How did your appointment go today holzy?

Barsons83 · 29/03/2017 23:05

Thanks for the info ladies. I had a scan on CD 16 and they said it had turned into a cyst. Am on day 29 and feel really bloated and like af is about to start

DH got baby bombed tonight so we are now officially the only one of both groups of our friends without child. I hate how this infertility is making me bitter

SummerHopin · 30/03/2017 10:14

Hi Barsons, I totally understand. I hate feeling so bitter about others' good news, but it just can be so hurtful. The feelings are natural, so dont beat yourself up about it too much. Flowers

Do you mind me asking - did they say why or how it turns into a cyst? Could you feel it? The last time I thought I may have ovulated the pain was horrendous and I wondered if that was because it was a cyst forming - I've heard that the sever sharp pain can be that of a cyst.

.....or I might be talking utter B8llucks!

Barsons83 · 30/03/2017 10:49

Thanks Summer. We've now been ttc 2 years so think that's adding to the frustration.

They didn't say. I had no signs that was about to happen but this is the only month I didn't take metformin and I ate rubbish on holiday so maybe it was that. I also didn't get a positive opk this month.

Did you get one?

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/03/2017 11:36

Sorry about the baby bomb and cyst barson Sad hugs

I think I'm officially in the 2WW. Pretty sure I ovulated Tuesday and yesterday. Test day is Monday 17th, after Easter so I can enjoy the weekend with family and make sure I've got to 5weeks with less risk of another early miscarriage.

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/03/2017 11:37

Or* not and!

danigrace · 30/03/2017 11:42

Fingers crossed tight for you Boggle

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/03/2017 11:55

Dani!

How are you and baby? Got any piccys??

SummerHopin · 30/03/2017 11:58

Barsons I dont do OPKs as a rule - and the nurse we saw said that she tells her PCOS patients not to bother as the false positives can mean excess stress plus you might time your DTD at the wrong time. Last week I thought I would do one and got an almost positive, which was either a come down from just after ovulation or was a falsy. At the time I thought it might have been the lead up to ovulation but AF came too soon after so it couldnt have been.

Interesting about the metformin, do you have a specific diet or just try to be good generally? I really need to eat better this cycle as its my first on clomid and I want to give it a really good shot!

So are you on CD29 of a clomid cycle? At least if AF does come you can start again right? (Sorry I cant remember where you are with your treatment - and have a habit of asking lots of questions).

holzyb20 · 30/03/2017 12:02

Hiya everyone I was pretty shocked at my appointment actually I have been refused clomid or anything until I lose weight, bmi is 30 :/ but I have been losing weight which they can see. I was utterly shocked at the way she treated me and spoke to me! Iv decided I'm going to try a more natural route. Vitex-Angus cactus, maca root and coq10 x

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/03/2017 12:03

Of your scans I mean, you're not due for a few weeks yet!

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/03/2017 12:05

Sorry you had a shit appointment Holzy, doesn't sound helpful for you at all!! Good luck with the weight loss. I know how hard it is and I'm flagging at the minute.

holzyb20 · 30/03/2017 12:11

What made me more angry I have a friend she's at a different hospital to me her bmi is 40! She has been prescribed clomid? I can't understand it. This woman was rude she said there's nothing I can do for you at the minute have a nice day.... are you joking????

SummerHopin · 30/03/2017 12:14

holzy thats awful. Its terrible how much of a postcode lottery this all is. I thought that the cut off was a BMI of 35 but I'm not sure.

Are you on Metformin or anything at the moment? If not then this might help with your weight loss as it did with mine. It can be prescribed by a GP too.

SLady · 30/03/2017 12:20

Sorry holzy sounds awful. Such a postcode lottery, it really is unfair! I'm not an expert but from the books I've read it seems its not about calorie counting as much but more about what you eat. In fact being hungry is worse and we need to eat regularly. Apparently, need to focus on cutting out sugar and focusing on low GI foods. Might be worth looking into as I don't think the usual diets help people with pcos.

Did your consultant say not to bother with opk's on Clomid too summer ?

holzyb20 · 30/03/2017 12:24

Thanks everyone.

She told me she wasn't going to try metformin as she thinks it works better for "skinny women" she also told me to get a person trainer "because we all go on diets and don't stick to them" honestly she was so rude I was completely shocked!

SummerHopin · 30/03/2017 12:51

Holzy that is bl00dy rude! She sounds like the woman who did my ultrasound and I really wish I had made a complaint about her at the time! Was she a GP or a specialist? Is there any chance you can try to see a different person?

Yes she did Slady. I asked how we would know with ovulation on clomid and she said that the scans will show if it is imminent, if THEY want to be sure they will order bloods, but for us we just have to DTD lots and if we get a BFP then we ovulated!

She was kind, but a little flippant with that comment I thought. Its all very well saying that a BFP means ovulation, but if we dont get a BFP we need to know if its because of no ovulation or something else. Maybe that will come later after a few rounds of clomid? I dont know.

How are you?

holzyb20 · 30/03/2017 13:08

I am just looking into making a complaint about her she made me feel so terrible.I think she was a consultant.

satsoooma · 30/03/2017 13:59

Thanks Amy, got my fingers crossed for you too this cycle.

Summer, the only time I had an annovulatory cycle on clomid, I got ovulation-type pains over quite a long period (a few weeks). I guess that the follicle turned into a cyst that month. Interestingly, it was over Christmas, and so the only month when I was eating really unhealthily. I went back to healthy eating right after and have not had a problem since.

Hi Holzy, sorry to hear that you had such a crap appointment. She sounds really rude and the postcode lottery is just unfair. Do you think you could lose enough weight to get under the threshold? My consultant said that Metformin only works on overweight women and he would never give it to someone with a healthy BMI, so one of them has got the wrong end of the stick there. Was this with a fertility clinic? Is there any way that you can get referred somewhere else, or even just request a second opinion from the same clinic? It seems like pretty unusual advice.

looking4hope · 30/03/2017 13:59

holzy, sorry to hear you had such a shitty appointment. She sounds as bad as the woman who scanned me last week, who made me cry and worry like crazy. You should definitely make a complaint!

Really keeping my fingers and toes crossed for all of you, you really deserve some good news! I'm not TTC, but I'm really cheering for all of you from this corner of London.

I'm in limbo - no AF since late January, can't have tests because of that, not sure what to do now as there's nobody at the clinic I can get in touch with. Still worried sick about my 'unidentified mass' in my uterus, but trying to focus on just being healthy.

I agree with SLady, a 'normal' diet is not the answer for PCOS. From my experience, cutting out sugar, reducing carbs, eating more fruit & veg and doing exercise is what works. Fat, especially in the middle area, is one of the issues, and I'm really working hard to get rid of that. My BMI is 20.2, but it's obvious that my rather big pouch and love handles Grin are 'extra'. The 30 Day Shred videos help a lot.

Hope it's sunny where you all are and you're enjoying some time in the sun today.

satsoooma · 30/03/2017 14:07

As for me, I have had a complete turn around in mood. I am now convinced that I am pregnant. I just decided when I woke up needing a wee in the middle of the night for like the 4th time this week, which never, ever happens. I think I also have been having tingly nipples for quite a while, I just attributed it to the cold, but it is getting much warmer these last few days and the tingling is still there. Mostly, I am excited because AF is due tomorrow, and don't have any of the usual PMS symptoms.

I can't test before the weekend though, as DH and I have a busy couple of days. If I do get a positive, I want to have some time to celebrate. Must keep myself under control for 2 more days.

Someone (GP/hospital/fertility clinic) should be able to prescribe you some Provera to kick start your period Hope.

Glad you're seeming positive Satsooma, I'm also feeling that way today and feel like this is my round... everything is gone perfectly so far!

SummerHopin · 30/03/2017 14:25

Yes Satsooma and Boggle we need a few more BFPs on this thread!

My BMI is 24.1 so I am in healthy range but could be better - but I am on Metformin? Not sure how that fits with the 'no to healthy BMI' opinion of that doctor? Again, just a postcode thing I think.

Am spurred on to eat better after all your comments that a bad diet might have an effect on each cycle. Glad that I've had brown rice and veggies for lunch and not cheeseburger and chips! :)

Barsons83 · 30/03/2017 15:04

Summer from what Satsooma has said, it does like unhealthy eating might stop clomid from working. I was literally eating cake for breakfast and drinking lots of alcohol.

I am CD 30 of round 4 of clomid. Am having lots of cramping so not sure what's happening but hopefully af will come soon. I do have some provera but would prefer to wait it out as long as possible
