Thread 6 already. We are a bunch of ladies who are either

  • humping (TTC)
  • by humping yet (waiting to TTC)
  • humped (preggers)

And everything in between!

We've had 7 BFPs in three months and we love a bit of lucky lube and a squinter on 9DPO - come and join the madness!

TheGrumpySquirrel according to the book, cleaning cat litter tray is grand! But gardening not?!

The book is good but some of the findings are a little short ranging.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 04/04/2017 18:34

Hmm natur that is weird because the risk from soil is to do with a bacteria in cat poo. I have ordered the book! Mainly because it says you can drink 🥂

TheGrumpySquirrel · 04/04/2017 18:35

Buzz I made it to yoga and will be rewarding myself with pizza later! Jealous of you on the sofa though!

penguinsandotters · 04/04/2017 18:40

dancing yes it was my first cycle on clomid. A bit disappointed that it didn't work but on to the second cycle now. Really hope it works!

grumpy what's the risk of cats poo? My DH has been wanting a cat for years and I keep saying no. Now we are seriously considering getting one as a friend's cat is pregnant and she plans to give the kittens away. Thought it might be a good addition to the family whilst waiting for our BFP.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 04/04/2017 18:43

Otters it doesn't mean you can't have a cat - you just need to be extra hygienic with litter tray etc apparently because of a bacteria / illness called toxoplasmosis which would seem like flu to us but harmful for unborn baby. Most people with cats are already immune I think.

DancingUnicorn · 04/04/2017 19:05

I think kittens are slightly more risky, because most adult cats will have been exposed (therefore humans have) whereas kittens haven't been yet. But the risks are still pretty low. And your dh can do the litter tray, which sounds like a good thing generally!! ;)

Thanks for the suggestions for getaway destinations! Fancy some chill time, with a jacuzzi (while I'm allowed) and can practice actually dtd for the first time in ages! (Currently banned!)

buzzmoon · 04/04/2017 19:26

The place I suggested had a hot tub!! Was amazing! dancing

And what's this about drinking?!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 04/04/2017 19:49

Natur posted this before - possibly on a different thread - it's from the Expecting Better book.

Well I'm thoroughly fed up. The cool class was boring stretching. I need to find some non hot vinyasa soon or I'll go mad! I'm actually thinking about just doing it myself at home, I have a mat and know all the sequences. Going to think about it while I angrily eat pizza. Considering a beer but I actually don't feel like it for once

Yes, TheGrumpySquirrel - I saw that on the other thread. Here it's about the gardening advice, but in general I think only a small range of studies have been included in many, or at least some, of the convulsions.

The bit about drinking is definitely true, though...!!!

buzzmoon · 04/04/2017 20:08

Do it grumpy you might even be able to find YouTube classes or something and just do it at home! Stay safe though! Don't really know how but... don't stretch your uterus too much or something 👍🏽 😂

TheGrumpySquirrel · 04/04/2017 20:14

Oh I'm confused. I thought it was you that posted it natur and I nicked the photo! I swear baby brain exists... I'm so forgetful right now

NaturWilde · 04/04/2017 20:17

No...was it HeyJupiter?

Watching Call the Midwife!

HeyJupiter · 04/04/2017 20:35

Hb hope you had a lovely nap this afternoon. I’ve had two this week - can’t beat them. Glad you’re having a fab time.

otters sorry about AF… BUT sounds like you’re heading in the right direction treatment wise so fingers crossed for next month!

penguins has your spotting got any worse?

Dancing Southwold is always gorgeous.. or my absolute favourite is Thorpeness!

Nope, wasn’t me that posted that natur and grumpy :)

Think seven you are testing tomorrow yes?

confusedat23 · 04/04/2017 20:41

Good luck for Seven tomorrow with testing... still got a very good feeling for you this month!!!

I am not sure that book is completely correct... only because of what is one drink?... my one drink might be disaronno on the rocks but Grumpys might be red wind over dinner?... advise from medical backgrounds would never be as vague as that! But if you look on NHS website they do have guidelines for drinking past the 1st trimester

confusedat23 · 04/04/2017 20:43

Also cats are fine as long as careful when cleaning out litter trays... the problem with gardening is that toxicplasmosis is in fox poo and you are very very likely to come across it in your garden.. as well as the obvious other things like tetanus etc etc...

DancingUnicorn · 04/04/2017 20:44

Also highly likely to come across fox poo on my car roof confused. Seems to be their new fave place. (Wish I was joking)

TheGrumpySquirrel · 04/04/2017 20:44

I think the book goes into more detail in the actual chapter confused as the writer is an economist who has used the original data of the (medical) studies to draw her conclusions. My copy is arriving tomorrow so I'll let you know! But yes you need to define 1 drink. Although she does say no vodka shots! I'm interpreting it as a small glass of wine would be fine.

DancingUnicorn · 04/04/2017 20:47

Grumpy she does go into a lot of detail. Also, her conclusions are the worst bit of the book imo, as the whole premise of the book is to empower people to understand the reasons for guidelines and come to their own decisions using that information (which the conclusions kind of defeat the point!) I don't know if there is newer data, as the NHS guidance was recently updated again. :s

confusedat23 · 04/04/2017 21:00

Grumpy As far as i know its 1-2 units a week from 12 weeks onwards... but actually what she says is slightly missleading in that 1 unit is:

  • 1 25ml shot of a 40% spirit
  • 1/2 glass of wine (normally 175ml)

So actually... 1-2 shots of vodka a week or 1 whole glass of wine a week and you are safe according to nhs guidelines...

Dancing how odd they decide to sit on your car? Lol

Seven0fNine · 04/04/2017 21:01

Yes me in the morning. Although I'm not hopeful and Ovia is as confused as I am about my cycles. She's telling me AF will be here tomorrow but I can test in 3 days :S

wilde I'm watching call the midwife too but only just got into it so on season 2 (can't believe I've never watched it!!!)

Lol at the Fox poo dancing... We haven't any foxes here but plenty of cats. Caught one today pissing on my seedlings 😭

This book sounds very interesting. It's similar to all the NHS advice on weight loss. It's all out of date and not right!!

HeyJupiter · 04/04/2017 21:09

Good luck for tomorrow seven! Will be refreshing thread tomorrow morning in hope :)

TheGrumpySquirrel · 04/04/2017 21:14

Yep that's the whole point of the book, that existing guidelines are wrong if you actually use the raw data. Personally I don't think I'll want to have a drink a day, but I'm feeling a bit more relaxed about having more than a sip of something (e.g. Half glass of wine) when I do feel like it.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 04/04/2017 21:15

Seven Ovia has obviously lost it! Best of luck for the morning!!

HbH · 04/04/2017 21:23

Good luck for testing tomo Seven !

Sorry for AF Otters / potential AF penguin (hopefully not)

Ew fox shit on the car dancing !

I've had terrible hayfever the last two days (odd as I don't usually get it abroad or before June) but can actually see pollen swirling in the air... nervous for a summer without antihistamines!!

Lots of inconsistency re. Guidelines it seems. One of my besties lives in France & they can have all the soft cheese/seafood but not tomatoes Hmm and was having half a bottle of red wine a week in third trimester?!

My sis did really well tonight when we were out to dinner.... managed a very pro prosecco switcheroo dance!

NaturWilde · 04/04/2017 21:31

She does go into more details in the book. It's an ok book, but there's nothing particularly new or insightful in there.
