Short cycles I have an annoying cycle that is 27 days but always starts at night. I have to do a 4am loo dash. This week I was gutted as I really thought this was going to be our month of BFP! I'm in Turkey at the mo which made it even worse. Attempting to be happy but wanting to eat Bounty's and cry into a pillow!!

roseandtime · 23/08/2017 15:48

Hey, can I jump on?!
TTC #2
Age: 32
Cycle: 2

Brief background: conceived our first (DD) at our wedding, after tracking temp for a few months and working out that the wedding fell over ovulation. Thought we may as well start and bam, got incredibly lucky on our first go. I didn't even have to have one month of sadly getting a period. DD is now 18m and we've decided now is an okay time to begin trying (fucking hell babies make it tough!) and part of me thought we might get stupidly lucky, again. Of course not... Had my first experience of waiting on dreaded AF and getting it. It sucks, I do not know how you ladies who've been trying for a while manage it, kudos to you. It's as tough as hell. So maybe I'm jumping aboard early, but I want to make a good shot at trying.

Trouble is I've forgotten all the info about cycles etc, and my cycle is still messed up (still bfing my DD). Used to have regular 29 day cycles, now they vary between 32 and 22 days. Maybe this means I'm not even fertile yet. Who knows.

So what apps does everyone recommend? I used to use a paper chart but the fuck will I have the chance to do that this time around! I should be taking temp ACH morning before getting up, noting cm, and general feelings, right?! Feeling useless...

Fia256 · 23/08/2017 16:14

Welcome @roseandtime

Definitely suggest the fertility friend app. A lot of people on here use it and I've found it great so far. You should also get a months free trial of the VIP too (mines just come to an end so decided to tempt fate and buy 3 months worth) you don't have to pay for the extras though!

Also recommend temping and ovulation tests esp if you cycles are up and down like you've said!

Good luck! Your similar to me, first two conceived without a problem, didn't realise the ins and outs to ttc. Cycle 2 for me too xx

roseandtime · 23/08/2017 16:23

Thanks Fia, will try that one! Have never done ovulation tests - can I just use the cheapie Amazon paper sticks and pee on them around the time I think I'm ovulating?! That's the basic jist, right?

Fia256 · 23/08/2017 16:32

I had never used them before ttc this time either. Amazon do great cheap ones something like 30 for £4 or around that. They can be tricky to read though as usually always have two lines (did in my case) but the second line has to be as dark or darker than the control line.
What I did this month was buy both the cheap ones and clear blue ones. Used the clear blue when I thought I'd got a positive on the cheapies so that if it doesn't happen this month, I'll know what I'm looking for next month

Hope that makes sense Grin

roseandtime · 23/08/2017 17:30

Ha, yes, thank you!! Will get some of those and see if they marry up with my temp readings. I feel like we spent so long discussing when would be the 'best' time to get pregnant age, regarding age gap and maturity of our DD, and then when it comes to it, it'll just happen when it happens (if it happens!) and that's just that. I need to get back some control over it, so having something to pee on and track will be a huge help 😂

juneybean · 23/08/2017 18:08

I'm a very tempted to stop temping now and wait and see what happens for the rest of the two week wait.

pixielove123 · 23/08/2017 18:12

@juneybean really?? How come?
Sure we are on the same CD. I'm on CD20. I've only just started temping. Find it such a mission tbh.

ladydolly · 23/08/2017 19:09

Hi All,

Jumping on board from the August bus as AF arrived this afternoon.

Age 38 (ooooold eggs)
TTC #2
Cycle 5
CD1

Conceived DC1 pretty quick, had a chemical before getting pg with her and also had one on cycle 2 this time. BFP due 20th Sept. Have contacted an acupuncturist, never tried it before but heard good things. I use ovuview which is free and you can record everything, OPKs, temps, CM, cervical position, breast pain are the ones I do.

So good luck to us all!!

juneybean · 23/08/2017 19:46

I just think that I analyse every temperature and I should just use it to track ovulation haha see if being laid-back helps!

roseandtime · 23/08/2017 20:07

Ooh, welcome LadyDolly, and would love to know how the acupuncture goes!

NimbleKnitter · 23/08/2017 20:11

@juneybean anything that distracts has to be good.

I was temping before trying to conceive, as a way of managing my poxy migraines, but nothing to be gained from doing it during luteal phase and you'll get more sleep!

juneybean · 23/08/2017 20:13

So true nimble. Sorry you're a sufferer of migraines too.

Bfp due 8th September

Nervous traveller Confused x x

pixielove123 · 24/08/2017 06:14

My temp dropped below my cover line this morning. Sad that's bad news right?

juneybean · 24/08/2017 07:17

How many dpo are you pixie?

Welcome banana X

pixielove123 · 24/08/2017 07:23

5dpo

passmethewine123 · 24/08/2017 07:27

@pixielove123 it's early days so I wouldn't be concerned, it will probably rise again tomorrow. It's normal for it to fluctuate, there are a lot of outside factor which affect our body temperature and it's normal to get the odd reading here and there which don't fit in with the general trend.

pixielove123 · 24/08/2017 07:51

Thanks @passmethewine123 hopefully it means nothing. Just have to wait to see what happens tomorrow.

Welcome to all the newbies.

loobylou124 · 24/08/2017 08:49

Bleurgh, these opks are hacking me off now. Has anyone else had problems getting a positive on them? According to the way I'm feeling today and past history, I should have ovulated yesterday or today, but opks are still as pale as they've been all week. I'll use the last couple in the box just to see it through but am currently not feeling the opk love at all. I'd hoped they would reassure me that everything is happening as it should post-pill but thinking now that I should prob just wing it if the technology is letting me down. Meh.

DoAsDreamersDo · 24/08/2017 08:51

I've just started temping this month. I have no idea what it means but I'm recording my results in my apps to see if it can pinpoint when I ovulate (as I'm not 100% sure).

juneybean · 24/08/2017 08:58

Pixie either a fallback rise (which is frequently seen in pregnancy charts) or an implantation dip!! Don't fret!

As for me, my temperature is bizarre this month, usually the first few days after ovulation my temp is up and down but today 5dpo it's still really high. www.fertilityfriend.com/home/jefnerf

doasdreamersdo feel free to share your chart and we can help you understand it haha

loobylou I never get a full positive (usually because I give up on them...) but I still ovulate. are you using the cheapies?

OP posts:
NimbleKnitter · 24/08/2017 08:59

@loobylou124 I feel you pain.

It's why I switched to the dual hormone clear blue monitor, as I'd never managed a positive test for LH surge. I think it might be because the dual hormone tests first morning urine, whereas the LH tests are better if you use them during the day.

Go figure, as soon as I shell out for it, I get a positive LH surge.

Try temping. I've found it eye opening this things I've discovered about my cycle and I'll continue to use it once I move on from trying to conceive

pixielove123 · 24/08/2017 09:06

Thanks @juneybean just checked and I'm 6dpo ... mine was also high 5dpo.

I think your temp going up and up is a good sign @juneybean if I look on Google most pregnant charts the temps get higher and higher and stay high!

This scrutinizing of the ups and downs of temp makes my emotions just as erratic. Wish there was a tried and trusted formula!

NimbleKnitter · 24/08/2017 09:14

Looking good @juneybean - the sort of warm, inviting progesterone filled hotel a passing embryo would like to check into for the winter.
