Positive opk after a miscarriage

jinglebellmel · 19/05/2016 20:28

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

Due Saturday, so not long to wait at least.

Al very impressed you waited until a week late to test!

I have definitely felt implantation with previous pgs Blossom.

Rider, sorry your OH might be away. If he is away, just see it as extra time to 'nourish the soil' and increase your fertility.

I don't drink caffeine. I do like a decaf coffee but am on the herbal teas at the mo.

I haven't drunk booze for a month or so but that may change this weekend Grin

FF has AF due on Fri but I think it could be Sat as I ov'd later this cycle.

I'm cd24/11dpo.

thatsnotmybear · 16/08/2016 22:22

I'm CD26/12DPO. I've been feeling a little pre-menstrual today, maybe, but nowhere near as extreme as my usual downward mood swing (I usually have 24hrs of terrible PMS the day before AF arrives, where I feel very low, angry & upset. It's horrible actually!) I'm feeling mildly crampy on & off. Temp is still high & steady, & weirdly my cervix is still high & spongy soft but both these things can change quickly.

OK I'm going to blame the Ovia app for the fact that I wasted my 2nd hpt this morning Confused My last cycle was 24 days so Ovia thinks I'm a day late & was telling me to test, even though my head was telling me that I'm probably getting back to my usual longer cycle length of 27 days, especially as I know I ov'd on CD14. The stupid thing is I didn't even test with FMU, so of course BFN. I have literally no willpower. I used a foreign brand of digi's that I've never heard of & apparently aren't v sensitive, but I'm still just going to just wait for AF now!

Alibaba2 · 17/08/2016 07:20

Hang on in there Bear, the temp/cervix signs are good. And no PMS yet. The average time for a BFP is 14dpo. What date did you ov? Perhaps similar to me (Fri 5th Aug)?

My temp dropped a little today. I did get less sleep (due to watching the cycling) and took it earlier than usual. Trying to blame it on that!

jinglebellmel · 17/08/2016 07:40

Give me a slap! I used one of the first response tests and got a negative :( should be 80% reliable 4 days before missed period according to their box. Not sure what possessed me as I have a busy day today and now feel like staying in bed!

Hope you're all getting on okay.

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 17/08/2016 07:45

Are you 10dpo Mel? Yeah too early I reckon.

I definitely have a temp drop Sad

jinglebellmel · 17/08/2016 07:55

Yeah 10dpo, it is early but with such a positive test I'd have thought I'd get something. Never mind.

:( oh that's rubbish Al, is it a big one? Why is this so bloody depressing, I think we really all deserve a positive now!

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 17/08/2016 08:05

This is the hard bit, the hoping and the not knowing.

It was 36.81 at 6am - it's been above 36.9 since 4dpo. I keep testing and even got a 36.55! Will keep testing today but deep down I know Sad

jinglebellmel · 17/08/2016 08:11

That's not of a drop by my standards (but think mine are a bit erratic so maybe it is for you). Will keep hoping it's just a blip for you x

OP posts:
jinglebellmel · 17/08/2016 13:25

Is yellowy ewcm a sign of AF coming? I think someone said they had it, maybe Al?

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 17/08/2016 14:10

Well I've had it the last 2 cycles but I may have had it during pg too. I def had loads of discharge early on.

Do you have it?

jinglebellmel · 17/08/2016 14:26

Yeah, I think I may have had it last month too actually, but generally I never check after I've ovd so not sure. I think it's more likely a sign of Af than anything else. Next month I am definitely not testing before Af is due, I mean it this time!

OP posts:
thatsnotmybear · 17/08/2016 15:11

Ali I ov'd on Thurs 4th Aug so I'm 13dpo today. Still no sign of AF but I don't have any pg symptoms either. No temp dip as yet but I expect AF may arrive by tomorrow, my body clock may be a little off as I've traveled to a different time zone.

My temps are generally lower than yours (36.67 this morning, 36.68 yesterday). FF has my coverline at 36.44. I don't know if temps should be higher than this but I read that seeing a pattern is the important thing!

Mel don't feel bad about POAS, it's really hard to resist!

jinglebellmel · 17/08/2016 15:47

Thanks bear :)

I don't think your actual temps matter, more the pattern as you say.

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 17/08/2016 16:06

Put it this way Mel, last cycle or one before when I had the yellow discharge I took it as a good sign. This month, not so much. Who knows!

Bear, good that your temps are staying up and no sign of AF. My cover line is 36.6 but they are above average. Yours sound perfect.

Re testing, if it's a BFP then fab. If it's a BFN it's inconclusive as it could be too early. So not much to lose - apart from a load of hpts!

So fingers crossed for the next few days!

rider1975 · 17/08/2016 16:26

Thanks Ali for the chin upSmile
Weaker line on my OPK today. I'll keep it up til it disappears.
I have no idea about these temp posts but wishing you all are at the right one Grin

rider1975 · 17/08/2016 16:28

Can I ask advice ? I'm going on holiday next week and would like nail polish and sun screen without the nasties. Does anyone have any recommendations ?

Alibaba2 · 17/08/2016 16:40

Did you get your positive yesterday Rider?

Suncream, this one is lush: Green People Children's Sun Lotion Scent Free SPF 30 (150ml) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0013G8JYY/ref=cmswwrcppapi_jqiTxbTDB7YQB

Nails, not sure: Essie or NARS perhaps?

Alibaba2 · 17/08/2016 16:48

Thanks for mentioning the nail varnish. I do like my natural products but have been slack on the varnish. Just been reading about Zoya which is free of the 5 main chemicals in varnish. Must get some!

Are you going abroad?

rider1975 · 17/08/2016 18:56

Hey Ali - yes I got the stronger looking line yesterday morning and evening but still not sure if it's a true positive. Today I thought it would be stronger and darker but it's gone lighter.
Thanks for the recommendation on sun screen. Googled it and I'll definitely be getting it. And also nail polish. Keeping away from all nasties as much as possible.
Yes we're off to Jamaica for two whole weeks. Really starting to look fwd but working most of weekend to compensate - booooo

Alibaba2 · 17/08/2016 19:52

At least the weather is not going to be as nice at the weekend. And totally worth it if you're jetting off afterwards!

My surges happen pretty quickly with ov almost straight away. I think SMEP mentions it and suggests testing twice a day, as you are.

Good luck for this week! Hope everything is happening in there for you.

Yes I have a plan for September: running throughout month (not just first half), extra epo during first half, reading my new book, saving up the swimmers for ov and a couple of silly things I did when I conceived in March which probably made no difference!

What's your plan Blossom?

rider1975 · 17/08/2016 23:07

Thank u ladies. Yes we almost cancelled Jamaica because of Zika but then MC occurred - every cloud etc .. I'm starting to think that's it for ov this month so I'll be enjoying the all exclusive to maximum. Grin
Good luck Blossom - I've got my fingers x'd for you.
September will be a full on work month for me n bf finally moving here on 21 Sept. He just got his cat a passport today so it's happening. Not sure on the science but exercise works for me n hopefully my fertility. So really wanting to incorporate more dancing / yoga / stretching into my life!

What is EPO ? Another dumb question lol
I love September - such a nice month
