Good afternoon ladies - how are you all doing today?

I am feeling very shaken about the events of Manchester and having moments of questioning whether I really want to bring a child into this world! I am finally on CD 24 starting to get slightly darker opks but not positive yet! I have achy ovaries though so I am hoping it won't be long.

weasledee · 23/05/2017 12:29

Totally agree shred, I live in the northwest and have been the MEN arena many times.
So upsetting :(

Sarah2209 · 23/05/2017 19:52

Hi Shred and Weasledee this is a frightening world right now isn't it.... and it does make you wonder... but we can't let them win! Such a sad, sad time Sad

Sarah2209 · 23/05/2017 20:09

Hi littlemimosa, thanks for your message. Long explanation coming.... Clomid nudges your pituitary gland so it over-stimulates the ovaries (if it works). You take it says 2-5 of your cycle and then I'll be scanned on day 12 to see if my follicles are opening and then they do a blood test after you should have ovulated to make sure you did. The over-stimulation causes you to release 2/3 eggs in one go rather than just one, and increases your chance of pregnancy. This is a final go for us before going for our one round of ivf, as that's all we can afford. I'll try it for 4/5 months before going for ivf. My Fertility Consultant suggested I try it after several blood tests to test my AMH levels which told them my egg supply was good. They don't offer it if your egg supply is low, especially if your going to go for ivf as you need your good eggs for that. It increases your chances if it works by 40/50%. Slight risk is that multiple births are increased - having twins goes from 1 in 80 to 1 in 10!! Though I'd be delighted if I did get pregnant with twins. So far no side effects but it's only day 1. Side effects can be nausea, dizziness, rashes and abdominal pain. Drs also can prescribe it though if your interested x

Viletta · 23/05/2017 22:09

Hi Ladies, hope everyone is safe! Such sad sad news today!

@Sarah2209 good plan to try clomid for 4-6. Your chances will sky rocket with this and I am sure you'll get your BFP! Remember, one problem at a time, so don't think much about ivf just now and stay calm. Yoga and meditation helps as well as having another project to concentrate on!

I've just seen a gp, so far got prescription for blood tests and spermiogram for DH (oh god is he nervous!). These activities will keep me busy while waiting for af that hopefully won't show up!

@Jords0105 how are you doing?

Viletta · 23/05/2017 22:10

Also GP asked DH to give up smoking and drinking.. not going to be easy especially with smoking

littlemimosa · 23/05/2017 23:19

Such a sad sad day. To target innocent children and young people who are nothing to do with 'this war' is unbelievable. Those poor poor parents.

Sarah-thanks for that great explanation. At this stage I'm not thinking about it but it's good to know it's there as an option. Let's hope this is your time. Lord knows you deserve it. Fingers firmly crossed for you hunni.

Hi Viletta-hate to say it but giving up smoking and drinking has got to surely be a no-brainer? I think it was you who said your DP has issues with sperm count?

Melodypond17 · 23/05/2017 23:19

Hi Sarah
Can I be nosy and ask how old you are?
I'm 43 - had 2 children in my early 20s but struggling to get that bfp with my new husband! :(
Fingers crossed it works for you x

Sarah2209 · 24/05/2017 08:43

Thanks Viletta and littlemimosa - nice to see you again Viletta. My hubby gave up drinking and caffeine bless him - he loves his coffee! He luckily gave up smoking after his head injury - but it all helped his sperm massively! And exercise too...

Hi Melodypond - I don’t mind you being nosy - we all talk about CM and stuff so my age is not a problem to give Grin - 43 - 44 this September. Might be worth exploring Clomid?

Melodypond17 · 24/05/2017 13:10

Thanks Sarah
Going to give it one more try this month and then if it doesn't work, go to the doctors next month x

Jords0105 · 24/05/2017 13:59

Hi everyone. Viletta I'm just doing the normal, testing way before I'm meant to making lines up I know aren't there😂 Af isn't due for another 7 days I just can't help it though!! I don't have a good feeling about this month though. Can't wait for us to all start testing its my favorite time of the month lol!!

Viletta · 24/05/2017 16:25

@Jords0105 nice to hear you are all positive! FX for this month! My af is due 3 June.

The other day my DH was having decaf coffee in the morning followed by alcohol free bear and 0 nicotine vape GrinGrinGrin sacrifices!

lisara79 · 24/05/2017 22:22

Hey All.... valetta... I don't think I'll ever get dh to give up smoking (or drinking for that matter).... I know it's a problem but he just won't cope with it... I gave up smoking and drinking and have reduced coffee x

OP posts:
Viletta · 25/05/2017 08:13

I gave up smoking long time ago. Surprisingly it seems to be more damaging than alcohol. Will send DH for spermiogram next week.. can't wait to find out 💦🔬👀

Viletta · 25/05/2017 08:14

@lisara79 well he said to the doctor he will give up.. but in the reality nothing is happening so far..

Shredtheevidence · 25/05/2017 10:02

Finally on CD26 have a positive opk. DTD LAST night but need to ounce on DH again tonight and possibly tomorrow too if he has the stamina!!

katiegd · 25/05/2017 19:49

Can I join? Need to join others in the same position as no other friends or family currently are and so don't really get it. I get a lot of 'just relax and it'll happen' which I'm sure is good advice but practically impossible to actually do.

I'm 32 and first time TTC. Been trying on and off for about 18 months (although due to DH health issues last year the number of cycles trying is less than that).

Just started properly tracking ovulation and managed to actually pinpoint it for the first time, so know that I'm 6 DPO and that we tried at the right time. Trying not to get my hopes up too much though.

@Viletta @lisara79 I'm in the same boat with DH drinking and smoking. Haven't been trying for the equivalent of a year yet, so haven't been to GP (we've decided we'll go in September) but if it gets to that stage I know it's the first thing they'll say!

lisara79 · 25/05/2017 20:24

welcome @katiedg!! Hopefully your DH will see sense when doctor explains real impact although, fingers crossed, you won't have to wait that long! I'm 10dpo but won't test until middle of next week when AF is due... I'm 37 and been trying properly for 4 months... we only have to try for 6 months before going to docs due to age but, as we won't be entitled to any free treatment, a little loathed to think about it as not sure can privately fund too much... ah well, crossing my fingers for natural pregnancy soon! I have spoken to my doctor about ttc and mentioned my concerns about DH and she said not to worry too much...

OP posts:
Viletta · 25/05/2017 22:35

@katiegd welcome! Similar to my story, I'm 31,
Ttc 1
Tried properly for 6 months and naturally without calculating ovulation for over a year. Girls here suggested to go see a GP and he sent us for tests straight away. Having a plan calms me down a lot. Although I hope it'll happen naturally. So technically you've been trying long enough to start having tests if you want to. I am very keen to find out how good my DH sperm is!

lisara79 · 25/05/2017 23:20

so... despite unusual and isolated symptoms every cycle... I'm sign spotting again... I'm 10dpo and have just spotted a small drop of orange blood when I wiped... could this be something? I also dreamed I was pregnant last night - weirdest dream ever where my nipples grew massive... lol (had to share!l any thoughts?Confused

Viletta · 26/05/2017 01:28

@lisara79 sounds promising! Good luck! I had tarot cards forecast for myself three times and every time draw pregnancy card out of 78 cards! Better this than early testing 😂 chances are the same! When's your af due?

katiegd · 26/05/2017 06:21

Thanks ladies. Big fingers crossed for you this month. I've also had dreams that I'm pregnant and it's felt so real, then woken up to disappointing reality. I try really hard not to symptom spot but it's so tempting.

Sarah2209 · 26/05/2017 07:47

Welcome Katiegd - my DH has health issues which result in small samples - quality used to be poor too, but he gave up caffeine and drinking (luckily he'd stopped smoking before), moved to eating loads more spinach and kale (lots of zinc in them which is good for sperm) and he started taking Wellman fertility vitamins and his quality improved loads!! So if does work!

Lisara - that could be an implantation bleed! Oh I hope so - Fx for you this cycle x

lisara79 · 26/05/2017 08:04

thanks Sarah and Villetta... fingers crossed.... I'm due AF on Tuesday and will probably wait until then... I'm off on holiday to Cornwall today so hoping to be distracted.... I have a pack of tarot cards @Villetta... I might try that rather than wasting money! lol

Shredtheevidence · 26/05/2017 08:07

Well that didn't go to plan. We have not successfully managed to DTD either last night or this morning. Will have to hope and pray that the swimmers from Wednesday night are staying positive in there!
