Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

So deffo Tues then Rider!

Epo = evening primrose oil. It increases ewcm. As does grapefruit juice.

I'm also going to set the alarm and temp at 5am. I think I might get lower and more consistent temps if I do that.

Sounds like Sep is an exciting month for you Rider!

rider1975 · 18/08/2016 08:42

Thanks Ali.
Tuesday never hit a true dark like the test line altho it was closest so I'm hoping it's right.
How do temps work? Do you get hotter or cooler during ov? Isn't 5 am a bit punishing? Is it a pay off between sleep and temping?
How's everyone doing today?

Alibaba2 · 18/08/2016 09:16

Temps start off lower and then raise after ov (see my chart). The App sets a cover line which is your pre-ov max temp. Your temps revert to this once AF arrives.

Yes 5am is probably a bit mad. I'm just going to try it for a few days until I drive OH mad and see if it makes any difference. At the mo I'm temping between 5am and 9am which isn't very consistent.

Cramping a bit today :( not sure on my plans for September, really thought we had a good chance this month so not sure what to do different if anything. Dtd on ov and the 3 days before ov, maybe that was too much.

Sounds lovely rider v jealous!

Your chart doesnt look too bad Ali, more consistent than mine I think

I'm cramping too Mel. When is AF due?

I think ttc is just a numbers game. Even if you do everything right, you still only have a 20-30% chance of conceiving (and much less in my case).

But it's not over until the fat lady sings!

rider1975 · 18/08/2016 10:14

Thanks for sharing your chart. Do you physically feel the raise in temperature ? I had a "hot" night last night for instance, or is it such a minor shift, you don't feel it?
Mel - sorry to hear it might not be going your way this month - bummer Sad
That's the spirit Ali Grin I'll raise my cup of milky coffee to that xx

jinglebellmel · 18/08/2016 10:16

True, I saw something interesting when go ogling the other day where someone had run a query on the stats on Ff, made me feel a bit more positive.

Think af is due Saturday.

Yes I do feel the temp shift. I get hot and sweaty in bed and I sometimes feel a bit shivery. It sounds like your temps have risen after ov Smile

Mel - cramps aren't necessarily a bad thing?

thatsnotmybear · 18/08/2016 12:01

I agree Blossom - I've always thought of it as being like Russian roulette - it's either your month or it isn't!

Big old temp dip for me this morning so AF is most certainly on the way. On a positive note it will mean that my cycle is back to it's pre-mc length and PMS has been dramatically milder this month (something my acu'ist wanted to work on so maybe we've had some success there!)

I've tried to be fairly consistent with temping & do it as soon as I wake up. I tend to wake around the same time every day, 6:15-6:30 and I read that you should try to temp within a half-hour time-frame. That said my chart doesn't look dissimilar to yours Ali. How do I share it?

Alibaba2 · 18/08/2016 12:34

Hi Bear - take a screen shot of the chart - with an iphone it's hold down the on/off button on top of phone then press the circle button underneath the screen.

Sorry you got a temp dip - it may just be a blip - otherwise good news that you had no PMS and a nice cycle length.

jinglebellmel · 18/08/2016 14:10

Blossom that's a good way to look at it, I need to change my attitude I think! Feel like I'm in a horrible race against time since the mc.

This is the thing I was talking about on your odds of concieving, I found it quite poso time - www-mumsnet.com/talk/conception/1199057-Some-data-on-your-chances-if-you-time-it-right

Just went for a run & felt cramps. Got home & sure enough AF has arrived. Good luck to everyone else for the remainder of your 2ww's!

Hopefully my chart is attached. I've got circles around the later temps because of the time zone difference.

Alibaba2 · 18/08/2016 15:49

Sorry Bear.

I have pink/brown discharge so am expecting mine tomorrow.

Onwards and upwards! I feel ok about it as it was no big shock.

Good luck to the rest of you.

Alibaba2 · 18/08/2016 15:58

I'm not going to follow SMEP this month - OH is going to be gutted! Especially as he's banned from using the jacuzzi/spa on holiday - unless he can fashion some kind of ice pack device to wear under his trunks!

jinglebellmel · 18/08/2016 16:28

Sorry bear.

Ali, definitely don't let him in! Still kicking myself over the hot tub, really not worth it! Don't think we'll do smep either it makes the whole thing seem like hard work to me.

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 18/08/2016 17:11

You're right Mel - it's not worth it is it?

I'll be strong (in the jacuzzi - I can go in right)?

Alibaba2 · 18/08/2016 17:13

And (following on from Blossom)... think of all these pills and superfoods we're consuming! The egg cycle takes 3 months so I reckon we're all due a super-egg round about.... now!

Thanks all. Also not feeling too glum about it as cycles are back to normal, PMS was minimal & I'm ov'ing again at least! Plus we definitely jumped the gun this cycle by DTD on CD9,10 & 11. We needed a break by CD12 and it was CD13 that I got a positive opk; we managed to DTD once more but that was it. Next month I'm going to aim for DTD on CD12, 13 & 14 only, otherwise it's too much for us at our old age Blush

jinglebellmel · 18/08/2016 18:58

Yes fine for you to go in Ali, and I don't think there's any evidence a short dip will harm your dh, but when I was doing my crazy googling there was one study where they gave men one, one hour go in the hot tub and their sperm were dead for 7 weeks! I don't think I'd risk it if I had the chance again.

Here's to super-sperm, super-eggs and less regimented sex in September then, hopefully it'll be the month for us all.
