Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

Hi, I asked the same thing on th either ttc after mc thread but maybe you guys might be more knowledgable seeing as my query relates directly to this thread title.
Had recent mc- natural started bleeding on 1st of this month, had negative pregnancy test. Started using opks about 5 days ago, which were negative until this morning. So a positive one today-clear blue smily face. No other symptoms of ovulation so not sure how reliable the opk is?
Anyone any experience of same?

thatsnotmybear · 18/08/2016 20:38

I've just turned 39 and have a 4 yr old DS.

Yes we definitely peaked too soon! I was thrown off by the previous short cycle & didn't want to wait for a positive opk unless I didn't get one, as I hadn't the previous month. But now I know I ov'd on CD14 and cycles are back to 27 days I can be better prepared for f*ck week!

jinglebellmel · 18/08/2016 21:48

Capet, sorry for your loss, hope you're okay. As you had some negative opks first sounds like it could be an lh surge. So hard to tell though - as we've all found hormones can do crazy things for a while after miscarriage. I've found the only way to know for sure if I've ovulated is temping, it's not for everyone though x

Temp has properly dropped. Am awaiting AF any minute. But feel ok!

jinglebellmel · 19/08/2016 08:46

Sorry Ali, but I'm glad you're feeling okay about it. Af due tomorrow, debating whether to use my last first response test or see what temp does tomorrow and save myself £4.

OP posts:
jinglebellmel · 19/08/2016 12:51

So I wasted £4, negative as I expected. September has to be the month!

Sorry Mel. There's always that sliver of hope isn't there? But at least you're prepared for AF to arrive, then it's a new cycle & another chance x

thatsnotmybear · 19/08/2016 15:57

Ditto Ali - my temp dropped right down to 36.16 this morning & AF even heavier, putting to bed any notion that yesterday might have been late IB!

jinglebellmel · 19/08/2016 16:18

Yeah, pretty gutted but at least I'm prepared for tomorrow as you say Bear. Onward and upward. Hope everyone is alright.

Alibaba2 · 19/08/2016 16:35

Sorry Bear and Mel.

AF still hasn't arrived but must be due tomorrow as temp dropped under cover line this am.

Have just been crying my eyes out at the theatre so definitely hormonal. PMS has hit me hard this month! So much for the power of B vitamins!

rider1975 · 19/08/2016 21:33

Hi ladies - full on couple of days - boo. I like the idea of a project too Blossom. I had a couple of drinks last night and really felt it this morning - that's what teetotalling does to you - cheap date !
Yes I'm old - 41 n counting. No kiddies. I have no idea if I'll be successful in this fertility department at my age. I've had a bout of thrush this week - first time n God knows why. Not sexy at all! Prob been shagging too much last week.
Anyhoo - sorry for those who got their period - another boooo - and roll on an awesome sexy (thrush-free Blush) September

Morning all,

AF finally arrived properly this morning so feel some relief!

Rider, had you been trying long before your MC? If you conceived this year, I would put money on you conceiving again by the end of the year.

Blossom, sorry about your Dad. How are you feeling? Do you have any close family to share your grief with?

I had a bit of beer and wine on Thursday and felt guilty.

Don't quote me on this but I think during fertile time may make the 'environment' quite acidic but I have conceived while drinking so it can't be that bad. But I'm not going to drink around fertile time just the odd special occasion.

Do you have any symptoms Blossom?

McBaby · 20/08/2016 08:53

Sorry Ali fingers crossed for next month.

Positive opk for the second day in a row which if ovulation is soon my cycle is ovulation is back to pre miscarrige....then I just have the tww to contend with!

jinglebellmel · 20/08/2016 15:52

That's good news mcbaby :)

Still waiting for Af here, was due today but temp hasn't dropped yet so I guess it'll be tomorrow. On the bright side no pre-Af spotting which I've been having since the miscarriage so that's something I guess.

You're still in with a chance Mel. Does it feel like AF is imminent? Or any pg symptoms?

I think I must have your pre-AF spotting! That was something new for me this month.

jinglebellmel · 20/08/2016 16:15

Haha sorry about that Ali! No symptoms either way, but I think my cervix feels quite open and negative first response yesterday, so expecting Af tomorrow. I used to have a 13 day lp before my son so maybe reverting back to that. I'm glad I took the test yesterday now though, I'd be getting pretty excited today if I hadn't!

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 20/08/2016 18:59

How do you know about your cervix? Do you examine it? Something else for me to try! Smile

What was your recent LP, 12 days?

It's still possible for you to get a positive. Let's see what tomorrow brings!

jinglebellmel · 20/08/2016 19:11

I used to when I was charting to not get pregnant, but to be honest I've never been great at it and it's harder to do after giving birth.

Yes last one was 12 and that has been the norm for me since having my son, it was 13 before that though so I suppose it's possible it's changing back to that that. I just can't imagine that a first response wouldn't have picked it up at 12 dpo, but none the less I'm willing my temp to stay up tomorrow! Trying to be realistic about it and not raise my expectations though.

OP posts:
McBaby · 20/08/2016 19:23

Jinglebelmel you never know if you implanted lateish and hoc is slow to rise you could still get a positive!

jinglebellmel · 20/08/2016 20:40

I hope so Mcbaby! I'm interested to see what my temp does tomorrow.
How are you getting on?

OP posts:
McBaby · 20/08/2016 21:16

Jinglebelmel feeling so much better stomach is not cramping and feeling positive at the moment! And a couple more days of smep to get through!

Just hoping the next baby is as easy to conceive as previous 3 pregnancies to put the mc behind me!

Fingers crossed for a few more high temps for you!

jinglebellmel · 20/08/2016 21:48

Fingers crossed for you Mcbaby. Glad you're feel more positive after everything x

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 21/08/2016 12:58

Any update Mel?

McBaby, fertile week is quite a positive time. Good luck!
