Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

Ah well at least you've figured it out! How are you feeling now.. Did you manage to fight off your cystitis?

I took another one this morning as that was 48hrs later and it's a lot clearer! It still doesn't feel real.

Allium40 · 14/07/2016 12:24

Brilliant, good stuff (envious in a nice way :-)

Cystitis is much better. A hot water bottle and drinking warm water worked a treat.

Bee1234 · 14/07/2016 12:42

Ah that's good that youve managed to keep it at bay!

Haha thank you 😊

Lots of luck for you tww!

Hope you're all doing well? Think I'm 1dpo today. So the wait starts again.....

Waiting, waiting, waiting...

Nothing to report my end other than I have my first acupuncture session this afternoon.

AF is due next Thurs I think which is my OH's birthday!

jinglebellmel · 15/07/2016 10:07

Let us know how the acupuncture goes, it sounds interesting. Do you plan to test before hand or just wait and see if AF turns up?

OP posts:
Allium40 · 15/07/2016 10:46

Actually AF is due next Fri which puts me on a 24 day cycle Shock

I guess I'll have an idea by the day before. Not sure whether I'll test or not. I'll probably just wait for clues either way.

And you guys?

Bee1234 · 15/07/2016 12:16

Good luck with your tww's! I hope they don't drag!

I've broken out like a teenager, I don't remember my skin ever being this bad! The mild cramping has also set in.

Bee1234 · 15/07/2016 12:21

Allium good luck with your acupuncture 😊

Allium40 · 15/07/2016 12:38

Ah yes, pg cramps, I remember them well. All a good sign!

Thanks Bee :-)

jinglebellmel · 15/07/2016 15:11

Good sign that the hormones are strong at leat Bee!

Allium, I don't want to test, but I imagine I will! From my extensive googling dh sperm won't have recovered from its hot tub boiling for another 4-8 weeks yet, so I'm not really expecting anything this cycle. No doubt I will still be looking out for every twinge and getting my hopes up though!

There would have be some sperm Mel, even if a few were affected by the heat.

We are going on holiday at the end of August, with a spa, hot tub and lots of cycling!! Confused

Happy weekend all!

jinglebellmel · 15/07/2016 21:35

I'm just a pessimist! Hopefully you'll have your bfp by then anyway - although that will mean missing out on the hot tubs!

Allium, do you use ff in advanced mode? Just thought I'd warn you if you do - it put my ov at cd14, just playing around I switched between the other 3 modes available and they all put ov at cd12, (which made more sense based on opk and other signs) thought this was strange, did a bit of googling and lots of people were saying the same and that it was due to having temps missing. I had a temp missing on day 4, filled it in and advanced now also puts ov at day 12 (makes no difference what temps I put in as long as there is something there). So it seems that if you have any temps missing then advanced is actually quite unreliable! Just thought I'd let you know incase you are forgetful like me and sometimes miss a day!

Thanks Mel.

I'm just on the free version and haven't missed any temps so hopefully it's correct.

I got the opk positives last Thursday and Friday, had the ov pains Friday evening and had my temp rise on Sunday.

FF has me as ov'ing on Sat and I think it was Fri.

I am slightly worried it's putting me on a 24 day cycle when I thought I used to be 26-28! Anyway, we'll see!

How are you doing?

jinglebellmel · 17/07/2016 07:33

That's good, thought I'd mention it just incase! I wonder with the temp rises, if you ov very late in the day perhaps your temp doesn't have a chance to rise before you temp the next day? I'm fine no symptoms or anything out of the ordinary here, only 5dpo though so too early anyway I guess. How are you doing? How many days past are you?

OP posts:
Allium40 · 17/07/2016 07:58

Thanks for passing that info on btw. I didn't know FF had different modes.

I'm 8dpo according to FF. No symptoms and think I'm out this month.

My temps during AF are too high (36.7-36.75).

I'm going to try vaginal temping next cycle just in case the temps are out. But if they are too high during follicular phase, I can try acupuncture to correct this. Unfortunately my acu'ist is away now until my next ov. I wonder if I can find another who can fill in for her...

jinglebellmel · 17/07/2016 09:16

What would high temps in Af indicate?

OP posts:
Allium40 · 17/07/2016 09:36

Well, obvs I am googling like mad this morning!

It could be an age thing (high FSH and low ovarian reserve) or it could be endometriosis (although I don't get painful periods). Probably the former I would think panic

Allium40 · 17/07/2016 12:00

Here is my chart...

Positive opk after a miscarriage
jinglebellmel · 17/07/2016 14:26

Your temps are quite a bit higher than mine (although not sure mine are necessarily normal!) but the overall pattern looks good, definitely biphasic. Is it possible to just have generally high progesterone levels and therefore quite high temps, or just be a warm person? Or is it definitely abnormal?

OP posts:
Allium40 · 17/07/2016 14:50

I don't know what the cause is or whether I've always had high temps but it's not great for the eggs as they need a lower temp otherwise they get cooked! Hot temps also dry up cm. I don't get loads I must admit.

I need to do some more reading and obvs see what happens next month. I know I often feel hot in bed when I have AF.

Allium40 · 17/07/2016 14:52

I think cd1 temps are often high but they drop quicker than mine. Not sure what causes them to drop. As you say, probably the drop in progesterone.

jinglebellmel · 17/07/2016 17:41

Hmm, there's so much to this ttc that I'd never considered before now. I hope the acupuncturist can help you with it then if it is a problem.
