Positive opk after a miscarriage

jinglebellmel · 19/05/2016 20:28

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

Thanks Allium. I can't believe how disappointed I am. But as you say, the sooner AF is out of the way the sooner we can try again. Hopefully I'll have a better idea of when I'll ov, knowing that my cycle now is shorter than it was. How are you doing?

jinglebellmel · 22/07/2016 08:33

Negative test today at 10 dpo, ttc is actually horrible isn't it?!

Sorry Bear :( I was so disappointed last month so can sympathise, it's like all your hope is just crushed. I did start feeling a lot more positive again a few days in though like Allium said, but it is hard X

Oh I'm sorry Mel and yes, it really is! You may still be too early though. Earliest bfp I got was 11DPO and very faint, then got a clearer one on 12DPO.

jinglebellmel · 22/07/2016 09:05

Yes, will have to wait and see. At least with shortish cycles there's a bit less waiting anyway. We will all get there I'm sure, but personally I'd just like to fast forward to that day!

OP posts:
Allium40 · 22/07/2016 10:30

Agreed. It's just the waiting. It feels like being in limbo.

I think 10dpo is too early Mel. Which tests do you use?

Looks like my AF is coming at the weekend which puts me on a 25/26 day cycle which is what I used to be. Hopefully the mystical Chinese doctor can increase my cycle length like he said he would!

jinglebellmel · 22/07/2016 11:16

Just a cheapie, so could be too early. I can't see it happening this month, but that could just be my negativity!

When are you starting Allium? Mine are usually 25/26 but as it's never caused a problem before I guess I should probably leave well alone.

My cycle was super short for me, 24 days down from 27. I've read that it's not unusual for cycles to be different after mc; AF also starts with spotting which it never did before. My feeling is that my body is still trying to right itself after the mc so it may take a couple more months. Feeling a bit brighter now than I did this morning. Wine tonight that's for sure!

Allium40 · 22/07/2016 12:27

I've started on the Chinese herbs.

I don't think a short cycle is a problem but in my case, the hot temps speed everything up and the egg doesn't mature properly.

But you're right Mel, my cycle was this length when I conceived so maybe it is fine.

I do think things are still adjusting for me too. My boobs don't change any more throughout the cycle although I did read that big hard boobs every cycle aren't necessarily normal.

Hi Blossom, yes same for me. Sometimes I walk away thinking its a negative then come back 5 mins later to see a strong positive x

jinglebellmel · 22/07/2016 13:09

Hi blossom, it normally takes a minute or two.

Think I'm still getting back to normal too. My cycle was a day shorter last month Bear and had 2 days of spotting before, I've never had that prior to the miscarriage. It's very annoying but I seems to be quite common.

Hopefully you'll see some improvement soon Allium, and if you're anything like me you'll feel better psychologically just for doing something x

Hi ladies

Hope you're all doing ok, I've just caught up on the recent posts.

Mel 10dpo is probably way too early for a cheapie! My cheapie didn't pick anything up until after I'd missed my period and that was a "sensitive" one! Got my fingers crossed for you.

Allium, Chinese Doctor sounds great. Always good to try something alternative and it's refreshing to get extra knowledge from others. I really hope it helps with your cycle and temperature!

Bear, sorry AF arrived, I hope you enjoy your large glass of wine tonight and are feeling more positive over the next few days!

jinglebellmel · 22/07/2016 18:48

How are things going with you Bee, are you finding being pregnant again?

OP posts:
Bee1234 · 22/07/2016 19:14

It's definitely a whole different experience to last time. Sadly the innocence of it all has gone and I feel more nervous than anything else! I know as time goes on though this will settle. Obviously I'm so grateful that I've been given another chance it's just very scary at the same time!

jinglebellmel · 22/07/2016 20:58

I can imagine, it must be very stressful. I was talking to someone the other day and used the exact same phrase about innocence, it's a shame, but hopefully it'll get easier for you as the pregnancy goes on. Do you plan to get any early scans or will you just try and hold out for 12 weeks?

OP posts:
Bee1234 · 23/07/2016 09:40

Thanks Mel, I hope it does. I didn't want to wait until 12 weeks as I just don't think il cope! So I'm seeing my ob/gyn at 8 weeks. He's also put me on baby aspirin as a precaution which also scares me but I suppose he knows best!

jinglebellmel · 23/07/2016 09:52

Temp drop this morning, think I'm on my way out :( despite feeling like I was prepared for it I'm feeling so low now. So wish I could go back to the cauaul trying, no temping no stress which was how I conceived so easily both times previously instead of all this stress and desperation!

OP posts:
Bee1234 · 23/07/2016 10:08

Oh no, what a bummer!! That's so frustrating I'm sorry :( it's crazy isn't it that we go through all the extremes when beforehand you didn't even need to in order to fall pregnant. But It gives us some sort of control doesn't it. Is it possible it's an implantation dip? When is AF supposed to arrive? I'm still holding out hope for you.

thatsnotmybear · 23/07/2016 10:13

Sorry to hear that Mel. It's rubbish isn't it. Thought I'd prepared myself too but it's just so disappointing! x

Allium40 · 23/07/2016 12:04

I had a huge temp drop at 11dpo, temps recovered then I had another dip today and I'm expecting AF any minute.

Sorry Mel, it could be implantation though. See what happens tomorrow.

It sucks. I don't know what the answer is. How do we stay positive? x

jinglebellmel · 23/07/2016 12:40

Thanks Bee. I'm 11dpo so implantation dip is possible, but I think probably a little late. My luteal phase is usually 12 days so I'll see what tomorrow's temp brings I guess, but realistically I think it's on it's way down.

Thanks Bear, hope you're okay and you enjoyed some lovely wine.

On the bright side I've made it to 11dpo with no major cramping or spotting, which I had from 10dpo last month. So I'm hopefully that at least my cycle is slowly getting back to normal.

OP posts:
Allium40 · 23/07/2016 14:51

Hi Bee btw, thanks for your message. Glad you're doing ok. I don't think pregnancy is the same once you've been through a mc but hope it flies by for you and is an easy pregnancy. Exciting times! x

jinglebellmel · 23/07/2016 16:55

Didn't see your message sorry Allium. Oh that's rubbish, especially for your temp to recover on,y to drop down again, hope you're not feeling too bad. It's so hard to stay positive isn't it. It's silly as we've only been trying a couple of months, but since the miscarriage there's that sense of 'falling behind' where I think I should be, and where others are. I guess the only answer is to have a little cry, some wine and then buck up and try again next month, much as I don't feel like it right now!

OP posts:
Allium40 · 24/07/2016 06:17

AF arrived first thing today but was strangely relieved as FF was freaking out this morning!

Obvs gutted that it means more waiting but at least I can go for a run today and get on with things.

Hope you're all doing ok!

x
