TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

well, that's a decision only you can take, lis. it's the pits. do you mind me asking how many miscarriages you've had? wasn't there a news story last year about a drug to help people who seem to miscarry in the early stages?

lissie · 05/07/2007 17:15

this is my 5th since noah was born and my 7th (at least) overall. i think you can get hormone treatment, seems odd that i mc at the 5-6w mark most of the time. think it may be linked to the group b strep too. theres a OBGyn in the us who has specialised in this and his findings are v interesting

Aitch · 07/07/2007 09:18

oh dear, that's too many, not fair.

lissie · 07/07/2007 09:34

tbh aitch, im almost numb to it now. did my ritual post-mc HPT yesterday and for 1 terrifying minute it looked like a bfp. im so scared of having another ep.

Aitch · 07/07/2007 10:44
Sad
cedar12 · 09/07/2007 07:52

Oh Lissie so sorry to hear about your mc. Wish I could say something to make it all better. Life is just so unfair for some people. Havent been posting as been away for a week.

PinkElephant · 09/07/2007 12:26

plummymummy · 09/07/2007 15:01

Lissie I am so sorry to hear of your m/c Totally unfair. Thinking of you. Try to get plenty of rest xx

cedar12 · 11/07/2007 10:47

How are you doing Lissie? thinking of you.

lissie · 11/07/2007 19:24

bit rubbish tbh. my lil sis's lil sis is 20w pg, she's 15, doesnt know who the dad is, lives with a drug addict/dealer and she's having a little girl. why is everyone else moving on?!

lissie · 11/07/2007 19:34

sorry for moaning, how are you? hows the ivf going?

Genidef · 11/07/2007 21:56

I need a moan myself - every time I open my emails, I get another baby announcement or someone phones to say they're pregnant. Another friend is on her third...

cedar12 · 12/07/2007 07:33

Hi Lissie and Genidef, Its horrid when everyone around you is pg and can do it at a drop of a hat. A good friend at work is 20 wks and I keep on avoiding her. Starting the ivf injections on sunday altogether takes 6 weeks so will be doing a test on 29th aug had a bit of a blow when we got dh sperm test back which he did 2 weeks ago. The motility has dropped a lot since last year, a bit pissed off with him as he started smoking again about a year ago and eats a load of crap. Anyway he gave up smoking 3 weeks ago and has been on a strict diet and he did another test this week and it has got a bit better. so he has promised to be really good so hopefully it will ok in 6 weeks other wise it icsi in stead of ivf which cost another £1000! He is rattling with all the vitamin hes taking.

lissie · 12/07/2007 14:03

oh cedar, i have evrything crossed for you. you deserve some luck x

Genidef · 16/07/2007 22:25

has anyone heard from harveysaunt yet?

cedar12 · 17/07/2007 08:23

Genidef not for ages maybe Lissie knows more. How are you doing?
Dh had another sperm test and the count had gone up from 32% to 72% in 2 weeks just by giving up smoking and eat a bit better. He didn't even smoke much only about 5-6 a day at work I wouldn't let him smoke at home
But still might have to have icsi instead of ivf as mars test wasn't great which is sperm antibodies. Apparently caused by injury so nothing we can do about that really. But they will test again on the day and then decide.
Hope your doing ok Lissie. I saw your thread on what your gp said to you. I couldnt believe it!! I would change gp and make a complaint. It makes me so angry what the people that should be helping you should make you feel so crap.

lissie · 17/07/2007 16:12

not seen her. will put a shout out.

good news about your dh's swimmers! amazing what effect healthy living has.

99redballoons · 21/07/2007 11:58

Hi Girls, just popped in to say hello.
So sorry to hear your news lissie I have such admiration for you.

PE, what wonderful news about your pg. I'm so happy for you. Will check in next wk to hear about your scan.

Hi cedar, hope the ivf injections aren't too bad. My fingers are crossed for you.

We've had a manic couple of months, lots of family birthdays in June, also went to Eurodisney for the wk which ds/dd just loved. Then my sis got married at the beginning of July and one more wedding to go to on Friday! Finally we're able to catch our breath and think about ttc again. I've just not had a moment to get on MN. It's good to hear all your news.

Genidef · 27/07/2007 23:06

I thought I would bump this, it's been a while. In about a week we can try again. Need to give the sex drive a PUTSCH though - any thoughts?!

Hope everyone is well. I trust no news of Harvey.

lissie · 27/07/2007 23:13

hi genidef, how are you?

Genidef · 27/07/2007 23:17

Hi Lissie
Okay - tired from working but my fault very disorganised earlier in the week. Miss my baby who cried at nursery today! apart from that lookin' for some sun at w/e.

YOU?

lissie · 27/07/2007 23:19

ups and downs. see specialist on mon so i'll be starting the clomid and crossing my fingers

Genidef · 27/07/2007 23:21

Good luck with the specialist - is it someone you've seen before? How long is the clomid cycle?

lissie · 27/07/2007 23:25

yes, its the doctor who made me cry (but also runs the fertility unit for shropshire/mid wales) ive got to take it days 2-6, 100mg. dh is not looking forward to it!
