Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

I've got dh taking 2000 mg a day, he doesn't have any known sperm issues and we conceived easily before, but thinking he may have ruined this a bit using a hot tub I wanted to give it a boost. No idea if it's worked though but it's really cheap so I figured worth a try.

Rider - did AF arrive?

Mel/Blossom - good luck for FW!

McBaby - good luck for your next blood test

Bear - are you still having acu?

Lizzie - did you get a opk+ in the end?

rider1975 · 08/08/2016 07:10

Hi Al, ladies
Sorry about your news McBaby. It's hard going at the beginning.
Yes Al got my period on Friday pm but just for 2 days - all but finished now. Very heavy on Sat and then a dose of massive anxiety and mania yesterday. I just don't know what's going on with me. Never felt such a disconnect with my body. I'm flying to Norway today to see my bf so good to be away from London for a week. I'll start the OPK kit on Saturday just to see if I am ovulating or having a false period. Will roll the idea of IVF to bf for later in the year. Can't really go on like this tbh.
Hope everyone has a fab week xx

thatsnotmybear · 08/08/2016 07:59

Sorry to hear that Rider. Nobody warns you that it might be a while before your body gets back on track after mc. It's a difficult time emotionally, try to be kind to yourself. Hormones are still unbalanced and that doesn't help. Hopefully a week away will be healing for you x

Allium I'm taking a 2 week break from acu as we're going away but will resume for a couple more sessions when we get back. How about you?

Turning 39 today. This better be my year!

rider1975 · 08/08/2016 08:02

Oh happy birthday GrinFlowersCake
39 was first time I got pregnant :-))
Yes I think it was because after 1st MC I was back like clockwork - wasn't expecting this !

Allium40 · 08/08/2016 10:59

Happy birthday Bear!!! And have a great holiday! I'm sure 39 will be a lucky year for you.

I'm having more acu tomorrow.

Currently stressing out that I haven't ov'd due to lack of bbt rise. I took my temp after I got up on Sat, then Sun and today I'd been awake for a while too. Trying to convince myself it's that! Heading back home today after a weekend away so will see what bbt I get tomorrow. Temps have been lower this month and I think the Chinese doc is working on that so maybe it's that....

I'm always stressing about something!! Wink

Allium40 · 08/08/2016 11:04

I don't know about you guys but I'm always temping at different times, sometimes 5am, sometimes 9am. And I find if I've just woken from a heavy sleep the temp is high. It seems to drop once I've been awake for a while. What about you all?

jinglebellmel · 08/08/2016 11:54

Happy birthday bear! Enjoy your break.

Sorry you're having a tough time rider hope the time away helps.

Allium I'm the same. Pretty sure I ov'd yesterday but no bbt rise today. Toddler had me awake most of the night so I'm hoping that could have messed it up.

My blood test result was 9 so assumed to be from incomplete miscarrige. Another test tomorrow morning to check if it's down or I need another scan.

jinglebellmel · 08/08/2016 13:10

So sorry mcbaby, how are you feeling? Have you had a scan previously? I can't remeber the details of your mc sorry x

Allium40 · 08/08/2016 13:22

Sorry McBaby, how are you feeling?

Allium40 · 08/08/2016 13:28

Sorry I missed your post Rider.

I did read that anovulatory cycles have light periods so maybe you are ov'ing if yours was heavy. Did it stop completely after 2 days or did you get spotting?

Sorry about all the menstrual side effects. I have been very emotional before AF lately. I do have friends who get anxiety just before AF and epo helps. But as you say, yours is probably part of this sudden change you've had to your cycle and hormones.

Hope you feel better soon. Enjoy your week away x

McBaby · 08/08/2016 16:30

I am just a bit confused and fed up by the while thing. I had a scan when I started bleeding at ten weeks the baby has not made it passed four, I had a scan two weeks after which confirmed everything had passed.

I just want to move on the baby died nearly 11 weeks ago and was only 4 weeks old it all seems a bit crazy!

jinglebellmel · 08/08/2016 17:10

I know what you mean mcbaby, mine was the same but at 11 weeks, and seemed to drag on forever with a retained clot and lingering hcg. I felt I was back to normal quicker after having my son! It makes it very difficult to try and move on. Hopefully you can get some answers tomorrow x

Fingers crossed blossom. I prefer the cheapies as I can see it coming over a couple of days, so it stops me stressing that it isn't going to, but I know what you mean about a clear yes or no being easier. Acu sounds good and v positive, I'm feeling so negative lately, not just about ttc but feel like it's crept into all areas of my life and I'm considering doing something to try and sort it out, not sure what though.

I'm on day 15 too, had a temp rise this morning so hoping that was ov as I just can't have sex tonight I'm too tired. Last night was the 4th day in a row and it was pretty obvious neither of us could be bothered!!

jinglebellmel · 09/08/2016 20:22

Mcbaby, how are you? Did your blood test give you the result you wanted?

OP posts:
Allium40 · 09/08/2016 23:34

Hope you get your positive in the next few days Blossom.

Acu is great, although mine just leaves me in a room on my own. The first one I had stayed and chatted.

Looking forward to my sesh tomorrow.

Mel, do you exercise? That really helped my negativity although I've been a bit slack this past week.

I got my bbt rise this morning thank goodness. FF has me ov'ing on Fri although my temps aren't accurate. But Fri is when I got the ov pain.

Sorry for everything you're going through McBaby, it's so tough. It does get easier in time. Hope the next few weeks are good to you.

McBaby · 10/08/2016 08:01

So fed up and feeling awful today. Hopefully I should get my blood test results today but I am exhausted, my head hurts, my tummy hurts and I feel sick! I don't know if it's all related or just stress making me feel rubbish!

Hgc has dropped from 9 on Friday to 6 yesterday but apparently this is not quick enough so I need to see a gynaecologist this week.

Allium40 · 10/08/2016 14:55

Hi Blossom, I reckon you'll get a + tomorrow. So tonight could be the night Smile

I'm ok thanks. Nothing to report my end. Just heading to my weekly acu sesh.

Went out with friends last night and rather than having the courage to say "I'm not drinking", I poured half a glass and took about 10 of the tiniest sips ever. Then felt really guilty about it this morning! I just couldn't face all the questions of why I wasn't drinking. OH doesn't drink so I should just say I've given up!
