Hi ladies, had to focus on work this week, but have now broken up for Christmas! Yay!
karen everything you're talking about pretty much sucks. I'm so sorry. I think delaying the IUI is a blessing, at least from my POV, you have to be mentally and physically primed to be receptive, and your energy is needed elsewhere, clearly. And a puppy? Super cute. Xoxox

Kwick how goes it all?

Anyone got experience of long verses short ivf protocol? I'd be interested in hearing thoughts.

Hi I have posted here briefly but DH and I are planning to begin our IUI with donor sperm journey next year. I've had a pelvic scan today as am suffering with very painful periods, the lady doing the scan aaod she found no evidence of anything worrying no cysts, polyps or that nature and commented that everything looks very healthy and my uterus is in a excellent position!! My question is whether our clinic will want to repeat the ultrasound again or whether I can use these results from my GP? as she found nothing she has suggested that I have an internal procedure to investigate further so am hoping that these tests can be used to reduce costs at private clinic, are they the same as a clinic would run?? Xx

I have always been confused with the difference between long and short protocols - both times I have done IVF, I have had one month to control ovulation, then a bleed, then a cycle where they collect, fertilise and then transfer - is that long or short? Confused

Hi char!!
Will depend on your clinic... at mine for every IUI cycle my clinic do a baseline scan, then further scans prior to ovulation. You should check with your clinic what tests they admit from elsewhere. Good news about your scan Smile

So I have sort of kept up milk drinking whilst in my trip. I am shattered... sat on plane waiting to take off for Blighty.

Tunbridge wells do baseline scans but from my basic understanding they will be looking for different things like follicles and so forth.

I rang the clinic today to see if there were any cancellations for Friday -there was but it was filled yesterday 😫Which was when I meant to ring DOH!!!! Oh well Friday the 13th it is

So the Dr who scanned me said I was juicy!! I have 2 juicy follicles - one at 16mm, another at 15mm!

I am feeling very stressed again though due to work stuff... had to deal with a employee suicide - awful just awful plus a bunch of other stuff... looks like my holidays (which are due to start Monday) may be intermittent...

So day 12 scan - 1 follicle at 20mm and another at 17mm and lining at 9.2 - I am juicilicious - its official!!!
IUI likely for tomorrow - they took bloods and will ring to confirm this afternoon.

What I do not get is why I am responding so much better to less medication??

Another negative. Am trying to look on the bright side that I can drink over Christmas, but really not feeling it at the moment.

Wow! Kwick - super follies! No idea why you would respond to less medication, apart from that I do wonder whether the massive cocktail of fertility drugs might upset the natural balance a bit. For now, who cares! You can go into this IUI with everything primed for a good chance of success. Sending lots of positive thoughts in your direction Smile

Can't try this cycle because of Christmas (which falls just on the wrong day for my cycle...), so it is another month off and another go in January. Maybe four/five (depending on how you count) is my lucky number!

I was at a work thing last night and someone I work with was saying oh yeh she doesn't have any kids she has lots of adopted nieces and nephews so gets to hand them back which is perfect! &best of both world! Whilst inside I'm dying thinking yeh I love my babies but in no way is the perfect or the best of both worldsSad why do people feel they need to speak for you! Especially about baby things when they know jack! Angry

Sorry late it didn't work out this time. January is just around the corner and with the festive period it won't feel long before you can try again

kwick how did it go? I have everything crossed for you!!! I'm in the same position re names, I have the perfect girl name and no clue about boys...

I've had a positive opk today so I can now work out when is day 1 of my 1st IUI cycle. Yay Xmas Smile I have my nurse appointment on Monday and the magic potion has arrived and is safely stored at the clinic. It seems so close now, I can't think of anything else!!!

Question - I've read that baby aspirin can help with the blood flow and therefore the lining (lining thickness is my issue along with the lazy thyroid so I'm desperate to improve this). Is anyone of you taking it? I've bought some 75mg tablets today and I'm thinking of starting it now to see if it has an impact on my next period.
