Whooooop! X

@QuantumGirl - welcome lovely! X

Chelonia · 10/09/2018 09:39

@Blondcat here's hoping this is your month Flowers

CNizzle · 10/09/2018 10:25

Hi @quantumgirl!
Sit tight @blondcat!!
I think AF is here. Started spotting again last night, and a few cramps, so I'm just seeing how the day pans out.

BambiOnIce80 · 10/09/2018 11:02

Good morning everyone and welcome @QuantumGirl ☀️ I've no idea about the menopause state of play in my family and no way of finding out - probably just as well as it'd undoubtedly give me something else to obsess about! 😂

I'm CD17 today, so day 1 of the TWW for me. I'm trying to not drive myself nuts with the symptom spotting and just relax this time (yeah, we'll see how long that good intention lasts for 🙄). Taking comfort in the knowledge that this is the end of cycle 6 and I can go see the nice doctor lady for tests and get to the bottom of if I'm perimenopausal or not and move on, one way or another.

Which reminds me; I was catching up with a friend yesterday and she was telling me that a mutual friend is pregnant. Nothing too unusual about that, except for the fact that the pregnant friend went through the menopause when she was 17 😯 She's had IVF with a donor egg and is a good 14 weeks pregnant with all going well 🤞 It makes me wonder about how bigger deal being perimenopausal actual is, given what they can do with modern medical science 🤔 I'd be quite up for freezing my eggs if they're at all salvageable at this point!

Oxted2018 · 10/09/2018 14:42

Welcome @QuantumGirl

When is AF due @Blondcat? Fingers crossed! And CNizzle - fingers crossed that your body is just messing with you and AF stays away. Am hoping @Melamine and @Noodella have set the scene for BFPs all round :-)

I'm 7dpo today I think so still a bit of a wait for me. I'm really not sure the Ava bracelet was a smart move - it just gives something else to obsess about and has provided another set of dates for AF/FW so I'm not really sure when AF is due now. I have predictions on between this Friday and next Friday :-D

Oxted2018 · 10/09/2018 14:44

The one thing I do like about Ava is they have their own abbreviation for DTD - they use GSD (Get shit done!). That pretty much sums up my monthly approach!!

QuantumGirl · 10/09/2018 15:31

Haha, that's brilliant @Oxted2018 😂. Does AVA tells you the exact day you ovulate? I was contemplating getting one but if it will tell me something I already know then I'd rather save the money. I am seriously considering getting a fertility scan done privately but I'm dragging my heels, I'm worried what they might not find 😧

Blondcat · 10/09/2018 15:58

Right well im officially out, AF back with a vengeance today. Full on cramps. The only way i can describe how i feel at the moment is with the best scottish word - Scunnered. (Im not Scottish but ive lived in Glasgow since i was 18, so honorary scottish i suppose!)
Im annoyed for getting a but swept up in the symptom spotting, annoyed at by body just regusing to cooperate, annoyed at AF, just generally sick of everything. Ive a cheek to be like this, its only been 11 proper cycles of trying, and some people are in far more difficult situations (A bit hormonal eh?!).
I need to brush myself off, focus on getting a few pounds off this week and think about the next month. With a new cycle comes a new hope I suppose.
pulls socks up, and goes to bed with a hot water bottle
Right @blondcat im rooting for you now x

CNizzle · 10/09/2018 18:28

My goodness my spelling is atrocious. Flippin autocorrect. Apologies!

Sash32 · 10/09/2018 18:35

Hi all can I join? I am 32 partner is 35. I am not to familiar with the lingo yet either. I hope you don’t mind me joining I just never felt I kind of fitted in in any other threads so far. And this ttc is such a brain ache I could really do with others to talk too. X

AnitaPage · 10/09/2018 21:46

Hi CNizzle, I think I’ve had a similar month to you, was convinced this was my month, even had spotting (which i never get) that I thought might be implantation bleeding. AF started and I felt like I’d been sucker punched, they keep getting worse and it’s oioe adding insult to injury! I think the hormones are getting worse as I get older.
Want to keep my fingers crossed for this month but also don’t want to be so mental about it all!

BambiOnIce80 · 10/09/2018 22:09

TTC is indeed such a brain ache @Sash32 - Welcome!

@CNizzle, scunnered is one of my favourites, followed by shuggily and paley-walley 😂 Sorry you're feeling so rubbish 😔 Hope the hot water bottle and early night help.x

PixieN · 10/09/2018 22:37

Hi @QuantumGirl and @Sash32

Sorry to hear that @CNizzle - I felt exactly the same when Af was 2 days late this month. Scunnered is a good word!

Good luck @blondcat x

Noodella18 · 11/09/2018 00:06

@cnizzle sorry to hear that 🙁 sounds like you’ve got your game face on though, keep your chin up.

@blondcat good luck in the final couple of days, I admire your willpower! Planning on testing or just seeing what happens?

@oxted was quite intrigued about the Ava. Is it comfy? Do you think it’s worth it overall for the data you get?

@melamine hey there bfp buddy... hanging in there? I did another test too a few days after the blazing strong line, and freaked myself out a bit because it was no darker/ a bit lighter. Trying not to fret but it’s hard, can imagine it’s far worse for you given your previous mc though. Hope you’re doing ok!

Melamine · 11/09/2018 09:18

Rooting for you @blondcat, gutted for you @cnizzle and welcome to you @sash32.

@noodella18 I’m sitting on my hands, not done any more. Fretting (obviously) as symptoms have disappeared. The only symptom I had being twinges & light cramps but I just feel normal currently. Obviously as long as I’m not bleeding or spotting I’ll try to remain positive & I hope you can too.

Whyyyyy is this whole thing not the beautiful and breezy creation of life I always thought it was 🙄😂

Kescilly · 11/09/2018 11:56

Sorry to hear about AF, CNizzle.

Can I ask you guys some questions? I don’t have anyone else to ask!

  1. Is anyone taking supplements beyond a standard multivitamin or folic acid? I keep reading about all these things other people are taking and I’m wondering if I’m missing out. I don’t want to go crazy either, and take things that aren’t evidence based.
  1. I’ve been using the CBFM for a few months now and am not sure what days are best for sex. The monitor gives low (L), high (H), or peak (P) readings. Typically the days around my FW go something like LHHPPHL or LHHHPPHL.

I’ve read that it’s best to have sex every other day, but I’d only be hitting three of my fertile days according to the monitor, plus by the second P and last H I could have actually missed ovulation. If you had these readings, what days would you be aiming for?

I wish I could ditch the monitor but my cycles have gotten irregular and I don’t think we could keep going every other day throughout my entire cycle.

Noodella18 · 11/09/2018 12:54

@kescilly I was using the pregnacare conception vitamins and had partner on the male equivalent, was also using CoenzymeQ10 cause I heard it was good for egg quality, and slipped a whole load of maca root powder into partner's cakes because it has a bit of science to show that it improves sperm quality. Couldn't be bothered to get too drawn into all of the nitty gritty and this seemed a pragmatic approach.

I know a lot of people try to follow the Sperm Meet Egg plan which you can Google. We did so loosely last month and happily got a BFP at 10dpo. Loosely you're supposed to have sex every other day from day 7 of your cycle, and three days in a row from the first day you get a peak, then skip a day and then once more for luck. We definitely could not keep up with all that shagging! So I think we shagged every other day from about day 10 and then both days I had EWCM, the second day of which I had my peak on. I think that was 4 times total during FW.

Melamine · 11/09/2018 14:48

I was also taking q10 (the lowest dose from boots) plus evening primrose & starflower oil (meant to be good for EWCM) and also Holland & Barrett flaxseed oil for non fishy omegas. All cheap & harmless to try. We did it 5 days before & morning after getting peak on CBAdvanced. No idea which of those caught it. Also used Preseed!

Noodella18 · 11/09/2018 15:03

Oh yeah, good point @melamine, we used some knockoff preseed too, Tesco fertility gel.

Kescilly · 11/09/2018 17:06

Thanks @Noodella18 and @Melamine. Sounds like CoQ10 might be worth adding in. I don't have any issues with EWCM (I think) so didn't think it would be worth using Preseed. I have looked at Sperm Meets Egg but I don't think we could keep up with that either! I think it's a lot of pressure on my other half and don't want to tire him out.

QuantumGirl · 11/09/2018 17:17

I'm so frustrated today. I spent last week baby dancing as much as me and DH could until Friday just for Flo and Ovia to change their minds and tell me that I'm still on my FW 😠. Why, why at this day and age can't we know when the exact moment of ovulation is? I'm seriously considering going for the turkey baser conception procedure just to avoid this uncertainty, it's not fair on any of us 😤🤐

Kescilly · 11/09/2018 17:33

How frustrating! I don't think apps like that really know anything. Have you tried ovulation tests? I only use apps to mark information down, not as a useful predictor.

Blondcat · 11/09/2018 17:41

Thank you ladies I am trying not to symptom spot or get my hopes up to much. Not going to test until late as less disappointment when af shows than a bfn for me anyway.

@cnizzle sorry af got you fx for next month.

I take coq10 as well as folic acid and vit d. I also have started daily zinc (was on a couple of times a week until got thrush last month and when I had issues before that seemed to help). Dh takes coq10 and zinc daily too.

I have bought some preseed but do get ewcm so only really using as normal lube when needed to assist at mo.

Welcome @sesh32
