TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

sorry didn't want to upset you You are one of my fave mnetter and you deserve some happiness.

AitchTwoOh · 02/05/2007 21:25

some people are just really lucky, eh? it'll be sticky tomorrow, but you'll manage. (just like you always have to... boo hoo). i so hope your fortunes change soon, lissie. sparkly's right, you deserve it.

lissielou · 02/05/2007 21:25

thank you, and you.

lissielou · 02/05/2007 21:27

well we go on hol next month, just to wales but its during my fertile time and dh has apologised for his reluctance to ttc and has realised that HE wants another lo as much as i do.

AitchTwoOh · 02/05/2007 21:33

oooh, that's sounding promising if he's fully on board. it doesn't work with reluctant sperm, all bucking and rearing when they get to the ova.

lissielou · 02/05/2007 21:34

lol, tbh aitch i think he has super sperm! i seem to get pg at the drop of his kecks!

SparklyGothKat · 02/05/2007 21:40

AitchTwoOh · 02/05/2007 21:43

AitchTwoOh · 02/05/2007 21:51

deep breaths, lissie. you've been through worse. (unfortunately). give that baby a kiss from me.

lissielou · 02/05/2007 21:54

thank you, youve helped calm me down x

Thanks for your advice ladies. Now AF has not quite appeared yet so this will alter my dates for next month of TTC, so maybe I will go ahead and try even if we do fly to america. At least then if I do conceive which is highly unlikely I will only be a couple of days late. What do you think?
Having on and off cramps still but no sign of AF as yet. What an earth is going on with my body? Does anyone know much about endometriosis? I asked the REg about it when I went after my HSG xray as I'm convinced all the pains are caused by endo and she agreed but said it obviously isn't affecting my fertility so its nothing to worry about at the moment....anyone suffer with this?
Lissie - big hug sweetie

Lissie I hope you are ok today. Its horrid feeling so crap, hopefully with the aspirin etc your chances will be better. I hope we get some good news soon on this thread.
Sorry Pe dont know much about endometreosis.
Aitch is usually a fountain of knowledge maybe she will be back soon to give you the low down.

AitchTwoOh · 03/05/2007 12:03

i'm delighted to say that i know nothing at all about endometriosis. apart from teh fact that i hear it's very rotten and sore. i tell you who does know all about it though, hunker. she's moving house at the mo but i'll direct her here when i see her around. (lord knows the computer will have been the first thing unpacked).

PinkElephant · 03/05/2007 12:07

Thank Aitch - my goodness...have I really found an aspect of the reproductive system which you don't know about? You're such a wise owl and know so much

rather selfishly i only know abut the stuff that applies to me...

AitchTwoOh · 03/05/2007 12:12

well, actually i do know you can go for a thing called endometrial ablation which is an op to take away (laser it, maybe?) the excess material. but i don't think it's a first step kinda thing, i know hunk was doubled over with pain before she got hers. and if it's not affecting your fertility then you should keep trying as the best cure for endo is getting pregnant, funnily enough.

PinkElephant · 03/05/2007 12:14

Sounds like my kind of treatment.....now if I could only just get PG!!!

Well done Lissie

lissielou · 03/05/2007 17:35

thanks. it was tough tho, esp when ds came and sat with me he was totally entranced! had the usual "will you have any more then questions"

AitchTwoOh · 03/05/2007 18:55

fucks sake, i can't believe that people just come right out and say that these days... it's so unbelievably incautious...
well done, wee lissie, you were very brave and a good aunt.

lissielou · 04/05/2007 08:07

thanks, i just gritted my teeth and said that having lost 5 babies in 18m we're in the hands of the experts now! ive never seen anyone go so red

AitchTwoOh · 04/05/2007 10:21

LOL! you taught them a good wee lesson for the rest of their lives, there. i remember watching Michael Parkinson grill Kylie on her advancing biological clock and it made me absolutely furious. nobody knows what's going on with other people, they should just keep their mouths firmly shut. dd is 16 months so i'm getting loads of pressure (from friends who Should Know Better) to start trying again. even saying, 'well i'd love to, but it's a bit like facing a firing squad so i'll have to work up to it' doesn't shut them up...
