Oh shoes thank you so much for delurking. 😄 I was wondering what the timing of your iui was. I remembered the 3am positive but not when you actually flew over for the iui. That helps a lot. I know the clear blue was negative at 6:30 last night, with a huge positive at 5:30 this morning. The cheapy was also a glaring positive this morning. Have to admit I also went out and bought the drugstore brand last night too, which was negative at 7:30 but a very fast positive this morning. There's just so much uncertainty. 4-6 hours for Lh to accumulate in urine after surge starts, ovulate 12-48 hours after surge, egg only lives so long, sperm only hangs around so long. Gah!! Guess I just need to trust that it worked with this timing before. Helps to hear your story though. Thank you!! Hope you are doing well.

shoes thanks for delurking and sharing your expertise... I am beginning to think IVF is easier than IUI and that quite possibly all my earlier attempts were at the wrong time Confused

I am a tad overwrought with work stress right now but am I right with the following:
Positive OPK between 5am and Noon - do IUI next day in the PM
Positive OPK between noon and 22pm - do iui day after in AM
???

Hi ladies,
My clinic did my head in re timing for IUI. I read the same thing online about 24-36 hours being optimum and even queried with my clinic why they said later (they tended to do IUI about 40-48 hours after positive). They also had you test only first thing in the morning which the internet told me was wrong, lunchtime is best). I lied to them on my last cycle to fall within the optimum window. The only cycle I insited on this and the only cycle that worked... May not have been anything to do with that, there were other variables such as this was also the only non medicated cycle. But I would do the same again if we were to go for more rounds. I also went off Clear Blue instead of cheapies as I found the cheapies too hard to read.
Hope that helps. X

Oh, and don't even get me started on the Trump mess! What have you done, America?! shakes head

Karendvm · 11/11/2016 21:25

taydex sounds like our clinics do the same thing. I'll see how this cycle goes. Feeling a bit blah about it. Feel like I should have had my iui today based on cramping. Lying might have to be the way I go. They only do iui in the morning.

taydex · 11/11/2016 22:10

My clinic only do IUI in the afternoon, once they've done the far more important -money making for them- IVFs in the morning. That said they did my last IUI in the morning when I told them I had a very important business meeting in the afternoon Wink

INeedNewShoes · 11/11/2016 22:54

Kwick - I think going on a combination of the study I read and my own experience I would aim for as close to 30 hours after a positive OPK as possible just because that's the apparent optimum window. So for example, If I got a smiley face at 7am I would aim for IUI at roughly midday the following day.

And I would test as often as possible when you get to the most likely days for LH surge. I have to admit I got to the point where I was basically testing every 4 hours (clearly I was obsessive about it given that I tested at 3am!). The more info you have to pin point when the LH surge started, the better for deciding when to do IUI.

It does seem a bit of a minefield and I hope more research is done on timings at sound point!

Have good weekends everyone Smile

kwick · 11/11/2016 23:00

My clinic does all day long - I even had same day once!!

Anyway once I get my surge I will let you guys know and you can tell me optimum time as my brain cannot process the necessary data - ok? Grin

So shoes I'm hoping I'll be ok. Positive at 5:30 this morning and iui tomorrow at 10am. It's just that I don't know exactly when I surged during the night but it must have been close to that test as the next time I tested this morning it was still positive. Gah. Thinking about this too much.

StorkAhoy · 12/11/2016 00:01

Hi all, 2nd scan today. Lining at 8.4mm. 5 follicles on right now 2x15mm, 1x14mm, 2x11mm. 10 follicles on left 2x11, 1x10, 1x9, 1x8, 4x7, 1x6.

They've increased my gonalf meds and I'm back again on Monday....

karen the drama of the ovulation! I couldn't handle it, so good luck my friend! And how irritating about the advice?!

kwick are those results not what you want to be seeing? I'm not sure what's expected given your treatment plan?

Karendvm · 12/11/2016 00:13

stork yay for lots of follicles! My ovaries hurt with just the 3. Can't imagine what it feels like to have that many. Good luck for your scan on Monday.

I keep flipping between thinking the timing is ok and then thinking it's not. Which, looking back, is how I always feel. I'm a control freak and there is nothing about this that I can control. Lol. Just gotta breathe and try.

INeedNewShoes · 12/11/2016 07:35

Karen - maybe think of it this way: even if your surge actually started at midnight then having your IUI at 10am puts you at 35 hours which is still pretty good timing.

I was convinced last IUI that I might be too late but I think it's better to be on the slightly late side than too early.

For one thing, the further your egg has traveled down the tube by the time the sperm find it, the lower the chance of ectopic pregnancy!

Also the sperm are being put directly into your uterus. They get a head start over normal sperm so will find the egg quicker than they would if you were doing home insemination or having sex.

INeedNewShoes · 12/11/2016 07:37

In fact 34 hours. It's clearly too early in the morning for me to try to add 24+10 Smile

StorkAhoy · 12/11/2016 10:52

karen to say I'm feeling a bit full up and bloated down there is an understatement! And I'm looking forward (with a smile on my face) to this getting even more uncomfortable, fingers crossed!

StorkAhoy · 12/11/2016 10:52

Oh and good luck with your IUI!

kwick · 12/11/2016 11:03

Best of luck with IUI karen!!!

stork I just need 1 egg bigger than 16mm Grin

Pez82 · 12/11/2016 12:40

Good luck Karen! Buy some pineapple on the way home Wink

Day 1 of my penultimate cycle before IUI today Smile (if all goes well if the hycosy and blood tests this month...) - I.e 2 more to become a pro at charting!

Karendvm · 12/11/2016 18:10

Iui all done. Back home and going to have a nap. Already have my pineapple. :). Asked the dr and she said the timing was very good based on my positive opk and the ovulation signs I have had. Also had a good sample. So here's hoping a good sperm and good egg have joined up. Thanks for all the support. X

taydex · 12/11/2016 18:37

Fingers and toes karen x

kwick · 13/11/2016 13:33

Karendvm · 13/11/2016 18:30

Spending the weekend lying down. I've had some irritation around my right ovary. I'm so paranoid about cysts and the pain they have caused me, so I'm taking it really easy. Lots of tv watching. :). Feeling ok but don't want to push it. Good luck with your scan tomorrow stork. Hope your follicles are starting to grow a bit kwick. Hope everyone else is having a great weekend. Just need to figure out what I'm going to do with the massive amount of leaves in my backyard......lol

kwick · 13/11/2016 20:25

Is it wrong that I LOVE "I'm a celebrity get me out of here"?

Take it easy karen Brew

The new shed, which was my birthday present, back in July, is finally in and looks amazeballs!
