Elly, did they give you any measurements of any of these follicles? Cd9 is still kinda early. You might have a growth spurt in the next couple of days? I didn't ever get a scan earlier than cd11. Good luck x

SLady · 23/05/2017 18:06

Thanks elly. See how it goes on Saturday but CD9 is early, there's a chance they could be late developers. I agree seems silly to put you on 50mg for another month if it didn't work the first time! Perhaps it would be better to skip a month or take it anyway and make sure it won't be counted.

holzy good luck!

Elly1685 · 23/05/2017 18:13

Holzy it looks like a faint line - maybe test again tomorrow morning (which probably seems like a lifetime away!)

Thanks for your reply both - yeah i think CD9 is really early especially as i only started taking clomid at the end of the day CD2 so not much time has passed since finishing them.

i hope that Saturday shows something and if not they suggest i take 100mg next time. No they didn't give any measurments - what measurements am I hoping for?

I didn't like to ask too many questions as I don't really know what I'm hoping for or looking for and I didn't want to sound stupid!

DH seems more disappointed than me that there was nothing there :S maybe its because I had in my head that I didn't think it would work this time...!

YouBoggleMyMind · 23/05/2017 18:47

Elly, you're looking for 1 maybe 2 dominant follicles on your ovaries. At cd9 it may just be too early. It'll be apparent on the scan if you've got a dominant follicle cos they look like giant holes! So at my last scan in march, I had 1 dominant follicle at 14mm on cd12. I ovulated about a week later. A dominant follicle will release an egg between 18 - 24mm in size.

Anyone seen @AmyC86 recently?

YouBoggleMyMind · 23/05/2017 18:47

Always ask questions, that's what the doctors and nurses are there for. No question is stupid or silly. Xx

SLady · 24/05/2017 09:38

AF arrived today!! Going to see how it goes but I might even be counting this as CD1. Either way looks like I'll be on Clomid by the end of the week! Woop

sThinking · 24/05/2017 09:53

Hi everyone.

I have PCOS. Since coming off the pill in January I had a couple of vaguely regular cycles (25 and 35 days) but now I have not had a period in almost 60 days. I have started ttc... But I am obviously not ovulating.

Can anyone tell me how long they had to wait until they were referred to a fertility specialist? I am 27 and live in London. I want to induce ovulation... I have seen a couple of different GPs who each say different things.

Thanks!

SLady · 24/05/2017 10:12

Hi thinking to get an nhs referral in most places you have to have been ttc for one year even with pcos as the chances are most people do conceive within a year. I'm not sure if that's the same criteria in London but it certainly was where I am. You usually have to have blood tests, ultrasound and sperm analysis for your partner, BMIs under 30, no previous children, non smokers to then be referred to a fertility clinic under the nhs for treatment. All in all took 5 months for me with waiting times

YouBoggleMyMind · 24/05/2017 10:27

Happy days SLady, good luck with your round of clomid 😊

SLady · 24/05/2017 10:39

Thank you boggle!! X
Usually I'd have a couple of days of spotting first but seems like AF is fully here today without warning. Looks as though I'll start Clomid tomorrow evening!

YouBoggleMyMind · 24/05/2017 10:44

Excellent 😊 then you can get cracking with DTD! Are you being monitored?

sThinking · 24/05/2017 11:14

Thanks SLady. The doc had told me 6 months ttc and then I assume there would be a long wait for future appointments. Do you (or anyone else who can help) think a private or self funded doctor would give the same advice of waiting for up to a year or would they give me clomid or similar sooner? I have a bmi of 21.5, no children, don't smoke etc.

SLady · 24/05/2017 11:47

Woo hoo! No I'm not boggle which is a bit unfortunate as I won't know how things are progressing each month but there's not much I can do about it so no point being too upset i suppose. Just going to try and relax, DTD as much as possible and be thankful I don't have to lie to work about time off.

thinking a private consultant will probably give you the same advice, they are often the same people you'd see via a nhs referral, but there wont be set guidelines they have to follow so if you want to start clomid sooner then you will be able to if you choose to self fund. I would expect you'd have to have all the same tests first though to ensure its the right treatment. The gp can't prescribe Clomid so you'd have to be referred to a consultant at the hospital. Hope that helps

Quick question: possible tmi:

Af appeared last Friday, very bright red every day. Slightly unusual but not too bad. Had a couple of big clots and slowed down, no bleeding yesterday. Just been to the loo wipes and had three globules of grey stuff in browny/pink blood - wtf Ian this? Is this normal? Not had it before

Sorry for tmi but couldn't think of another way to ask

SLady · 24/05/2017 15:09

holly my AF has been the same today which has never happened before...not pleasant! I'm putting it down to the hormone tablets I've just taken. Is this an induced AF? It could also just be a heavier AF than usual, apparently that leads to clots and such

ElizabethCatherine · 24/05/2017 15:15

@sThinking welcome :) We are the same age and I also live in London. My doc told me it was a year of TTC before they accept you in the fertility clinic for NHS. I have been TTC since August but without a period since, my first NHS appointment is June 28th. I however could not wait that long for obvious depression reasons this all brings so yes if you go privately you can be seen much sooner and start treatment right away. I've gone for a couple consults/bloods privately and am waiting until June 20th to see what my results/next step is. Try and get as far as you can with NHS and get a scan to see where things are at x

ElizabethCatherine · 24/05/2017 15:17
