Thanks guys, was really excited to get on here and tell you. Thanks for the tip re. the sweats too Satsooma - the nurse said too about taking it at bedtime, so I'll get ready for that.
SLady In order to be referred I had to have:
- rubella in date (just a blood test if they dont have it on file)
- clamydia swab
- smear within 18 months
- days 2-5 and 21 bloods
- another blood test that was an all round one for various things!
- ultrasound
- SA (but we had this privately as wanted result sooner than we could get on NHS)
These were all GP led tests - apart from SA - so that my referral got to the clinic. These can all be booked freely via GP its just a bit of a logistical nightmare. Our problem was that we never got a list like this at the start, so our referral was rejected for (1) rubella not checked, (2) clamydia swab not done, (3) day 2-5 not present because I hadnt had AF! If you have a ticklist my advice is just get going - get them all done so that they are on file for whenever they are called upon.
As part of our appointment this morning we then needed to have had an AMH blood test (we had this privately), possibly an additional SA (although DH's private one covered lots of criteria and was seen as fine), HyCoSy was recommended (we had this privately but if you havent I think we could have chosen to do clomid first then HyCoSy later on - but you have to stop ttc for a few weeks in order to have HyCoSy so be careful of that). If we werent on Metformin at this point they would have started that, and I dont think they would have given us clomid and Metfomrin at the same time, but then they may have started clomid without Metformin - that seems a bit of a postcode lottery from what I've seen. She also wanted another ultrasound as my one (not sure if you remember from previous thread but it was hell!) wasnt documented - but she did it there and then! Honestly this women was amazing, I was up and on the bed in minutes and she had a good look round before ticking that off the list as she went along.
So if we hadnt have gone private we would now be on the list for AMH, HyCoSy and possibly a more detailed SA if the first SA had been NHS. Its not the end of the world waiting for these and tbh the nurse was so on the ball I expect we would have had those quickly anyway. I just felt that we finally were seeing the benefit of our choice to do these things early.
Should also remember that I am 32 so in a way time is more of the essence for me than someone in their early 20s say. Either way it was a fab consultation! Hope this helps - let me know if you have any other questions.
