TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

(butts in- well wait when you have you 2 children and are ttc a 3rd and let it slip - then i get questions like 'why, whats wrong with your two?' and 'why would you want so many children' , like ive just said i want 50!)

Sorry to hear people are being so insensitive

cedar12 · 04/05/2007 11:31

People can be really insensitive cant they. 2 women at work are pg and all I get is how old is your dd, shes 4. Oh that I big age gap arent you trying. Which I reply only for 2 1/2 year and have had 2 ep. I cant remember how many people I have had to explain myself to. They should just piss off its hard enough seeing pg women every where we go with out people giving us the third degree.

I had reflexology last night and it was wonderful. I would definitly reccomend it to all of you. So relaxing I fell asleep! and feel really great today I am going to have a few more sessions over the next couple of months has any one else tried it.

Hi all,
After all my cramps in the build up to AF last week, AF never arrived and instead I was suprised with a BFP . Now.....apart from feeling overjoyed, I'm also trying to be very realistic this time and am just hoping my second little beanie can find its way to my womb. I'm having just the odd bit of cramping which is terrifying me, no spotting or bleeding, but there's nothing I can until I have the blood tests etc this week. Please, please, please be ok......

Feel so sad and worried now. I've had constant cramping today but no bleeding. Think its all happening again

OP posts:
lissielou · 07/05/2007 18:22

have you rung your gp? how many weeks do you think you are?

AitchTwoOh · 07/05/2007 18:26

you could be right, PE, or you could be wrong. i had the worst cramps with DD, for example. so bad that i went a bit mental and actually punched myself in the place where the crampse were. i knew it was another ep, of course, so it didn't matter... honest, it felt EXACTLY the same.

you may have had some bleeding internally with the ep, even with metho, as the baby wasn't really supposed to be in that place. so that can cause adhesions which don't like being stretched by a pregnancy. also, if you speak to a honeslty, the one thing i can tell you for sure is that you don't know whether you're right or wrong. that's the torture. and for all of us, the next time we get pregnant, it will be the same. hold on, you just have this next bit to get through then you'll know for sure...

PinkElephant · 07/05/2007 18:29

Just missed period on thursday so I'm only week 4 really. Just feels like period should be starting and the cramps come and go, there not really bad but they are there and I have taken paracetamol for them. I'm intending to make an appoint to see the GP this week as she promsed she'd start doing my beta HCG's as soon as I knew I was pregnant and refer me to the EPU. I read on the ectopic website that you can sometimes get a bit of cramping from old scar tissue from previous ectopics but I'm not that positive

PE, at this stage in any pg cramping is v normal, so is spotting for that matter. ring your gp tomorrow for an appt. take care hun

PinkElephant · 07/05/2007 18:56

I'll phone tomorrow and get an appointment. As soon as the cramps go I feel really positive its just when they all come back I feel really teary again.
Aitch - I never thought of that
Lissie - thank you hun

the good thing is, PE, that you feeling positive or negative isn't going to make a whit of difference. it's either in the right place or it isn't, that decision has already been made, iykwim? for the record when i had dd i felt like my period was going to start the next day for Nine Months. but i'll raise your 'bad feeling' with a 'good feeling' cos i've got a hunch this one's okay. have a look for SKG's posts around the same time... exactly the same. you're frightened and looking on the bleaker side to protect yourself, and that's absolutely fine. we'll know soon enough, you do what you have to do in the meantime.

lissielou · 08/05/2007 08:35

how are you PE?

PinkElephant · 08/05/2007 08:49

Aithch - I know its so true!! I got so upset yesterday afternoon and I guess its just my emotions preparing myslf for the worst possible outcome. I'd been fine up to then and I feel fine again today. Like you said there is no knowing where my little beanie is but only the tests and this week will tell. I feel comforted by the fact you and many other had these cramps for a while also. It isn't enough to wake me up at night so I'm getting some good sleep if not too much as keep falling alseep
Lissie - thank you too for all your comforting words....hope I haven't scared you off the HSG xray hun? There was no doubt it was definetly worth having and despite the pain I'd do it again if I had to
How is Cedar today sweetie?

Pink elephant I also had cramps with dd for ages and period like pains so I really hope your little bean is in the right place. With everything that has happened you are bound to feel every twinge at the moment. But know matter how much anyone tells you to relax it impossible isnt it. I will be thinking about you.

cedar12 · 09/05/2007 17:54
