TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

Cedar happy birthday
Mysteriously I can no longer access Mumsnet at work...it's probably for the best really...but the website no longer goes through.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you've had a great day.

lissie · 21/06/2007 11:18

doc has confirmed that i am indeed pg at 9dpo! he said that 3 tests cant all be wrong and my stomach is nice and soft (apparently they can tell the difference between fat and soft) so i am due on 7th march. keep them crossed for me!! im really scared.

cedar12 · 21/06/2007 12:24

wow Lissie congratulations you have kept those 3 tests very quiet. Every thing crossed for you.

lissie · 21/06/2007 14:12

Well my af due today mixed feelings really did a test this morning bfn feeling a bit fed up. Was hope by some mircale a might be pg before ivf. I wish it would just hurry up now so we can get a date for the ivf, but I am crapping my self about it. I am so worried it wont work. Dont think i can cope with any more of this ttc. Dh want to stop ttc if this ivf dosent work. I must stop being so negative.

hi everyone, hope all is as well as can be.

cedar, don't give up hope. or do give up hope, i suppose, if that's what you want, cos it won't really have any bearing on getting pg. just keep shagging and we'll do the hoping for you. and if that doesn't work, the IVF is soon.

and lissie, i got dd's test at 9dpo as well. then had some bleeding, erk, so off to the hosp. a few days later they saw the sac so concluded that it was implantation bleeding, that's the downside of finding out so soon... it's brilliant news for you, chin up, fingers crossed etc etc.

cedar12 · 25/06/2007 11:56

Hello Aitch and Pink elephant. Af just arrived and feel better now it has my hormones are awful at the moment. Just phoned the ivf clinic and they are doing me a treatment plan for this month it all starts on day 21 I think. Got to start drinking lot of water and milk it help arrently. 2 litres of water and 1 of milk.

Aitch · 25/06/2007 12:04

ooh ooh ooh! how unbelievably Exciting! start eating brazil nuts and drinking pineapple juice too, and go for some acupuncture. go crazy, you might as well give it a great shot!

cedar12 · 25/06/2007 12:30

Thanks aitch, I have some pineapple juice in the fridge and I will go and get some brazil nuts this afternoon. they have given me about a 50% chance of it working. My dr only wants to put back one embryo because of my age I am 28 what do you think.

Aitch · 25/06/2007 12:38

i don't know anything aout ivf, really. my friend had two put in at 34 and came out with twins... is that something you could handle?

cedar12 · 25/06/2007 12:41

Would love twins but dr said there would be higher mc and complications etc and if you put 2 back more chance of one floating up the tube.

Aitch · 25/06/2007 13:07

well that's true. you increas your chances of getting one pg if you put two back, but if you get two you increase your chances of losing both pregnancies. i have another friend who lost one of her twins at 16 weeks, it made it very dangerous for the other baby and was a miracle she got out alive. difficult decision, cedar.

PinkElephant · 25/06/2007 14:04

Hi Cedar - lots of luck with the IVF x

cedar good luck with IVF. Will be thinking of you - I am a big fan of accup by the way, might want to consider it...

AF arrived today...on the bright side...it means we can start trying again shortly! keeping chin up.

Genidef · 25/06/2007 22:34

PinkElephant - let us know about the scan too!

cedar12 · 26/06/2007 08:46

Hi Gendief and pink elephant thanks good wishes. I ahve been having reflexology and drs are happy for me to continue until transfer. I have tried accupunture but didnt get on very well but I dont think the therapist I went to was very good.

lissie · 26/06/2007 15:18
