Thought I would create a fresh thread as the original had been going since Feb. This is for anyone TTC #1, a bit of moral support as we all attempt to embark on the scary journey that is parenthood! Join us if you are a mix of terrified and excited, don't really know what you're doing yet and hadn't heard of CM before you started reading Mumsnet!!

Hello,
Can I join? I'm 32 - will be 33 in the autumn - so feel a bit late to the party. I'm also incredibly anxious about all this, about whether I am ready, etc. Just started TTC. I have irregular cycles of 27-39 days and haven't got my head round this whole ovulation business yet. We DTD a few times this month, just going for a relaxed start whilst we work out what all this is about. Of course, now I feel nauseous and have been cramping for two days - but I'm sure it's all in my head! AF due a week today.

Pyjamas81 · 16/08/2016 22:53

Welcome vida! Don't worry - you're not as late to the party as me! I'm 35, and that's definitely worrying me now Confused

Am also v familiar with irregular cycles since coming off the pill - it's infuriating!

Hope AF stays away for you Smile

Eva30 · 17/08/2016 06:31

Welcome vida
Hi jj/mojitos
I surprised myself by not testing too, but caved today, even though from my temps it's glaringly obvious it would be a BFN (sob). Why isn't AF here yet AngrySadAngry This is by far my most frustrating cycle yet. Cd33 - FF says AF due today. I just want to draw a line in the sand and crack on with the next cycle.
pjs oh no to another marathonHmm you and DH will be exhausted by the end of it, an excuse for some kind of treat though surely!

Vida I'm 33 don't worry Smile
If you haven't got your head round your cycle I reccomend purchasing a BBT thermometer (mine was a few quid from Amazon) and taking your resting temp every day as soon as you wake. You can put these into an app such as fertility friend and it tells you (in retrospect) when you ovulated. It may sound like a bit of a faff but it really helped me understand my cycle and what days to "try"

CoffeeAndTea · 17/08/2016 06:54

Little update on me - I'm now 12dpo which is the longest I've ever gone without at least spotting, except for the month I had my bfp/chemical

comparing my charts, my temps are much higher this time - with the chemical they had already dropped to just above cover line from 10dpo and then below at 12dpo and 13dpo (when I got bfp)

Tested this morning on a cheapy and BFN, I'm gonna hold out now until Friday if AF hasn't arrived. I'll probably test tonight and tomorrow

Eva30 · 17/08/2016 07:27

coffeeandtea that sounds really promising, good luck testing!

Pyjamas81 · 17/08/2016 08:12

Oh jeez Eva - it is SO frustrating!! I got to the point where I didn't know whether to pg or OPK test last month!! Really feel for you - it's infuriating.

Fingers crossed for you coffee Smile

Day two of flashy face - I honestly don't think can be near ovulating yet, I'm only on CD9! Didn't dtd last night as we were both so tired, can't tonight as we're both out after work, so tomorrow it is! Then I think we should just aim for dtd every other day until I get peak then every day. Am exhausted just typing it! Wish we had a high libido - this would all be much more enjoyable if we did!

Vida32 · 17/08/2016 10:00

Thanks so much for the advice. Will get the thermometer and get going. Driving myself completely mad today. Feel really sick and really tired but I am absolutely convinced it is in my head. I know from past experience that I can work myself up into a state when I think I'm unwell, so I'm sure I'm seizing on every symptom and somehow making myself worse.

How on earth do you concentrate and get things done every month going through this?!

Piehunter · 17/08/2016 10:01

pyjamas every other day is perfectly fine, the chance doesn't go up hugely with every day compared to every other, even 3 times a week is OK, I have pain after sex due to surgery, nerve damage, scar tissue so we're aiming for 2-3 times a week, I couldn't cope with every day/every other, it's pain that I take morphine for so it's pretty bad..

difficult brown spotting is totally normal as pill gets out of your system, hormones settling still, certainly don't be worrying about pcos with no other signs of it!

I'm in my 2ww now, according to opk I ov'd 13th/14th however have had some ewcm since so very confusing... Some googling says this can happen after ov still... Last months cycle was 28 days but I didn't ov til day 21 this time (i think...) so will hopefully be a longer cycle otherwise a v short luteal phase! Will test 26th if no af by then, ovia says I should be due on 23rd but after later ov probably not!

Piehunter · 17/08/2016 10:05

From www.preseed.com/TTC-Blog/Dr-E/36/Fertility-Fact-Vs-Fiction.aspx stats on how often you have sex :) I found it useful to take pressure off having read lots if people in threads doing it more than once a day! Before they damaged me in surgery I'd have been up for that but mo longer!

First time TTC - thread 2
Difficultyear2015 · 17/08/2016 10:28

Piehunter Thank you. Last time I came off the pill I had no brown spotting at all. I wasn't even on it a year this time. I had all ovulation symptoms and EWCM 15 days ago now (13 days after my first withdrawal bleed) so I am pretty sure AF will turn up soon.
My spotting has totally stopped now. Im really wet down there so keep thinking AF has arrived but when I go to the loo its not (sorry for tmi). Still no cramping yet either, just lots of pinchy stitch type feelings. I had major nausea yesterday but none today.

BusyNothings · 17/08/2016 11:10

Sorry ladies I've been hovering and reading but I just wanted to let you know. Went to the docs today. She's pretty sure it's a miscarriage or cp or whatever you want to call it. Been for blood tests. Got more on Monday with results on Wednesday but just a matter for the course she's pretty sure. Im going to be off for a while. Good luck for all of you Flowers

Pyjamas81 · 17/08/2016 11:12

Thanks for the info piehunter! Takes the pressure off a bit Smile

I'm obviously now worrying about why I'm getting prolonged high fertility yet no CM of any variety most of the time, never ewcm - Dr. Google is a nightmare.

Pyjamas81 · 17/08/2016 11:20

Oh I'm so so sorry to hear that busy Sad

Lots of FlowersFlowersFlowers for you.

Eva30 · 17/08/2016 11:54

I am so so sorry to hear that busy FlowersFlowers we are here if you need support when you're ready to come back on to MN.
pie that's a really interesting article

Piehunter · 17/08/2016 17:28

So sorry busy 😔 look after yourself x

I found the stats really interesting, I knew there wasn't much benefit between doing it once a day vs multiple times and for the small decrease in % for every other day vs every day it's not worth stressing over! Helps when you or OH don't feel like it to know it's really not the be all and end all and keep it all a bit more relaxed :)

MoonlightMojitos · 17/08/2016 17:29

Oh busy I am so sorry :(. We're all here if you want to talk/rant etc when you're ready and there are also some other supportive threads for what you're going through. Bug hugs to you xx

eva sorry for bfn and temp drop. Hoping af comes soon for you so you can get it over with.

Welcome to the madness vida!

piehunter that's an interesting read thanks!

Good luck coffee; sounding promising!

MoonlightMojitos · 17/08/2016 17:54

*Big not bug...

Eva30 · 17/08/2016 20:08

AF finally arrived YAYYY (now there's something I never thought I'd say). Here we go, cd1, cycle 5 please be the one!

Pyjamas81 · 17/08/2016 20:50

Hurrah Eva! AF is better than uncertain AF when you know it's on the cards in my book. Fingers crossed for cycle 5!

Just got back from boozy dinner - trying very hard to just keep my life going until I get a BFP. Last month's stress was horrible! Bet I'll be stressing in 2ww though...

givingitago85 · 18/08/2016 02:06

So sorry busy.

Is 4 dpo too early for implantation bleeding? Been a bit crapmy and (tmi) a brownish wipe earlier...not getting my hopes up!

CoffeeAndTea · 18/08/2016 06:34

Sorry to hear that busy :( Flowers

I've had very light brown spotting since yesterday but no proper AF. I sat squinting at a test for half an hour this morning and I'm 99% sure it's negative. I'll do another tomorrow if no AF doesn't come, but I feel like it's on it's way Confused

MrsCW86 · 18/08/2016 14:09

Hi everyone, can I join? I'm 30 and ttc#1. AF arrived this morning so officially on cycle 3 I think, if I'm understanding it all right! I had a mc in January but was only ttc for one cycle before, so this is the first time I've read about basal temps or ewcm or opks etc - I never realised there was so much to think about, but can see myself becoming slightly obsessive about it all (downloaded several fertility tracker apps which I record every slightest twinge in Confused)

Eva30 · 18/08/2016 14:55

Hi mrscw you have almost the same stats as me! Welcome. sorry about mc.
coffeeandtea fx AF stays away.
givingitago I have no idea if it's too early but I'd take it as a good sign personally.

MrsCW86 · 18/08/2016 16:04

Thanks Eva, took a few months before I felt ready but back on it now so fx. Although also slightly terrified about getting pg as a bit of a stress head anyway, so can see the old anxiety levels going through the roof!
