TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone, haven't had the chance to check in of late and I come back to this wonderful news! Congrats PE !!! Agree with the others about cramping and stretchy pains during these first few weeks. I'm sure they get worse when you 'think' about them, ie. in a hypocondriac sort of way (mine did!). Agree with Aitch that you shouldn't worry about something that's out of your control, but easier said than done. Hope you're feeling better.

Wow Lissie, very proud of you. I have two good friends due in May and July and I'm very too. It's so lovely for your ds to have a new little cousin.

Hi cedar How long are the reflexology sessions? and around how much if you don't mind me asking? Sounds lovely. Happy B-day to your dd My ds is 4 in June.. planning a Star Wars theme (on his request) and I'm dreading the 'fighting' they'll be doing all day!

Hi 99rb, The 1st rexelogy session was 1 1/2 hrs and cost £30 after that 1hr and cost£25. Or 3 session for £65. I cant wait for the next one I am having in a week. The lady who does it is lovely no pressure to have lots of session etc.

PinkElephant · 10/05/2007 08:15

Morning ladies,
I'm feeling fine thank you. I feel great on a morning but feel a bit sluggish by about 4pm and just want to come home from work and put my feet up. I usually get a bit of cramping, nausea and feel generally washed out by this time also....is all this normal? Cramps haven't got any worse like they did before and no bleeding, so everything crossed so far. Just want to get through this week and past the 5wk marker as it feels like a milestone. Went to see the GP yesterday who was hopeless. Does anyone find the old school GP's to be a waste of space? Should have gone to see the younger one but as always they are popular and she was full up!! He hadn't a clue what to do with me so I pursuaded him to start taking my Beta HCG's every 48hrs over 6 days and I know myself what should happen with the reults now. I guess I ask them to refer me to the EPU for a scan....at what stage should I have scan? At 6-7wks? Will they see anything then?
Lissie - I bet you manage to get a cancellation, think of all those poor girls who's cycle are ireegular and they have to cancel their HSG. My hospital do it once a week, its ridiculous, but I got a cancellation after all. Good luck hun.
Hellooo 99RB and cedar and everyone else I've forgot to say hello to, how are you all?

with ds my first scan was at 5w andwe could see a bean, is it worth lying about your dates, add on a week so you can get a scan before 6-7w?

PinkElephant · 10/05/2007 08:30

OK - had ascan at 5wks last time and they couldn't see anything....but then again it was in my tubes!! I'll push for the end of next week and then I'll be 6wks next friday.

Pink elephant if your gp is being a pain. I bypassed my gp and phoned epu direct. But even they didnt want to scan me before 7weeks! Glad your feeling better.

lissielou · 10/05/2007 09:38

sounds more realistic, PE thats what happened during my ep too, they didnt even check my tubes

PinkElephant · 10/05/2007 09:53

Yes I'm going to give them another ring today, engaged every time I tried yesterday. Enough about me....how are you both today?

cedar12 · 10/05/2007 16:27

Sorry your feeling crap Lissie, Everything takes so long in the Nhs. I hope you get a cancelation. Are you tcc this month or waiting for your appointment in June.

lissielou · 10/05/2007 16:29

well my hot dates are when we are away and the 2 nights my parents are staying, but we'll give it a go. i dont want to give up and our appt is the 4th june so quite close anyway

cedar12 · 11/05/2007 10:22

Nothing like your parents in the next room to dampen the passion Lissie!
Aitch I was wondering I remember you saying you took aspirin when ttc. I have read it is useful for women who have had lots of mc, can it also help with ep as well or just fertility in general.Thanks.

lissielou · 11/05/2007 13:23

im taking asprin at the mo on the off chance.

PinkElephant · 11/05/2007 19:27

Oh Lissie - I really hope you can get a cancellation. Everything crossed for you.
Cedar - it sounds very busy in your household!! How are you this month?
Just got the second lot of Beta HSG's back tonight and they have gone from just over 1000 to just over 2000 in 48hrs. This is good news and has relieved some of the anxiety I was feeling....next is the scan which they are going to try and book me in for next week

tbh not holding out much hope. the only day they could do it is tuesday and not heard anything about it.

lissielou · 11/05/2007 19:45

well, had my day 8 bloods taken today and the fecking nurse really hurt me and my arms bruised to buggery! arrrrggggggghhhhhhh am so fed up of this crap. wish i could just give up, but i cant.

cedar12 · 12/05/2007 09:08

Sounds good pink elephant. We have been busy lately, looking after my friends little one today aswell then having dd cousin to stay tonight so it will be mad house today.
Hope your arm not to bruised today Lissie.
Think I am going to ov soon so got a busy weekend planned hopefully will be from the left side this month.

lissielou · 12/05/2007 11:32

arms not too bad ta. my you do havwe abusy day!

when are you due to ov?

cedar12 · 13/05/2007 17:27

I think I am due to ov today or tomorrow I think not temping or using ov tests this month.Have had the odd cramp not as bad as last couple of months thank goodness. Its 3 months since ep so it true what they say about your body needing time to heal.
Aitch wondering about the aspirin you took when ttc I have only found info on mc and aspirin not ep. Wondering if I should take it as I have had 2 ep and my mum had 4 mc before she had me. How long did you take it for once you were pg? Thanks

PinkElephant · 14/05/2007 09:30

Hi ladies,
Ooops got my HSG muddles up with HCG's by the looks of it!! Bloody nightmare Lissie, everything becomes such a struggles doesn't it!!! If you don't get an appoint this week when will the next possible date be for you?
Cedar - happy BD'ing. Haven't a clue about asprin, hasn't MrsMcJr on the other thread been taking it for some coagulant problem but didn't wait for medical advice either and now is now PG. So sorry its the last thing you want to here about PG!!!

cedar12 · 14/05/2007 09:36

I have been taking aspirin all this month, but a bit worried in case I shouldnt be. Read on the internet it was good for fertility in general as it increases blood flow to womb etc and ovaries. I was also a bit worried about mc as well as my mum had 4 before she had me and my sister. Not to worried but just remember aitch saying she took it and wondered if she had any words of wisedom on the subject.

lissielou · 14/05/2007 13:34

what dosages asprin are you taking. in asda they have a 75mg asprin thats used for clotting probs/strokes etc and thats what i take.

next hsg appt will be next month but go back to specialist on 4th so will have to traipse back to them again after the hsg

arrrrrgggggghhhhh!

how are we all today?

Genidef · 14/05/2007 15:30

My husband and I finally went for it last night (following ectopic in Dec 06 - right tube removed). I'M SO SCARED - can I ask everyone for positive thoughts?!

lissielou · 14/05/2007 15:33

totally understandable to be scared. ttc is a scary business without the added complication of a previous ep. how long were you ttc fpor?
