little reassuring. It’s always good to talk to others. I just hope it isn’t another 3 month wait until the next one.
I’m so silly to ask but what is bfn? I’m new to all this and have no clue. Xx

QuantumGirl · 12/09/2018 19:23

BFN is big fat negative. We don't want that one. October will be BFP for us all 😍😘

Carley32 · 12/09/2018 19:35

Oh lol 🤦‍♀️ Yes I think so too. Good luck everyone. Well I bought some cheaply ovulation kits off the net and it usually has nothing other than one line but I think I can just see another faded line so I’m hoping that’s positive news x

Carley32 · 12/09/2018 19:36

Fingers crossed my cycle is returning to normal x

CNizzle · 12/09/2018 20:15

@carley32 ooh hopefully thats the start of a line there!
@oxted2018 Namibia sounds fab! Weve got a campervan, and its a big step up from sleeping in a tent! Id never go back now!!! I've seen those tent/jeep thinks, they're pretty cool!

Kescilly · 12/09/2018 20:50

That looks promising Carley!

Spain sounds amazing, @Blondcat!

@BambiOnIce80 I’m hypothyroid, and I was worried it would stop me from becoming pregnant (family history). But apparently it’s currently overtreated right now and could be affecting my fertility because it’s too far in the other direction. They’ve been tweaking my meds for a few months but they still aren’t right so I have to go back in another few months for more tests. Stupid thyroid.

Kescilly · 12/09/2018 21:08

Also I bought the CoQ10 pills from Boots and they look so sinister!

CNizzle · 12/09/2018 21:27

Ive been taking just a normal multivitamin that has folic acid in, ive read a few people taking co enzyme q10. Are they worth it? What are they supposed to do?

Kescilly · 12/09/2018 21:44

A few people mentioned it upthread for egg quality so I thought I’d give it a shot!

TheNewbieStep · 12/09/2018 22:38

I take CQ10 too 300mg a day - like a horse tranquilliser xxxWink
