This thread is for anyone trying to conceive... or thinking about doing so through donor IUI or donor IVF. Nothing TMI - feel free to join, we are a lovely group here to support and help keep the cray-cray away!

Kwick is quite right that I haven't used any progesterone so for once I have nothing to say on the subject Wink

Ever Flowers You're bound to have down phases and you need to allow yourself to feel grief and give yourself the space to let it be what it is. Have you received any counselling?

Everhopeful76 · 23/01/2017 22:24

Thanks Shoes - still cant work how to highlight names!!
I am starting bereavement psychotherapy next week, because my daughter died in a hospice and am fortunate that there is good aftercare. Peers who have met online whos baby have had similar diagnoses or still births have not been so lucky with that, so am fortunate there.
Going to give it a go, think the main thing in healing will be another baby, so I just hope I can get there again. Thanks so much
I hated those progesterone pessaries last time, made such a mess ahh

CautionHormone · 23/01/2017 23:17

Ever - I'm so sorry you've not been feeling great, but that's so understandable. Like shoes said, allow yourself time to grieve. You're such a strong lady.
I live in Northampton too - how strange?!

Nothing to add to this conversation because I have not yet experienced the greatness that is pessaries... Hopefully I will one day though! Wink

Also, ever, I'm currently losing weight so I can have the laparoscopy surgery into endo, because my gynaecologist thinks that's what I have. What kind of symptoms did/do you get, if you don't mind me asking? You don't have to answer though lovely if you don't want too. Flowers

witchmountain · 23/01/2017 23:43

Ever so sorry for you loss. Mabel came across as a real character in just the tiny bit you wrote about her on the last thread. It's still early days for such a devastating loss. I hope the opportunity to talk about her and your plans in your bereavement psychotherapy next week is helpful, if possibly also difficult and painful.

HopingForALittleOne · 24/01/2017 00:01

ever lovely to have you back on this thread and so sorry for your loss. Xxx

pickle162 · 24/01/2017 02:13

My consultant said about no longer using cryos-mostly about not screening for zika so they won't risk using them so only use brighton and European sperm bank.
I suspect most clinics will be the same, might be worth working backwards ever and seeing if cryos still have that donor and whether they know which clinics in uk still allow to use them? Or try looking on the website of ur chosen clinic, I'm sure CARE mention about not using cryos
Must be so hard to deal with the loss of little Mabel, so pleased you are offered help via the hospice. Sending lots of love.
Yeh I often think it would be lovely to meet up with someone of you local ladies and then I think arghhh what if in real life we don't get along or we lose that we can tell each other anything and go way into TMI (too much info) because we don't know each Other..... don't want to ruin the amazing network we have-saying that if someone suggested meeting up would be so up for it. Would be lovely when we all have our mini me's to have a little group meet up :) x

Awful dream.... blood everywhere Sad must tell myself " just a dream"

OP posts:
pickle162 · 24/01/2017 07:13

Awe kwick that's horrible you poor thing!!! Dreams can feel so real :( It's not suprising with your scan coming up

Pez82 · 24/01/2017 07:59

Is your scan today kwick?

To answer your question on panty liners, I must have some sort of intolerance to the material and never wear them (apart from a few these days but I'd rather ruin my knickers than end with thrush - tmi I know!)

So I cracked this morning and took a FRER which was a BFN. I'll take another one on Thursday when I'm on 13dpiui. I can tell that if AF is coming it's doing to be the worst (I always get light ones) but at least it will be over the weekend.

On my way to Milton Keynes and the trains into central London that aren't cancelled are absolutely packed. Finally got a seat after having my boobies squashed between people's bags for 20min - good thing they're not tender!

pez sorry about BFN but way to early to test!!!

OP posts:
Pez82 · 24/01/2017 08:45

I thought FRER could pick it up a few days earlier. But good to know I tested early. What day did you get your faint line?

Pez82 · 24/01/2017 08:48

Oh and pickle, forgot to say but I too dream that one day we can all meet up with our little ones Wink

StorkAhoy · 24/01/2017 08:55

Ah Pez thats where I live!! Sorry about the BFN, but lets hope it changes to a BFP!!

I got the worst AF of my life while still taking the pessaries (GROSS!) before I was supposed to test. It was the worst. shudder.

Ever so I live in Milton Keynes, which is only 25mins away from the Care Northampton clinic. And they won't use Cryos due to zika, and the fact that apparently they are a little fast a loose with the family numbers. Care as a clinic are a little prim and proper (though lovely) so if they aren't happy with one small aspect of something they will ban it!
If you want to meet up we can - I split my time between cambridge and MK, but just let me know.

Hi everyone else!

Pez82 · 24/01/2017 09:03

Stork I travel to mk once or twice every week as this is where my team is based (I work for the bid red brand Smile)

Pez82 · 24/01/2017 09:05

Big. Not bid!

StorkAhoy · 24/01/2017 09:53

Ah, I love MK. and the big red brand!

kwick · 24/01/2017 13:10

pez dpiui12... sorry maybe you were not too early after all... did you use FMU?

I like the idea of meeting up with our little ones Grin

Big red brand? Confused

Still not finding much enthusiasm for work - am off to a meeting on Brexit - hope it finishes soon so I can go home and maybe take a nap...

OP posts:
INeedNewShoes · 24/01/2017 13:14

Pez - I think you're only 11dpiui today? Even using an FRER that is very early. The very earliest I've ever had a positive line is on the evening of 12dpiui and it has been very faint.

Good plan to hold on until Thursday to test again.

I too am wondering what the big red brand is. My only guess is the one that begins with V?

Kwick - I consider your apathy re work and your need to nap to be a very good sign Smile The apathy hasn't worn off here...

BelleH · 24/01/2017 13:47

Hi,

Quick recommendation - if you are thinking about or are successful via donor conception, I can recommend the DC Network. We started going to their conferences when I was pregnant (donor IUI) and have been going most years. They have different topics each year and also discussion groups. Our son has been to the youth group where the talk about their backgrounds.
They are also helpful if you have questions or want to know more about it.

All the best to you,

Belle

Pez82 · 24/01/2017 14:02

I'm on 11dpiui and tested on FMU so I still have some hope

Sorry to have raised your expectations, but the big red brand isn't as exciting as you think! It's one on then main retail banks and starts with an S Wink. Head office used to be in Milton Keynes and half of the town's people work here or have at least one relative who does!

tygr · 24/01/2017 14:11

So sorry to read about your loss Ever

Just checking in briefly. No new news. It's my 40th birthday. Today. Have been interviewing all morning and am currently drinking free coffee and cake with a birthday voucher. Back off to work again afterwards.

Have a call booked in from the clinic tomorrow as the open day was full but I might need to be at a work thing so might have to re-arrange.

Will update again when have something to report.

PaisleyBE · 24/01/2017 14:13

Good afternoon ladies,

Over past few weeks I read through all previous threads and got to know your journey and little big victories. I'm have to say that I'm very glad I found you, especially Shoes, since she did it the Denmark way. Smile

Shortly about me:
30 (turning 31 in 2017), single
In touch with a clinic in Denmark
First IUI attempt to be done in May 2017
Living in Belgium

I have been considering donor IUI as an option for me for several years already, but got serious about the plan in summer 2016. I have decided to have my first try only in May 2017, as I have a big trip to Oz planned in March, so I gave myself some time to firstly get checked and then to recover.
So, while waiting for May to happen, I went to see my GYN here in BE to check if everything works ok. My blood tests results showed a mild hypothyroidism, so the doctor prescribed me 25g of thyroxine daily.
I hope that the medication will work well and that all levels will be within limits in May.

Now I have a more serious task to do - to choose a donor. We'll see how that goes.

Shoes, do you have any special advice for those choosing the Denmark way? So far, I'm decided to wait for 1DC in May and then book flights & hotel for days that would cover the LH surge period.

To close my opening post I'd like to say - thanks ladies, you are all a great source of inspiration to me!

Everhopeful76 · 24/01/2017 14:51

Thnks for the recommendation BelleH.

Caution - small world we both live in Northampton. Likewise what I ve said to Stork if you ever want to meet up just let me know. In terms of endometriosis symptoms, mine was severe abdominal pain (best way can describe is being thrown on thick gravel pavement and been dragged across - like a constant grazing or burning sensation) particularly around AF but in the lead up to surgery it was bad nearly all through month. I did have a very large cyst on my left ovary tho which twisted, so hopefully your case will be just that you have endo in name only, or if absolutely necessary adhesions but no pain . Have you had the ultra sound to see where it might be lurking? I know that no all cysts are picked up by internal scan, some people for instance have it lurking behind the pelvic cavity so wouldn't be seen, pouch of douglas is a common place, not that I know quite where that is. Hopefully for you its just a case of ruling it out so you know it wont have an impact on fertility. I have quite a few friends that have endo, and they are varied in their response to symptoms from nothing causing any bother to agonising pain. Some people describe weakness, pins or needles or pain in the tops of thighs, heavy periods, pain during intercourse . Hopefully if you do have it, they can sort out any cyst quickly and then you ll be getting pregnant so it will put it in dormancy. That certainly has worked for me. PM me though if you want to ask more specific questions, quite happy to answer them. Also, who is your Consultant, because my former Obstetric Consultant is also one of the endo specialists at Northampton General, Mr Von Widekind.

Stork - thanks. Must contact my previous embryologists about if they still use Cryos. I really want to try for a full sibling for Mabel, but I guess if they are not screening for Zika, what else might they not be screening for? The relaxed attitude on family numbers is a bit worrying too, but I would probably risk it if my clinic still uses them just because I'm fixated on wanting a baby who might look like my beloved daughter. I guess if clinic don't, then I might find it tricky to find both a clinic who use Cryos and 1 that will treat low ovarian reserve!! Better get on the case with that. Realising that there are definitely at least 3 of us in close proximity it might be nice to meet as a little local support group. No pressure tho, maybe send a pm soon. I would love to do a mums and tots group tho in time with a bigger group too, when we have our babies. Positive thinking, it will happen.

Thanks Pickle for your thoughts - They do still have availability of my donor boy on the website, but must just contact them about reserving if my clinic do still use Cryos. If not, I ll have to look at ESB, is that also based in Denmark?

Was supposed to be seeing my Consultant today to discuss what happened and future plans and he went and cancelled, so upset, and was also so nervous so have got to do the same again next Thursday now. Also wanted to pick his brains about recurrence of endo as well, this guy could well be my regular go to Dr for both issues.
