Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

lizziedoll I think I ovulated 21 days after I started bleeding. hoping tomorrows test is darker and I don't have nightmares again tonight about af starting!

rider1975 · 03/08/2016 22:30

Hi Bear
Good to see you. Congrats on getting your positive OPK! Is acupuncture helpful ?

thatsnotmybear · 03/08/2016 22:43

I am finding it helpful yes. It's definitely helping me to relax and have some faith that my body will get back on track. I think a mc can really make you feel negatively about your body, as if it's failed you in some way or let you down. So it's been good to take the time to do something healing for my body, rather than just feeling cross & impatient with it for not working as I think it should.

McBaby · 04/08/2016 07:42

Two negative tests this morning I now have no idea what to think. Time to speak to the GP.

Bee1234 · 04/08/2016 07:50

Hi ladies.. Hope you are all well ( or as well as can be ) I've been reading all your posts and wanted to say that I'm still around to show my support but didn't want to post too much and be insensitive. Bear thats great u finally got ur positive for Ov!

To the new comers, I'm so sorry for your losses and that you find yourself here. You are at the right place to find answers, these ladies are fab! For those wondering if they ov'd after MC.. For me, I had a negative HCG 2 weeks after surgical management and a positive ov on the same day, AF then arrived 2 weeks after this, so I'm pretty sure I ovulated then. I then conceived first cycle after AF. Sending u all some hope and luck! Mcbaby, fingers crossed for darker lines!

Allium40 · 04/08/2016 08:45

Rider - hope you get your normal cycle back asap and the side-effects go.

McBaby - so strange, hope your GP can give you some answers.

Bee - nice to hear from you, you can post anytime, it's not insensitive at all! Hope you're feeling good and that the tricky first trimester is flying by!

Bear - I agree with you on the acu front. Hoping to get my opk positive today. My temp is back up to the coverline so think ov is today/tomorrow. Which makes my cycle a bit longer than 26 days.

jinglebellmel · 04/08/2016 09:34

Bee you're not insensitive at all don't worry :) hope you're getting on okay, I'm sure early pregnancy after the mc has its own stresses x

Bear, that makes me feel more positive, thanks for letting me know. I can deal with slightly in efficient as long as it's functional!

Mcbaby, hope you're okay, maybe ask gp for a blood test?

OP posts:
McBaby · 04/08/2016 16:47

Gp has referred me for a blood test.

Allium40 · 04/08/2016 17:37

Bear, I have the same as you this month...

Last month I got the opk + on cd 10 and 11. This cycle I'm on cd 12 and haven't had a true + yet. But very nearly.

My cycle is longer this month too.

thatsnotmybear · 04/08/2016 18:16

Allium I'm wondering/hoping that this cycle will be longer for me too. It was CD13 before I got the positive opk, so hopefully you get yours very soon.

Mel that's exactly what I thought; inefficient I can cope with, as long as it doesn't affect ov/fertilisation/implantation!

Bee it's not insensitive at all. You absolutely deserve a healthy & happy pg! How are you feeling?

Mcbaby good luck for your blood test. I hope you get some answers.

McBaby · 04/08/2016 18:51

I ditched the ic pregnancy tests and mover to frer it's defiantly a positive!
Hopefully it gets darker over the next few days

I guess then I just need a couple of blood test to determine if it's defiantly a new pregnancy!

Yep there's definitely a line, Keeping my fingers crossed for you mcbaby! When will you get the blood tests?

OP posts:
Allium40 · 04/08/2016 19:35

How long was your cycle before, Bear? I'm hoping to get a opk + tomorrow which will be cd13, same as you.

Good luck McBaby!

McBaby · 04/08/2016 20:18

I need to pick up blood test forms tomorrow and test on Monday! So a little while of being in limbo! But the pain in my boobs, metallic taste, and insomnia are making me think hgc is going up now down!

jinglebellmel · 05/08/2016 08:48

Well if you do the same type of test today or tomorrow hopefully you'll see the line get darker and the blood test will just confirm.

Bear and allium, I think we must all be pretty close together. I'm on day 11 and expecting a positive tomorrow.

I've been dtd every day but I'm only 14 days post mc and doubt I've ovulated. I'm also struggling with chronic BV (anyone else?...so tedious). Hcp tests are negative but opk are giving me faint lines every single day!?! Ugh

jinglebellmel · 05/08/2016 11:21

What's bv Lizzie?

That works out well then, we'll all have lots of company :) we dtd on cd 8, should have done last night but my son was ill and in our bed all night, which made it a bit difficult! Hoping I can kick him back into his own tonight and do it 11,12&13.

Bacterial vaginosis

thatsnotmybear · 05/08/2016 12:16

I don't think I've ever had BV Lizzie, does it give you many symptoms?

Blossom we DTD on CD9, 10, 11 and again on CD13 when I got the positive opk. In hindsight we should probably have done it on CD12 as well but we both really wanted a night off! Blush

Lizziedoll · 05/08/2016 12:28

It just makes you smell a little "fishy" down there after dtd (sorry tmi). I'm getting antibiotics for it today but it always comes back Blush

jinglebellmel · 05/08/2016 13:53

Sounds annoying Lizzie, hope the antibiotics sort it out for you for a while at least.

I don't blame you for wanting a break bear! We were planning to do it cd 8,10,11,12,13 but not sure if we'd have managed it. As we missed 10 it should be a bit easier hopefully.

I've been doing lots of research into hot tubs and sperm, as we had one on holiday in June before I realised they were pretty bad if you're ttc. It seems in a lot of cases they do pretty much wipe the sperm out all together, which is depressing, but this is hopefully the last month it should still be effecting us. So not expecting much again this month, but excited that we might have a decent chance after that.
