Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

Hopefully that's your bad luck out of the way Bee.

Pineapple is supposed to help with implantation but it's got to be fresh pineapple and the core is best. I slice off one slice a day and blend it.

I haven't started yet but will do tomorrow. I've been caught slightly off-guard this month.

I think I'm going to not run as much as I have been. Opinions are divided on this but I'm happy to brisk walk, cycle and do yoga instead. Just in case.

What day are you on Mel - any opk lines yet?

jinglebellmel · 10/07/2016 18:12

Day 10, getting a faint line today. I normally get a positive around day 12 so hopefully get something a bit darker soon. Have started the exhausting smep again this month!

So are you 1dpo today Allium?

Ok, good luck for this week Mel.

FF hasn't clocked ovulation yet as its a few days earlier than last month. But pretty sure it was Fri/Sat so yes I'm 1dpo.

thatsnotmybear · 10/07/2016 19:57

Ttc #2 Allium. We have a DS age 4. Struggled with undiagnosed PND the first time so it took me a while to feel ready for another.

CD13 today and still no peak or positive opk but trying not to panic as I didn't get a positive opk until CD14 the last time.

Am also a bit wary of running but can't really put my finger on why?

thatsnotmybear · 11/07/2016 08:59

Still no peak but I think the monitor has missed something if you look at the test sticks!

Number 4 is a definite positive to me? Even number 3 looks quite positive too?

Allium40 · 11/07/2016 09:23

I don't know how those sticks works but one looks positive to me.

Allium40 · 11/07/2016 10:29

Does anyone get EWCM AFTER ov? I did yesterday! Didn't notice any before or during, typically!

thatsnotmybear · 11/07/2016 10:57

The test strips are made of a different material to opk's. You're not supposed to try to read them in the same way but I still want to think that the 4th one is positive, especially as today's isn't. Will probably test for a few more days and if I don't get a peak on the monitor at all this cycle then I'm just going to stop using it & stick to using cheapie opk's. That'll teach it a lesson! Grin

Bee1234 · 11/07/2016 12:56

Allium I've never noticed it after tbh? But then again i barely notice it during so..

Haha sounds like a good plan Bear! I'm not familiar with the monitor so I can't help unfortunately. I got my positive OPK on day 15 this cycle!

I'm trying to take my mind off when to take a pg test.. these next couple of days are going to be painful!!

thatsnotmybear · 11/07/2016 16:36

Remind me how many dpo you are Bee? It's so hard to resist testing before AF is due! I have no willpower when it comes to POAS.

jinglebellmel · 11/07/2016 16:57

Bear, I read that one line is me surfing estrogen and one lh (if you've got the dual hormone one?) So comparing the 2 lines doesn't really work the same as with a normal opk, I've gone back to cheapies this month as I didn't think the clear blue was really worth the money.

Allium, I had ewcm after ov last month, apparently you can get a second estrogen surge or something.

OP posts:
jinglebellmel · 11/07/2016 16:58

Okay so that should be measuring not surfing!

OP posts:
Bee1234 · 11/07/2016 17:15

I'm 9dpo but could be 10 depending on when I ovulated! I don't temp so can't confirm the exact day that ovulation occurred. I've just gone with that I probably ovulated the day after my positive OPK?

AF is due Saturday and I have two clear blues waiting for me! If I can hold out until Wednesday then I think il get a more reliable result. I also have zero will power so let's see what happens tomorrow morning haha!

thatsnotmybear · 11/07/2016 18:29

That makes sense Mel. So I'm not supposed to compare the two lines, as you would with an opk. Do you think the presence of a clear second line suggests an LH surge? I also did a few opk's in the afternoons. The last one was nearly positive. Would've done another the following day but ran out!

jinglebellmel · 11/07/2016 19:10

I think the first line to go dark was measuring estrogen, the one that went dark later would have been lh. Supposedly it measures against your hormone levels when you first started testing rather than against a pre-set level, so how dark the line needs to be to be positive is different for each person - not sure if that made any sense?! I didn't get the peak fertility until day 13 but got a definite positive on a cheapie on day 12. When was that last opk done? It looks pretty close to positive.

OP posts:
jinglebellmel · 11/07/2016 19:12

Bee, very restrained! I tested on 10dpo last time and I wish I hadn't, it caused me more stress I think. Hoping I'll be able to be more sensible this month but not sure I'll manage it!

OP posts:
Bee1234 · 11/07/2016 20:08

Mel I'm not feeling restrained Im feeling like a crazy person obsessing over when to test haha! Yes an early negative can be stressful I bet as its not even a real answer! That's why I'm trying not to give in for tomorrow but it's been on my mind all day! Gosh this tww is WAY worse than last time.

Bear that last OPK looks likes a near positive for sure! I bet you'd have gotten a positive the following day!

Allium40 · 11/07/2016 20:34

Any symptoms Bee?

Allium40 · 11/07/2016 20:36

How are your opks going Mel?

Allium40 · 11/07/2016 20:40

Bear - are you on the same cd as me, 14?

thatsnotmybear · 11/07/2016 20:47

Yes CD14. I think I have a slightly longer cycle than you though, 27 days. I definitely think I'm post-ov as cm has dried up a bit. I've also been a bit irritable today. Not sure if that's a sign of anything Confused

jinglebellmel · 11/07/2016 20:49

Slightly darker opk tonight, fingers crossed for a positive tomorrow. Although I already feel like it's not going to happen this month to honest, feels like I'm just going through the motions.

Bee, ah it's horrible isn't it?! I had to test on day 10, couldn't help myself, but got really down when it was a negative, then picked myself back up again knowing it didn't really mean anything, repeat until day 13 when I decided to just wait for AF. That's not to say I won't fall into the same trap this month though...

OP posts:
Bee1234 · 11/07/2016 20:50

Hi Allium.. Hmm well my breasts feel heavy but could just be pre AF. I'm tired and emotional but again it could be everything taking its toll. Saying that I still have that voice saying "could be pregnant!"

How are you doing?

Allium40 · 11/07/2016 21:47

I was definitely irritable around ovulation Bear. Have you been following SMEP and dtd?

Mel, stay positive, you could get a nice surprise. Have you ever got a negative opk then a positive opk and cycle?

Bee, nothing to report my end. Today's temp wasn't as high as yesterday's but not far off. Will see how I'm feeling by the weekend.

Am speaking to an acu'ist re some treatments. She said it doesn't matter when you start but you need to be treated for 2 cycles for it to work.
