Thought I would create a fresh thread as the original had been going since Feb. This is for anyone TTC #1, a bit of moral support as we all attempt to embark on the scary journey that is parenthood! Join us if you are a mix of terrified and excited, don't really know what you're doing yet and hadn't heard of CM before you started reading Mumsnet!!

I've only told my mum were ttc although have been tempted a few times to tell bff. And I gave up smoking too when took the last pill 6 weeks ago now by just swapping to an ecig. I'm surprised no one questioned it as I'd smoked since 15 too but thankfully no one asked why!!! Eva I have definitely replaced smoking with food and have put on 5lbs since I quit :( but got to be healthier than smoking as long as I don't keep putting it on at this rate lol

Pyjamas81 · 13/06/2016 13:48

Ahhhh how I miss my e-cig! She says, frantically rubbing arm in hope of increased nicotine hit...

Gave them up due to TTC and also because DH hates e-cigs with a passion! I did say that they're preferable to my past 20 a day habit (which I gave up when I met him and switched to e-cigs) but apparently, "they stink"

Think he must have been a sniffer dog in a past life as all me and my friends could smell was the occasional whiff of Polos ha ha

Eva30 · 13/06/2016 22:04

Ahh how nice it is to have fellow ex-smoker friends. I was a dragon after quitting (plus caffeine at the same time), I should have come with a warning sign.
jjspoon it makes sense that supermodels live on cigs & Diet Coke now hahaha
I'm on cd27 now, 12dpo. AF due Weds, the day I fly to Spain, what a bitch AF is.

BusyNothings · 13/06/2016 22:14

Still no sign of anything for me. Not helped by my mum saying I told you that stick thing would mess you up!

Thanks mum.

SuchaJem · 13/06/2016 22:54

How do Mum's know how to say these things? Hmm that's exactly the kind of thing my mum would say busy

Got a snowy white bfn with an IC this evening. Am 10 DPO but think am out. Just had the urge to POAS and went with it. Eurgh.

Pyjamas81 · 13/06/2016 23:21

My mum said exactly the same thing! Thanks mum ha ha. She also said she thinks I'll be knocked up by August (she's v excited possibly more than I am) honestly think she thinks I've inflicted some sort of mother abuse on her by holding out until 35! I am mean though - I said we were thinking about getting a cat instead and naming it after her Grin

Jem - sorry to hear about the bfn Sad You never know though, it might still be early!

BusyNothings · 14/06/2016 09:45

Sorry about the bfn jem but it is still early so hopefully.

I know what you mean pj my mum has been nagging since I turned 16 and is driving me nuts lol. One minute she's telling me to calm down and just enjoy the process. Next she's telling me I'll be pg in a month because all our family is. Then she's like Oooh no that sticky was bad. I've got whiplash!

Still struggling with dtd, hubby has been unwell so no dice.

Pyjamas81 · 14/06/2016 10:05

Ha ha busy - my mum would never tell me to calm down, I've been too not bothered for way too long in her eyes!

Finally got first real AF this morning - hating the cramps and bloating (so many years with nothing!), but at least I can start properly tracking now Smile

BusyNothings · 14/06/2016 10:08

Ooh yay pj never thought I would be jealous of AF lol at least you can figure out sort of where you are now - probably the only time you will cheer AF on a TTC thread lol

Pyjamas81 · 14/06/2016 10:30

Ha ha I know - just relieved that I seem to be returning to normality!

Fingers crossed AF starts behaving for you too!

Eva30 · 14/06/2016 10:47

Hey all. Cd29 for me, want AF to get here now to start all over again. Due tomorrow. Bfn again this morning, 13dpo so it's definitely not my month. I'm off to Spain tomorrow for a week so catch up with you all in a week - hope there's some BFPs to read when I get backSmile

fuzzinmybrain · 14/06/2016 10:59

Sorry about BFN, Eva! Hope you have a relaxing holiday, enjoy the sun!

Eva30 · 14/06/2016 12:45

Thanks fuzzSmile

BusyNothings · 14/06/2016 13:39

Oooh enjoy your jollies eva! Have a cocktail for us!

SuchaJem · 14/06/2016 14:04

PJ / get the cat. This has kept my mum distracted for a good year I would say. Also - cats

First time TTC - thread 2
PowerofThree · 14/06/2016 14:46

Hello, can I join in here? Have been ttc since start of year and since then my body seems to have given up on its nice regular 29 day cycles. Have had three 28-31 day cycles, one 50 day cycle (?!)and now I started spotting on day 24 - thought it might be an implantation bleed but it has gradually got heavier over three days - though still much lighter than my usual periods.

Why can't it be easier to tell if you have conceived to get rid of all this waiting around trying to work out what is going on ?! /end rant

Imavinoops · 14/06/2016 14:49

Hello everyone!
I'm 22, TTC#1
Cycle #5 cd 14
I have a little step son who is 3 but I just missed the tiny baby stage with him so am bricking it a little for that bit!
Chuck me a cranky toddler any day! ;)

Hilariously I got a taste of the (hopeful) future yesterday when our little dog was spayed and had to wear a baby grow to not bite the stiches and I sat up on the bed with her while she snoozed and DP and DSS were downstairs having a play! ;) Very bizarre!

I'm currently willing things to happen without trying to stress. (It's the WORST thing you can do as the Aunt in Law said! ;) )

Pyjamas81 · 14/06/2016 18:07

Ah love Max Jem! My mum is not an animal lover, so had a bit of a sense of humour failure Grin

Yep - this is now cycle 1! Obviously don't know how long it's going to be so am going to start OPK testing as if were a 28 day cycle and be guided by the results. My mum is convinced I'll take after her in that she barely had to be even looked at by dad to get pregnant and we have a whole family of very fertile women - I did remind her that I haven't ever conformed to family traits, so am unlikely to start now ha ha

Bah to your PMT - still have fx for you though SmileWhen are you testing if AF doesn't show?

Hello and welcome to Imavinoops and Powerofthree!

SuchaJem · 14/06/2016 18:17

Hello power I've been trying since the beginning of the year too. Didn't imagine I would still be trying 6 months in! The waiting is awful isn't it.

Hi imavino your Aunt is no doubt right but the question is - how do you achieve this??!! I find the longer we try the more stressed I get Envy

SuchaJem · 14/06/2016 18:18

PJ my mum conceived 4 times barely trying it seems; she was accidentally pregnant on their wedding day! If only it was going to smoothly for me..

Not sure about testing. I have no hope at all this cycle really but perverse part of me still wants to POAS. Just enjoy the drama! Will probably wait for AF now and not bother.

Pyjamas81 · 14/06/2016 18:38

Ha ha - I like the drama too - I POAS for no reason at all other than to figure out how it works!

Lemon27 · 14/06/2016 18:54

Hi ladies id love to join in too! I'm 33 and only starting officially TTC since last month. Then was ridiculously disappointed that I'm not the fertile animal I assumed I was and didn't get a BFP first try lol Grin

For the ladies whose DP/DH's are mad keen - I could've written your posts! My lovely DH has been wanting kids for the past 6 years and I've totally held him off. Ive enjoyed my carefree lifestyle of nights out and holidays, and career, plus I wanted to get married first (only because I wanted to have a fabulous wedding/honeymoon without worrying about baby weight or babysitters!!!!). I feel I can't put it off much longer but have slowly come around to the idea over the course of 2 years.

Have told 2 of my friends who have kids that I came off the pill and now wish I hadn't - they keep making comments and watching me like a hawk when we meet up to see what I'm eating/drinking for clues Hmm

Also on the mums - both our mums are gagging for a grandchild, I think they are despairing of us (me) now, I don't want to tell them we are TTC as I think it'll be a lovely surprise (relief!) if we spring some good news on them once we get a BFP!!! Smile

BusyNothings · 14/06/2016 19:54

Hi lemon! Welcome to the wagon =]

My bbt has just arrived so I now have a new toy to play with. I know everyone says relax! But that's just stresses me out more. I'm much more chilled when I can focus on something and work out how it works.

No sign of AF for me. I keep telling myself only in the 3rd week since sticky out but it feels much longer. Grr

pj I also like to poas to understand how it works lol. I'm sure my pee sticks are broken.

Imavinoops · 14/06/2016 20:11

Sucha Lord knows how to achieve "unstressed" status! ;) All I can think about is timing dtd right and planning this that and the other for when it actually happens!

I can't help but POAS atm. I'm terrible at waiting for things! Day before AF arrives I'm getting all itchy and imagining symptoms! It's ridiculous and even DP had started jumping on the bandwagon! ;) Excited isn't even the word around here haha!

Pyjamas81 · 14/06/2016 20:47

I just started with the bbt busy - finding it really interesting! My temp dropped yesterday and lo and behold, today AF arrived. Finding it all really fascinating in a borderline geeky way ha ha

Hi Lemon! Think my DH has been keen for a while but wanted to wait until we were married - and he knew I'd freak out - I've taken a bit of convincing lol
