Ttc number 2!

Sonnet18 · 05/08/2016 20:10

Hello! Anyone thinking of ttc number 2? I have a 6 month old baby and don't want a big age gap between babies. AF has been a bit erratic over the past few months but DH and I have decided to make next month the first month of ttc. Anyone else sort of in the same boat?

Oh wow congratulations!!! How far gone are you then?!?!

MmmMalbec · 18/08/2016 17:28

You had the smiley on the clear blue early and the short LP didn't you?! All making sense now Grin OPKs are meant to pick up HCG aren't they!!!!

MrsY87 · 18/08/2016 17:30

Thanks ladies! I am in serious shock!

Think I must be about 5 weeks so early days still and have been having some spotting since what I thought was AF so feeling pretty cautious!

PurpleHaze1 · 18/08/2016 17:30

Wow!! Congratulations MrsY!

Am I right in thinking you thought you had a short LP? Or was that someone else... Hmm

Stats please!

MrsY87 · 18/08/2016 17:36

Yes I it was me purple I thought I had a short LP around 8-10 days as my cycles have been short.

Cycle 5, peak OPK CD14, DTD CD10, 12,14,15,17,19,20,22 Blush we were on holiday for some of that time! Haha! Spotting/light period CD 23-27. First cycle using OPKs

Sonnet18 · 18/08/2016 17:38

Oh wow! Third person! This is great! I'm still not at fertile week yet!!!!

So there's hope for those of us with short LPs yet! Smile

I'm so confused Confused CLearblue have got back to me after testing the Dual Hormone OPK I was convinced was faulty & they've detected no fault. To recap: used it cycle 2, first tested on CD8 & got low fertility then tested again CD9 & got peak. Then had a 28 day cycle! Cycle 3 (current cycle) first tested on CD9 & got low fertility then tested again CD10 & got peak. I'm on CD26 of this cycle so far!

They've sent me info on how women can have more than one surge etc but I know this cycle I didn't because there was NO line whatsoever on the IC I used at the same time. The surge didn't come until CD19 (confirmed on IC & Clearblue normal OPK). Gah! So frustrating & such a waste of £££

loztredders · 18/08/2016 19:15

Oh wow congratulations Mrs!!!
Our bodies are weird sometimes aren't they !!

loztredders · 18/08/2016 19:16

Hmm how frustrating purple!

MrsY87 · 18/08/2016 19:34

That is so frustrating for you purple.

Thanks Loz - have you told your DP yet? Mine still isn't home and I don't really know what to do with myself until he gets home or how to tell him...imagine I'll just blurt it out the moment he walks through the door!

badg3r · 18/08/2016 19:46

Posting for luck since it seems to be a good place for bfps Wink DS is 2 in December but only two very erratic periods since he was born (still bf). Been using the cheap tests and got a bpf a few days ago although very feint, and then nothing on the next two...! Maybe I should buy a clear blue test!

loztredders · 18/08/2016 19:49

No Mrs. Think I'm going to keep it to myself for a couple more days until I get a strong line hopefully!

Aw come back and let us know what his reaction is when you have told him :-)

loztredders · 18/08/2016 19:51

Fingers crossed for you badger!

I don't hold much hope for the cheapy tests. I'd try to get a first response early result as they tend to give nice strong lines early apparantly - they are very sensitive

PurpleHaze1 · 18/08/2016 20:05

Welcome badger I agree with loz, try a FRER or superdrug own brand test as they seem to be the most sensitive.

Question for those of you who don't temp but use OPKs...how do you decide what your ov day is? The day after a positive? Or do you get ovulating pains to help confirm?

loztredders · 18/08/2016 20:18

I have always counted ov day as the day after the first positive opk. I do them twice a day during when I think it might be close.

I have had ov pains since my second miscarriage though starting about 3 days before. It's like a bloated kind of ache if that makes sense, rather than a one sided type ovulation pain like most people describe

PurpleHaze1 · 18/08/2016 20:22

Thanks loz do you often have more than one day of positives?

Sonnet18 · 18/08/2016 20:27

I use the little cheap opks- one step I think they're called. I assume I ovulate a day or so afterwards. I think they give you approx a 12-36 hour window for ovulation to take place so about a day and a half? Correct me if I am wrong though!

Will get my hands on some superdrug tests then! Been using the tesco ones that were fine with dc1 but seem to have changed a bit in the last 2 years (the line is now a different colour for one thing!) congrats loz and Mrs, have fun breaking the good news!!

loztredders · 18/08/2016 22:15

Purple - I get one day where the lines match in colour ( deemed positive ) and then the next day the test line is darker than the control. So I'm not really sure if I'm 9 or 10dpo today to be perfectly honest but I'd guess 10 as I got a bfp today

loztredders · 18/08/2016 22:16

I use the one step too. I got 20 from amazon for about 3 quid I think- bargain

MrsY87 · 18/08/2016 22:20

Blurted it out to DH pretty much as he walked through the door...he's very happy but was a bit confused when I told him as he thought I'd has AF last week! Smile

Loz are you going to test again tomorrow or try to wait a couple of days?

Fingers crossed for you badger!

Purple I think ov is supposed to be 12-24hrs after a peak OPK but not 100% sure. I've also had ov pain since I came off the pill and it was about that timeframe after my positive OPK.

loztredders · 19/08/2016 05:59

I'll try to wait couple days but who knows if I'll end up caving later and peeing on that remaining stick already!

Are you going to re test in a few days? ?

MmmMalbec · 19/08/2016 06:01

Congratulations again to all the BFPs! Amazing start to the thread Grin

Welcome badger!

Purple I've used OPKs twice and found I've ovulated the day the test goes negative. First month was- very close positive, actual positive for two days in a row, then negative the next day and I ovulated. This month was very close, positive for a day, negative the day I ovulated. I also use the one step cheapies.

Definitely 3dpo today. Let the TWW commence Grin

PurpleHaze1 · 19/08/2016 07:16

Thanks for all the replies re the OPKs and when you actually ovulate Smile I'm either 8 or 9 dpo today. I'd rather be 9 so we'll go with that! Grin AF due tomorrow...

Welcome to the 2ww malbec Any plans to test next week?

MmmMalbec · 19/08/2016 07:19

Yeah sounds a good plan to lose a day of the TWW!!! Thanks... Erm well AF will be due towards the end of next week so I guess if there's no sign by the end of the weekend I might test! Not feeling very optimistic at all though!

What do you think your chances are this month?
