Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

Hi Blossom,

Yes I'm very private about it too. I regret telling so many people I was pg before I had the MC.

I had a few drinks last night and let my hair down. It was fun to forget about ttc for a few hours.

I certainly get lots of twinges since MC. I start getting cramps around cd21 (once the progesterone peaks?) but I also had this when I fell pg so who knows what causes it. I always thought it was implantation but it couldn't have been every time.

All the twinges you describe certainly could be related to pg. Good that you're not feeling moody. Fingers crossed for you this week Smile

My okp was positive yesterday am and my temp went up this morning and I am exhausted, dd2 keeps waking up at 5.30! I want to go to bed soon I would think any chances this month have gone. What do you think?

One of my best friends had a miscarriage in Nov abd is now ttc and has just had a cp so it is great to have someone in real life going through the same thing.

Hoping all your twinges are something!

We have covered 3 days of the last 4! So should be OK to miss tonight if we are passed ovulation! Unless temp comes back down tomorrow.

jinglebellmel · 21/08/2016 19:45

Temp still up but I started spotting a bit this evening so expecting it to drop and Af to arrive tomorrow. I was starting to get a bit excited!

My cycles are more twingey since the mc too. Also I now get horrible cramps the first day of AF. I always had dull cramps before, but these are like my uterus hates me Sad

jinglebellmel · 21/08/2016 21:00

Yep mine are more twingey too.

Blossom Af was due yesterday. Feel certain it will be here tomorrow so 2 days later than normal.

Mcbaby, should be fine to have a night off, sounds like you've covered all bases so far.

Alibaba2 · 21/08/2016 21:30

It's always so gutting to see the first spotting, temp drop or BFN. Especially when you're not expecting it.

But Mel, there's still hope with spotting.

McBaby, hope you get a night off! Sounds like you've timed it right.

Blossom, yeah colds are often a first symptom. I got one this year around implantation time. I wonder what causes that?

McBaby · 21/08/2016 21:59

We went for it my brother just phoned to say they are pregnant!

jinglebellmel · 22/08/2016 08:21

You okay Mcbaby? It's tough to hear even when you're happy for them.

Af is here, 2 days late which never happens, maybe lp is getting longer from the supplements I've been taking since mc.

OP posts:
McBaby · 22/08/2016 09:08

Jinglebel sorry af has arrived but good news of lengthening lp.

Obviously happy for them it just makes me sad and feel like I will never get pregnant again and petrified if I do of another mc!

Had such bad insomnia all night and my temp has come down again so don't know if I didn't ovulate or if my poor sleep has really affected it!

Alibaba2 · 22/08/2016 09:12

Sorry Mel, but good news about your LP! More time for implantation to happen Smile

McBaby, what cycle day are you on? I guess temps do funny things if you have a bad night's sleep.

I'm feeling pretty negative too but think it's just where I am in the cycle.

jinglebellmel · 22/08/2016 10:45

Yep I'm pretty negative too. Being two days late now means that dh probably won't be here on ov day this cycle, I'm sure doing it before should be enough if it's going to happen, but another thing to stress over.

Mcbaby my temps are always lower if I've had a bad nights sleep, and tend to have a big dip 4 dpo. It's so hard isn't it? Even more so when it's family I imagine.

What age gaps do you all have/will you have if you have another now? My son is so ready for a little brother or sister and the age gap is just getting bigger and bigger as time goes on, makes me so sad. I'm sure it won't matter in the grand scheme of things, I'm just at that negative stage in my cycle!

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 22/08/2016 11:06

It's definitely the negative stage in the cycle. Once AF finishes, I start feeling positive again. The pre-ov bit is supposed to make you feel positive and creative. I hope so!

McBaby · 22/08/2016 11:30

I am on 2dpo had a rose yesterday and back down today maybe I didn't ovulate but the pains, Ewcm, higher libido, and opk suggest I should have!

Dd1 has just turned 4 last week and dd2 is 2 and 4 months! Also wording the bigger the second age gap is!

Alibaba2 · 22/08/2016 12:27

McBaby, a 1-day temp drop/rise could just be a blip due to illness, lack of sleep, or temping at a different time. Your App will discount it if it's just one day.

My kids are 5 and 6 so it would be a much bigger gap than yours and I think the older your kids are the more they enjoy it as they can help more and fight less.

jinglebellmel · 22/08/2016 13:57

Good point Ali, I'm sure there must be positives to a bigger age gap, I need to try and be less negative!

Could just be a blip then Mcbaby, lots of things can make it drop, bad nights sleep definitely does it for me.

OP posts:
McBaby · 22/08/2016 14:16

Sorry for being so negative today too little sleep and too many pregnant people!

thatsnotmybear · 22/08/2016 14:31

No need to apologise Mcbaby. I felt fine first & second day of AF but by day 3 I was feeling miserable & all the negative thoughts came flooding in. I have close friends who have had/are having babies and while I've sent well wishes & baby gifts, the bottom line is I know I'm being quite disengaged. It's purely self-preservation & completely understandable. And my friends are most likely in their own baby bubble & unlikely to notice too much!

thatsnotmybear · 22/08/2016 15:12

My DS is 4 so we're also looking at a biggish age gap. But my friend has 2 DS's aged 8 and 3. The older one gets the younger one up on weekend mornings & gives him his breakfast, while her & her DH have a lie-in!

jinglebellmel · 22/08/2016 16:01

Thanks bear, that's just what I need to hear! Could definitely get used to that arrangement and a lie in :). I suppose it's just because the timing has been taken out of my hands that it bothers me.

(Although obviously I'll be very grateful to have a second at all)

Blossom, hopefully you'll manage it naturally again. I know quite a few people who had Ivf and managed to conceive naturally second/third time. Were you trying long before the mc?
