Twiga, I'd just moved back to Aberdeen when I found out I was expecting DS1 and it was all a bit of a shock. However, I have to say that I was blessed with a fantastic community midwife who was very black and white - definitely no grey areas where she was concerned. She did seem to be slightly obsessed with baby's size however and spent the best part of my pregnancy telling me he wouldn't be any bigger than 6lb and he was 8lb 6! Unlike some other regions in the UK, they seem to put a lot of focus on weight gain whereas I know of some Mums who were never even weighed in other parts of the UK. Apart from that, I have to say that I was really impressed with the care but I didn't have anything else to compare it to. Also, I didn't spend long in the main maternity hospital as I went to one of the cottage hospitals for most of my time in hospital. Sadly, they have now closed a few of them as I would thoroughly recommend them if you get the opportunity.

Fonzie, sounds like it's not bad up here then. I'm hoping that when we concieve this time I can push for an early scan as my last/first pregnancy ended in mc. Did you use the midwife unit at ARI or the maternity ward?

I'm wondering if someone can help me.

My periods are very irregular so I can never tell what day they are due.

However this month I KNOW I ovulated on day 17. Can I expect from this that seeing as a normal cycle is 28 day's and ovulation is about day 12 that my cycle will be 33 days???

If this is the case I can test on Sunday/Monday!!!!

That obsessive streak is rearing it's head again I think!!!

sweetheart, the luteal phase (time after ovulation and before AF) is usually about 12-14 days so if you Oed on CD17 then you could expect AF around CD29-31. You could have a longer luteal phase, they can be something like 10-16 days, but 12-14 is average. Hope that helps!

Sweetheart, I don't know for sure; I'm sure other MNs will have the definitive answer. It seems logical to me that you should be able to test around two weeks after ovulation, since that is how long it takes most women to build up sufficient HCG. In other words, not necessarily related to when your period comes per se. But I may be completely wrong. Could somebody please finish their breakfast and come and help us out!

tex, you've thrown me into a tissey!!!!

I've got butterfly's in my stomach thinking I could test today and it could be positive!!!

I've been feeling a bit odd recently - really tired - but have been ignoring it and putting it down to toher things. I had a archers and lemonade with a ciggie last night and I felt like I wanted to throw up after it!!

Oooohhh, dunno wrther to test or just be brave and stick it out a few more days!!!

Just looked at the calender. I O'd on days 17 and 18. Bd on day 17.

I'm now CD28 so it's only 10 days really. I think I'm gonna be brave and wait a couple more days - the test's are soooo expensive to waste.

Well that's easy for me to say while the tests are at home and I'm stuck at work!! Tonight it may be a different story

Congratulations to anyone that I have missed.

Does anyone know how many DPO that you can do a pregnancy test. I am on day 20 of my monthly cycle, so probably only 8ish days past ovulation.

I too don't want to waste expensive taste, although I did get buy one get one free from Savers and the test was only 99p

Hi all ... did a pg test this morning and got the usual bfn ... don't think this thread will be lucky for me, but luck to the rest of you. ANd I've lost another pound, so that's 1st 1lb I have lost in just over 3 weeks! Thank goodness for GIllian McKeith's 'You are what you eat' !

Hi Pamina3, it's difficult isn't it? I was convinced my bloated feelings and sore boobs were a good sign before this AF and really wanted to be pg rather than go through AF and wait another month. The bottom line is I just don't know but after mc your hormones will be all over the place and I guess the norm is variable at this point. I guess just hang on in there and hopefully things will become clearer soon, big hugs to you x. Anyone else got any ideas?

Sweetheart - be wimpy like the rest of us, test today !

Thanks Sweetheart ((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))) I stupidly did one yesterday and it was a BFP, but then it would wouldn't it, I mean that's only 6 DPO, talk about having a mental moment.

Big hugs cobweb, don't worry about asking questions which may have been asked before - I think and I'm not 100% that you can test from about three days before AF due(depending which brand), but may still get a BFN then a BFP a few days later so nothings certain until just after AF due - but remember a BFP is always a BFP! Am i right in thinking that this is your first month of trying since mc and AF following that? Hope this is your month and as sweetheart says we're all here for you x.
