But congrats to all the lucky ladeis on thread 8 but a big hugh congrats to Azure!! Your advise was great.

This month ladies will be mine I have a feeling, and boy my poor dh won't know what's hit him, this is going to be it I just know..........

lots of baby dust!!

Cyndii · 18/08/2004 16:17

Twiga thank you for your link, I've just ordered 40 tests ~ boy I'm going to have fun testing with those!! I won't surprise myself if use the lot really quickly, I just wish I knew to get the pack of 40 last April/May!! Small fortune spent since I've started!!

Here in Ireland 2 first response is approx. E16 for two, so a pack of 40 will be great fun!!

Thanks

Twiga · 18/08/2004 17:20

Hey everyone, hope the day is going well . Big hello to cobweb, hope you're feeling better about things, glad you've come across too.
Runtus i know what you mean with the whole articles and Boots thing, as much as I'm trying not to be optimistic (just can't hack the inevitable disappointment) - I've picked up yet another baby mag and ordered the "mum's on pregnancy" book from mn, to give me my fix while i'm working on things - not sure why I do it to myself as it often depresses more than it cheers at the minute. Don't test, just enjoy your holiday - Egypt you lucky thing ! Why not order some tests from Medisave or somewhere similar that way they'll be waiting for your return and you can test when you get back? Can someone more competent paste in the link on this thread for me (confession - dh did it last time, don't want him to keep seeing my daft posts, it's a source of amusement!)?

Fonzie I'm up North too, none stop gloom here - Aberdeen had it's summer for all of 24hrs back in June me thinks!!!

Pamina3 so sorry about your mc , my cycle is usually 28-30 days and was 33 this time following my mc. Like you I've also taken the whole tcc for granted it only took us two months, now I'm hoping it'll not be long again this time, but nothing's for certain I guess. I really hoped I'd fallen pg straightaway as well, what I would say is that in some ways I'm glad I didn't and I've now had a proper AF, as it's reassuring to know that body is working properly and that I can date accuratly if i concieve this month - it's not easy though and folk on here have been great - keep posting we'll all help as much as we can - hope it works out for you !

Cyndi glad the Medisave thing has been helpful - it's criminal how much tests cost, especially for us impatient ones who test every 6secs the minute AF overdue .

Thanks again to everyone for being so lovely. I've only really got one friend, apart from dh, who has been open to talking about mc etc - she's been ace! - I think the rest are finding it difficult and haven't ever bought it up and always change topic quickly if I do - so nice to just be able to vent. Sorry this has been so long!

nannyjayne · 18/08/2004 17:45

Hi everyone, can someone tell me if it is ok to take metformin whilst you ate trying and if you are pregnant. I had conflicting advice from my ivf team and my gyne so i came off it as i was confused. I have now stopped losing weight and have gained 4lbs but have been very stressed having just had a failed ivf. Please help should i go back on it. My next ivf should start in 2-3 weeks

beachyhead · 18/08/2004 18:08

can I join in although I haven't posted on the ttc thread before and I don't know all the abbreviations. Had two m/c's in Oct and March and have been tentatively trying since. I have dd and ds, so this is my last chance babe. Well last LMP was 24th July, so expecting this weekend BUT have not had moaning back ache and also felt like chocolate after my supper last weekend, so am quite hopeful. When could I test? and fingers crossed for me?

logic · 18/08/2004 18:11

Hi Tania2, I have been coping by spending a fortune on pg tests (thankyou Medisave :-) and by getting depressed a lot.

Did a test last week and got a bfn so it's not looking too hopeful. Obviously, I'm currently doing the "must have tested too early - could still be pregnant" hopeful routine

tex111 · 18/08/2004 18:37

Runtus, hope you have a great holiday. Egypt sounds wonderful! Soooo jealous! Now if you find out you're pregnant in Egypt will you name the baby Tut?? Or how about Nefertiti if it's a girl? Titi for short, of course. Fingers crossed for you.

Pamina3, my cycle was about a week longer after m/c so it could just be too early for a BFP. The first AF was fine but I'm going through the second one now and it's tough. Very crampy and really heavy. Hopefully you won't be experiencing any of that though.

Twiga, sorry you've been a bit down. It is tough being around friends with babies sometimes, even the second time around. I remember with DS almost every time I got a BFN I went out and bought another book on pregnancy or how to get pregnant or caring for a baby. I've got a great library of books now! Still reference them all the time so at least it's a useful splurge and when you get that BFP you'll be all prepared.

Nannyjayne, I'm afraid I don't know anything about Metformin but BeckiF is taking it and I'm sure she'll be able to help.

By the way, congrats BeckiF on getting up to your dosage. I know that was tough.

Still nothing going on here just waiting for Saturday so I can start with the OPKs. Ho hum.

ebbie22 · 18/08/2004 18:56

Hi to you all, seeing as though you all feel lucky this month,is it ok if i join you all too?I could do with some babydust this month xxx

logic · 18/08/2004 19:33

Welcome Beachyhead.
Fingers crossed for you!

It sounds like you can test asap!
You must have the patience of a saint to actually wait a whole month though...I buy pg tests in bulk

beachyhead · 18/08/2004 19:38

Not patience of a saint - just a few nerves. Will be dreading m/c until about 14 weeks, then from 20 weeks will be pre-eclampsia watch as have been known to deliver at 31 weeks.... so trying to be cool about it, but also secretly excited..... Also, really want next summer off work, so am trying my hardest for the next couple of months..

mrsflowerpot · 18/08/2004 20:00

Hi everyone, I'm in for this new thread too! CD10 today, ttc number 2 (ds is 3.5) for 20 looong cycles now. However, off for a dirty weekend tomorrow, so we shall see...

Fantastic news Azure, if you're still looking in at all. Good luck to all of us on this new one, hope it's as fruitful as the last!

Morgan · 18/08/2004 20:15

Will join this thread too ! Been ttc no 2 for two years. I am seeing the cons on Monday to start clomid and follicle tracking so quite excited esp as not pg this Month as no bd as dh recovering from an op. Would be grateful for any advice/tips on this treatment from anyone who has gone through it.

Huge good luck to all.

Canadianmom · 18/08/2004 20:24

beachyhead,
have you read Lesley Reagan's book called Miscarriage: What every woman needs to know?

Canadianmom · 18/08/2004 20:29

Sorry! I didn't mean to post before saying hello to all the new and returning ttcers. Best of luck to all of you especially BeckiF (since this is your thread). Liberal sprinkling of baby dust for all of you: +++++++++*+ We are holding off on results of tests. I have appt with gynnie on the 29th to discuss the test results from the last miscarriage. Perhaps next month.

bluestar · 18/08/2004 20:52

Blimey this board has gone mad over the last couple of days!! Where did all the newbies spring from?? Welcome to everyone .

Mirage · 18/08/2004 21:18

Hi everyone-there sure are a lot of us on here at the minute.

I am ttc baby no.2 & threw my pills away a few weeks back.I'm now on CD20 & hoping like crazy that August is my month-DD is 1 on the 29th & af is due on the 26th.

I am trying to be optomistic,as it took 3.5 years to concieve DD & I lost a baby due to an ectopic 7 wks beforeI got pregnant with her.My body is bizarre-three & a half years of nothing, then 2 pregnancies in 7 weeks.I'm hanging on to the hope that having DD has righted whatever problems I was having before & that I have a 'normal' reproductive system now.

Lots of luck & babydust to everyone.

katierocket · 19/08/2004 08:24

so fed up today, not sure why. So desperate to be pregnant. Bloody AF pains reminding me that I'm not

welcome to all newbies

sweetheart · 19/08/2004 08:35

Another newbie to this thread - hope I'm not jumping on the band wagon!!!

I have a dd (4) and am ttc No2. We have been ttc for 8 months with no luck. My SIL and Best friend are both about 1 month pregnant so I'm hoping that the old saying "everything happens in 3's" will ring true for me.

If not I have a gyne appointment at the end of Sept to see a gyne and be tested for pcos.

My AF is due sometime between this sat and next sat (always very irregular) so fingers crossed!!!!

Azure · 19/08/2004 08:38

Wow, so many newbies. Best of luck to everyone here.

sweetheart · 19/08/2004 08:58

Having read everyone else's posts I guess I should add I'm on CD27 (which I'm guessing cd means cycle day!?!?!?!)
Think I ov around day 17 - can anyone tell from this what day I should expect to come on???

Since starting ttc my cycles have been:-
Mth 1 - 38 days
Mth 2 - 29 days
Mth 3 - 42 days
Mth 4 - 25 days
Mth 5 - 37 days
Mth 6 - 34 days
Mth 7 currently on day 27

hester · 19/08/2004 09:27

CD25 and AF came today. Am feeling very, very low . Fancy a glass of wine and a good moan, katierocket?

A couple of questions: my cycle has got shorter and shorter over the last 2-3 years. Does anyone know if this is a symptom of peri-menopause? (I'm 40.)

Over the last few months I've felt increasingly despairing that I will get lucky. I've decided that I'll definitely stop trying when I hit 41, but tbh in my heart of hearts I just don't believe anymore that it can happen for me. Do others think that a positive mental attitude is important to success? Or is Mother Nature far too indifferent to our feelings to make that a factor?

Bibi20 · 19/08/2004 09:43

Hello to all the newbies (didn't think I'd be saying that but realise I've been posting for a couple of months - ttc since Xmas 03) can't believe how many messages this thread's got already! Lots of babydust to you all!

Sweetheart, as I understand it the consistent element of each cycle is the number of days from ovulation to getting your period (the luteal phase or LP), so with your irregular cycles it's v unlikely that you always ov on day 17. (saying that I'm not 100% sure that this is the same for pcos as I think in some cases it's possible that ov doesn't happen every month)

Have you tried recording your waking temperature (see link further down thread for fertility friend) this is the only sure way for most people to know if they've ovulated - I did it for 3 months to find out more about my cycle as I wasn't sure when I was ovulating (had thought it was always day 14 regardless of length of cycle - so many wasted months!!)

I think I can now read the signs so know when I'm ovulating without needing to take my temperature every day (plus know that I have a 12 day LP so with cycles from 27 to 37 days, need to keep busy from day 15 to day 25!).

Good luck with trying and hope you don't need that appointment!

sweetheart · 19/08/2004 10:00

Hester, I personally think a PMA is VERY important - you need to feel happy and healthy within yourself so your in your prime to concieve!!!

Bibi, I did try doing the temperature thing but I found it quite stressful haveing to remember it when I woke up. I was always falling back to sleep with the thermometer in my mouth etc etc Anyway my dh is against trying "to hard" he thinks things should happen naturally!!!

Thats probably why it's taken us so long - he's only just allowed ovulation sticks without moaning!!!
