Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

7dpo and no symptoms here, have had a busy few days so it's gone quite quickly so far, but I'm anticipating it will drag this week and I'll be desperate to test. Will try to hold out until Friday or Saturday.

I have just changed my user name folks! (Allium)

Alibaba2 · 15/08/2016 20:21

Ah I remember these last few days of the tww...

That sinking feeling that it hasn't happened this month, those niggling cramps, the snappiness, you reach for the XL bag of snacks and finish them in one sitting.

Then you end up testing in the sheer desperate need of something to cheer you up. You know it's going to be negative but what if...

(I haven't tested yet)

Stay strong Mel and Al the last few days are tough!

Alibaba2 · 15/08/2016 20:58

Thanks ladies.

Not sure really, i have a feeling AF is coming so it won't be a huge shock. Especially once the bbt drops.

Signs AF is coming: yellowish discharge, moodiness/depression, cramps, comfort eating

Signs of pg: cramps

rider1975 · 16/08/2016 09:11

Good morning - I think this app hates me - my posts never post 😡. Like the new name Al! Me, I'd rather not test. Thank you for the comments on my readings - here is today which I'm seeing as good but not positive yet

Which cd are you on Rider?

rider1975 · 16/08/2016 11:15

What does cd stand for? I'm not with it yet lol. If it's cycle date then it would be 11 days after my "period" if that's what it was.

Alibaba2 · 16/08/2016 12:50

Yes that's right.

I'm not sure how those tests work - is a positive the same darkness as the control line?

It looks like it's close right?

rider1975 · 16/08/2016 13:11

Great - learning as I'm going along. Yes same strength as the test line for a true positive. I used these same sticks in March which was my last pg and the first time I'd used OPK. It was blank, blank, big fat line - no inbetween steps. This is inbetweeny is new for me. Is a lesser surge of LH the same chances for a successful pg?

Alibaba2 · 16/08/2016 13:24

I think both are fine - mine builds up gradually but then fades out pretty quickly.

So it's looking like tomorrow will be your positive - or even later today? So that's puts you back on a normal cycle length right?

jinglebellmel · 16/08/2016 13:30

I think it just shows its building up rider it happens to me, don't think it lessens change of pregnancy. You look pretty close to a positive now.

Al how are you getting on any more signs of af?

I'm at that point of the 2ww where I'm feeling quite negative and like I'm def not pregnant. No real reason I think it just always happens to me around this time!

I did think I'd rather test and have warning get af was coming, I'm not so sure now though. I have 2 first response tests, but will try not to use them.

I feel the same Mel. I am feeling negative/moody/depressed/crampy and don't have any pg signs apart from feeling crampy.

I feel like I want to kill OH which is normally a sign AF is coming Grin

Along with a desire to eat my own body weight in crisps and chocolate.

I think I will hold out for the temp drop which I'm expecting on Fri or Sat.

Mel, you're a couple of days behind me aren't you? Probably too early for you to have any symptoms.

jinglebellmel · 16/08/2016 15:25

Haha sounds familiar Al! Ff changed ov day so I'm now apparently 9 dpo, maybe a bit early still. I suppose the one advantage to a shortish lueta phase is not having so long to wait to see if af comes.

rider1975 · 16/08/2016 18:34

Really helpful to know that this is part of "normal" so thanks. Yes if I get a positive tomorrow, I'm back to me again.
I really feel your pain ladies - I shudder at the horrible anxiety I got last month. I'd like normal symptoms this month please - weepy/nasty/hungry Grin. My bf is still in Norway so this is another month lost

jinglebellmel · 16/08/2016 19:38

That's annoying rider, but will be nice to know things are back to normal if you get your positive tomorrow. At least you'll know when you are trying you have a decent chance then.

Should not have bought first response tests! I was going to use one Friday (think Af will be due sat) only got them as they were on offer in superdrug so about the same as the superdrug tests, and now they are in my bThroom calling to me! I'm already considering using one tomorrow, I have no symptoms so it's just a big waste of money, must be strong!

jinglebellmel · 16/08/2016 19:39

What days is everyone else on, how are you all doing?

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 16/08/2016 19:54

It could be worth testing on Friday though Mel?

No developments my end - still premenstrual!

Now I have a big do on Sat night. I know I said I'd given up drinking but may well feel like a couple on Sat.

AF should have arrived by then but if not, I may test...

jinglebellmel · 16/08/2016 21:00

Thanks Al and Blossom, I needed a stern talking to! Never wanted to become obsessed like this!

Hopefully it's something good blossom, it's hard not to notice every little twinge isn't is?

Al, that sucks, fingers crossed you're wrong. I'm sure I felt pretty premenstral with my son. So many of the early pregnancy symptoms seem to be exactly the same a pre Af symptoms, so you never know. Did you 'feel' pregnant or different with your other pregnancies?

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 16/08/2016 21:20

With DD1, I knew about 1 or 2 days before AF was due. I just felt odd.

With DD2, I was over a week late before I tested by which time I had strong symptoms and I knew.

Same for the MC pg.

I remember mood swings but I don't remember this intense annoyance with everyone and everything (mainly OH)!

Mel, when is AF due?

Blossom, do you normally get these twinges?

rider1975 · 16/08/2016 21:27

Agree - don't do it Mel. Altho I'm just about to post another OPK stick - sod waiting til the morning hehe - I'm prob a bad influence
I'm also not dead against alcohol within one's own limits. What's the prevailing view about alcohol and caffeine?
Annoying thing is that I prob won't have bf here in Sept or Oct so it's just more lost time Sad
