Thought I would create a fresh thread as the original had been going since Feb. This is for anyone TTC #1, a bit of moral support as we all attempt to embark on the scary journey that is parenthood! Join us if you are a mix of terrified and excited, don't really know what you're doing yet and hadn't heard of CM before you started reading Mumsnet!!

Aw that sucks! One day...! The only room that could be suitable in our house (I.e free at the moment) is the one allocated to be a nursery... Think I'll choose that over a library though Wink

Love I'm just starting cycle 7 and feel every day that it's not going to happen. Really struggling to stay optimistic, even though they say it can take a normal healthy up to a year quite normally. Hang in there x

Pyjamas81 · 17/06/2016 18:47

All my TTC books are currently on my kindle so I don't give the game away with a book poking out of my bag! So far I have:

The unmumsy mum (favourite so far)
What to expect when you're expecting
Expecting better
First time parent: the honest guide to coping brilliantly and staying sane in your baby's first year

I'm hopeless Blush

BusyNothings · 17/06/2016 18:51

Ooh new titles! I got some books for hubby too. Spent ages researching ones which were appropriate. They are "blokey" ones which help deal with the complicated emotional stuff and helping them understand what's going on without icking him out lol. I know not very feminist of me but no point pushing him on something so personal.

He actually likes them he hates reading but plods through them a bit and has apparently found bits helpful.

I have a bit of brown discharge and cramping but not sure if I'm just phantom doing it now. Blush

Pyjamas81 · 17/06/2016 23:54

That sounds like a good sign busy! Fingers crossed...

My AF only lasted two days - fine by me! I always had light periods anyway.

DH only reads newspapers and the economist - don't think a baby book would go down well ha ha

BusyNothings · 18/06/2016 11:41

Well it sorted of spotted for a bit but nothing major. My periods before the implant were very heavy and at least a week and very difficult so if they at little and shorter now no complaints here!

Lol well he already reads more than my dh if he reads it's like karr from the jungle book hypnotising him

Jjspoon · 18/06/2016 20:37

What are you all doing in terms of abstaining from things at the moment whilst ttc? I'm in 2ww and I just had brie with crackers and I had a runny poached egg for breakfast. Don't feel bad about it lol. Probably won't once I get the BFP but I don't really get the whole cheese thing tbh I've never known anyone to get listeria from cheese?! Also the NHS website still says to avoid eggs that aren't fully cooked through but I thought it was fine now as long as they were lion stamped against salmonella?

MishyBakes · 18/06/2016 21:04

I tend to abstain from the most harmful things like alcohol during the tww. I've also cooked my steaks a bit more in that time (as much as it pains me to do so, I love a rare steak!). I need to read up on rationale behind the diet restrictions during pregnancy. I think it's a mix between risk of transmission across the placenta to baby, and that when pregnant, your immune system is weakened slightly, making your more susceptible to infection. Not sure how much of this applies to TTC

Eva30 · 19/06/2016 08:15

pyjamas my AF only lasted 2 days too and it's worrying me. It was very light too. Is 2 days the norm for you?

Pyjamas81 · 19/06/2016 08:40

Hi Eva - AF was usually about three days before, very very occasionally four and never really that heavy. I'm not worrying about it too much as I had cramping and massive bad moods this time around which never happened during the break week on the pill. Was first real AF after coming off contraception, so will be using OPK sticks to see what's what!

Pyjamas81 · 19/06/2016 08:42

Jjspoon - I'm not abstaining from anything really until I get a BFP - 9 months of abstaining is long enough for me!

Eva30 · 19/06/2016 09:23

Ah right, thanks pyjamas, yeah I came off the pill in April so maybe still adjusting then. I googled it and ended up on a website that said it's a sign of cancer!! Seems like I always end up with that explanation when I type something into google lol

Pyjamas81 · 19/06/2016 09:26

Dr Google is obsessed with frigging cancer!

Yep - definitely think we're still adjusting. I'm more than happy with a two day AF ha ha

BusyNothings · 19/06/2016 11:48

Ugh me and Google are not friends. I've still only got discharge. According to google it could be one of about ten things but no indication as to which.
eva mine were long and heavy before the implant but nothing since so I'm with you in not knowing what's going on!

I'm not abstaining from anything either jj the only thing I'm trying to cut down is caffeine which after the first few days I feel better for now.

CinnamonTwist · 19/06/2016 13:47

I have cut down on things- alcohol caffeine etc but not actually abstained as I don't want to be obvious, so for example we went out for a meal with friends on Friday and I had a glass of wine, I felt a teeny bit guilty but they say that the foetus doesn't actually attach til about 5w or something so there shouldn't be a worry. And I don't want to abstain from all the things I like when it may be pointless! When I get a BFP then I will fully stop alcohol and nice cheese etc! Till then I'll savour little bits of them and really appreciate itWink
I am 3dpo now, and noticing all the phantom symptoms already, which can't possibly exist yet, like sore breasts- idk if this usually happens and I just don't notice!

love2003 · 19/06/2016 15:19

So AF arrived this morning, 4 days late Envy
In terms of abstaining, I've decided I'm going to relax and do everything as I normally would. I'm thinking that I'm stressing too much about ttc and a glass of wine or two will help me relax about it all. Ive been willing AF to eventually arrive after BFN's and it arrived today funnily enough after having a couple wines last night, maybe coz I relaxed a bit more.

BusyNothings · 19/06/2016 16:20

That sucks love Envy but at least you know where you are now and can start again. I also think a glass of wine or two won't do you any harm.

My spotting seems to have stopped. Boobs aren't as sore anymore but still uncomfortable and nothing else bloody happening. I'm so frustrated, trying not to let it stress me out but I just don't have a clue what's going on and its pissing me off. I just wish AF would get her ass in gear and start properly, this way I can start c1 and at least try to understand what I'm doing. But noooo...

Ugh sorry for the rant I'm just really pissed off tonight.

Who knows maybe my bad mood is AF.

Jjspoon · 19/06/2016 16:23

Thanks everyone, and exactly my thoughts pyjamas! Well my theory is that implantation doesn't happen til around 10dpo so anything before then couldn't get through to baby anyway as no placenta yet?

eva my first real af after pill was 2 days of light then nothing for 2 days then came back again for another 2 days... Definitely think it takes a while to settle down.

Lemon27 · 19/06/2016 17:42

Hi girls... possibly nothing but my nipples have been incredibly sensitive the past few days, more than I've ever had before (usually only sensitivity around ovulation) so I'm trying not to take that as a sign but at the same time slightly hoping. Not due AF till the weekend after next so will hold tight till then.

Had a big day/night out yesterday so am currently recovering on the couch. Hope everyone else is having a good weekend!!

Pyjamas81 · 19/06/2016 19:25

I had a big night too lemon so have been best friends with the sofa today!

Exactly Jj - giving up my social life will be tough, I'm not doing it any earlier than necessary ha ha

I'm going to start OPK testing on Tuesday with the Clearblue digi ones - the cheap ones are good as they're cheap, but I can't be dealing with the whole peeing in a pot in the middle of the day thing!

BusyNothings · 20/06/2016 22:00

How's everyone getting on today?

Still no sign of AF for me but the spotting has stopped. Everything coming back negative so even more bloody confused.

On the plus side we had an offer accepted on a house today! Yay! Something else to obsess and worry over.

Pyjamas81 · 20/06/2016 22:20

Congrats on the house busy! Now you can take your mind off things a little by obsessing over coordinating cushions - I think I kept Amazon and John Lewis afloat when we renovated our house ha ha

Stupid AF! Must be so annoying! I was already annoyed at 32 days.

I'm starting on the digi OPK testing tomorrow - no idea how long cycle is as have only had one AF, so am just going to base it on a 28 day cycle.

Jjspoon · 20/06/2016 23:02

Probably a bit hopeful of me but I've decided to buy the whole 9 months book for my OH and plan to give it to him when I get the BFP with a big smile and see how long it takes him to work out that's what I'm telling him lol. Now just to hide it until then... we're moving in a few weeks so need to find a box he won't look in lol

Pyjamas81 · 20/06/2016 23:38

That's such a good idea jj! I've been thinking about how I would do it - might steal that with pride ha ha

I'll read it myself in the meantime!

BusyNothings · 21/06/2016 08:35

Ooh I don't know this book is it good? I'd love to have some clever reveal but I think I'll be in too much shock and need him to confirm it lol
