Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

McBaby, great news your HGC is down! Have you had an AF since MC yet? I start opks around cd8 as I used to ov on cd10. But cycles seem a bit longer now.

Blossom, I have 2 DD.

Anyone read The Cuckoos Calling?

jinglebellmel · 13/08/2016 13:13

Day 8 mcbaby (usually ov 12/13) so could start a bit later but they're so cheap it gives me something to do!

No allium, is it any good?

It's day 8 today! So might start today this month and see how it goes! I don't normally ovulate till about day 14 but that was pre mc!

I wish I had more time to read I don't know how you find the time.

thatsnotmybear · 14/08/2016 14:29

I haven't read it yet Allium but have my friend's borrowed copy at home. I'm also struggling to concentrate on anything too intellectually challenging! I'm reading The Girls by Emma Cline, about a girl who gets involved with a cult. Not a very cheery read!

10DPO today and nothing to report. I had to run to a pharmacy yesterday to get suncream and I couldn't resist picking up an early hpt Blush I stupidly caved and tested yesterday, BFN of course. So much for my resolve!

How's everyone else doing?

Allium40 · 14/08/2016 15:13

I haven't read it yet but it's my next book club book. I've only managed to finish one book so far!

I'm 9dpo according to FF. Have had cramping yesterday and today which seems to be something I get imagine when ttc. No idea what causes it. Maybe gearing up for AF. Was very snappy with OH yesterday. I think progesterone peaks around now or maybe has already peaked and is on its way down. Who knows! If only we could put cctv in there.

Definitely too early Bear but I understand the temptation. It's the buzz of waiting for a line.

Blossom, loved the girl on the train. Would def recommend the lemon cake one for something a bit quirky.

Bear, too early! But I'll probably be doing the same in a few days, can't resist even though it just makes me feel bad.

Allium, cramping should be a positive sign?! Fingers crossed you're not imaging it and it is something.

I'm 6dpo, no symptoms, nothing to report. Think I'm passed imaging them this month.

This morning's reading on Boots OPK:

Positive opk after a miscarriage
rider1975 · 14/08/2016 21:13

Last period was last Friday pm so this is way early - but don't think it counts.... I try again in the morning

rider1975 · 14/08/2016 21:16

I love Donna Tartt - old news I'm sure but a really great re-re-read !

That's my fave book of all time ! Yes, I think it does. Last month I only tested from day 10-11 and got complete blanks. No clue what a faint line means

I'd do what's most relaxing for you. If a small glass is fine on your tolerance levels and help u chillax - great. I'm personally quite drunk even with one glass lol so if I think I could be pg, I leave it alone.

Hi Blossom - 2 MCs and I've had no nipple tingles afterwards. Thanks also for ur advice re lower abdominal pain. I suffer from some weirdness in this area and find it worrying as its only been going on for last year or so. All scans show healthy everything though.

Allium40 · 14/08/2016 21:49

My boobs used to get REALLY sore after ov to the point that I couldn't exercise. Now they don't seem to change at all. Maybe slightly tingly but that's it. I think MC is a control-alt-delete of your hormones and resets everything.

As for drinking, I've given up for ttc but was drinking when I fell pg in March. Awkward when going out though as can't stand the questions and am not a good liar!

Mel, re cramping, I always seem to get it when ttc. I had it when I fell pg but also when getting BFNs. No idea why or whether it's always there but only notice it when ttc.

jinglebellmel · 15/08/2016 07:52

Looks like it's on its way to positive rider, maybe in a few days?

Blossom, I think you're pretty unlikely to get a positive 8dpo, then you'll feel shit and be none the wiser! Up to you though. I'd probably have a couple of glasses, I always have previously ( as placenta isnt functioning until about 8 weeks so baby won't be getting anything through your blood). It is hard to be as relaxed after the mc though.

Allium, well done on giving up while ttc, I planned to but it just hasn't happened :(

I bought a 2 pack of tests and have managed to resist using the 2nd one at least! CD25/11DPO and no sign of AF, so hopefully my cycle is getting back to it's usual length of 27 days (sits on hands to avoid POAS!)

Blossom I'm clearly not in a position to tell you not to test early Blush but I would go away on your weekend and enjoy yourself as normal, it won't impact things either way.

Rider I've used the Boots opk's before. The test line does need to be as dark as the control line for it to be considered positive. I found it helpful to keep the tests so I could see the line get darker. How was today's looking?

Has anyone read The Goldfinch? Donna Tartt back on form with that one.

McBaby · 15/08/2016 13:53

Cd9 and a definate second line on an opk but but positive but I also have ewcm which is normal for me on cd9 in my pre miscarrige cycle!

Good job it's our wedding anniversary and the anniversary of when we met this week :)

Blossom I would test the morning you are going and if negative then drink as normal (which for me is about 2 glassss before I feel drunk)!

Allium40 · 15/08/2016 15:54

I feel premenstrual today, I have such a short fuse. I still have the cramping and I have yellowy discharge. It feels like AF is imminent. FF has me due AF on Friday but I think it's more like Sat or Sun.

Anyone else have any signs or symptoms?

McBaby, good luck for fertile week!

Bear, well done for resisting the second test!

I loved The Secret History too.
